I could write a book on how wonderful this cabin is, it is truly paradise on earth! This is without a doubt the cleanest cabin I have ever stayed in. The view from the balcony and the sound of the river was so peaceful and relaxing. I have rented several cabins over the years from VRBO and this is the very finest. The TV and Netflix took us a little while to figure out as I was determined not to bother Jody with a phone call, but there were instructions in the guest book, after that it was a walk in the park. I hope sometime soon to return to this beautiful cabin by the river.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Hi Janice, Thank you very much. I really appreciate you taking the time to comment on your stay at Pine Summit. It allows others to get an idea on what they might be getting or missing out on. So glad you were able to stay in a little bit of "paradise" on your way to Fort Smith. Its responses like yours that just make me smile. I feel the same way each time I stay there myself. I truly hope you ladies get a chance to come back to Pine Summit again real soon. Have a great weekend. - Jody

What a fabulous trip. First the cabin – it’s gorgeous. Lots of space, meticulously cleaned/maintained, wonderful furnishings, two gas fireplaces, huge walk-in showers, wireless, flat-screen TV, great kitchen, comfy bedding – slept like a baby. The view from the wrap-around deck is awesome – look straight ahead and you see the mountain ridges across the river; look down and you see the river flowing by. In the evening the sun sets over the mountains and you’re watching from the deck. In the morning over coffee the sun hits the mountains as it rises. You can’t see or hear any of the handful of other cabins on the property – it’s just you and nature. The stress just flows out of you. We enjoyed some nice hikes, some quality time by the river (RiverWalk Trail), and some family game time. Wish I’d brought fishing gear. Next time we’ll try the kayaking or canoeing also – and the mountain bikes. In the evenings we enjoyed an outside campfire and we only gathered wood when we wanted to – there was a big stack of wood near the fire-pit, and even a nice pile of kindling to get her going. How often do you get that with a cabin rental? The snow pictures on the VRBO site really make me want to go back in winter. I found it to be a very reasonable drive from the Dallas area. Depending on your route, make sure you avoid 144 like the reservation instructions suggest. I forgot about that advice and its 30 miles of ups and downs, curves and turns. Other than that it was smooth sailing. There is a filling station/convenience store 3.2 miles from the cabin. Don’t plan on getting all your food there, but it’s great if you forgot something. A great family get-away that we all look forward to enjoying again soon. You won’t be disappointed.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Our family spent the Christmas holiday at Pine Summit Cottage and we LOVED our stay there! So peaceful, quiet except for the flow of the river below, full of nature, hiking, biking and most of all, an opportunity for our us to spend the kind of quality time together that we miss through the hussle and bussle of life. Not only is this cabin the most beautiful of all of the other cabins (TRUST me on this!), the pricing makes it a GREAT value. GREAT value for a SPECTACULAR cabin. Thank you to the owner for creating such a spot for us. We will be back!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: I was born and raised in New Jersey and lived my last 4 years in up-state New York where I finished my term in the Air-Force and completed college. When I received my first job offer as a civilian with EDS (Electronic Data Systems), I jumped at the chance to move to Dallas TX. I've been here for 20 years now and still love it. However, I missed the mountains and hiking so this is how I got the idea of building a cabin close to home.
Why the Owner Chose Watson:
I purchased this property because I needed a get-away from the fast paced life and stresses of work. When I would go up to the Log Cabins to take in the hiking, biking, canoeing, and talking around the camp fire with family and friends, it just seemed to release all the stresses of life and re-energized me.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Pine Summit Cottage is Quiet, Secluded, and offers both amazing views of the Mountains and River below.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.!!!
