This is a unique jewel of a home designed by the famous Mexican architect, Manuel Parra. If you enjoy beautiful views, gardens, and an escape only minutes away from the bustle of downtown Guanajuato, this is the house for you. Choose from six sunny terraces and patios that surround the main house, affording stunning, panoramic views over the city, mountains, and valleys, and up to the fabulous church of La Valenciana.
You don't have to be outdoors to enjoy the view, however; you can enjoy them from every room in the house. All of the rooms are open, spacious, and filled with light. The main floor features a large, convenient kitchen. A separate dining room opens to a patio, to the beautiful living room, and to a gracious hallway with guest bathroom. Antique wooden doors separate the living space from the large study and the spacious master bedroom with its king-sized bed. The ensuite bathroom has one of the best views in the house. Gracious, wrought iron-and-glass doors open around the house onto the beautiful terraces and patios. Bovedas (high, domed, brick ceilings) grace every room, along with conchas, antique wood-beam supports, and archways.
Downstairs there is a separate spacious guest room with double bed and bathroom. It, too, has beautiful views, and an adjoining patio and walkways. In the main-floor study you will find two desks, a sofa with a pullout double bed for guests, and still more superb views.
Parking is available within the fine wrought-iron gate and stone walls.
A caretaking couple lives in a separate casita on the property. The lovely Maria will work as a housekeeper and do cleaning and laundry for you if you wish, and her husband, Gabriel, can also be a driver (costs are additional). You can walk to the end of the lane to catch a bus into town for 5 pesos (38 cents US), or take a taxi for 35 pesos ($2.70 US).
A short distance away in the other direction you can enjoy the shops around the lovely town square of Valenciana. It faces what is called the prettiest church in the state, completed in 1778 with an imposing facade of pink stone.
The large property is graced by mature gardens, bougainvillea, and jacaranda and eucalyptus trees. There are dogs on the property that are sweet and friendly to house residents and well looked after by the caretakers.
This house is for those who want to be surrounded by beautiful art, architecture, and stunning views, yet have close access to the vibrant centre of Guanajuato.

About: We are a Canadian family in love with Guanajuato and we have been coming here for many years. Our parents built this home designed by a famous architect on a prized piece of land, surrounded by beautiful nature and stunning views.
Why Guanajuato City: We love to have breakfasts on the sunny terrace with freshly squeezed orange juice and papaya. What a way to start the day, with hummingbirds and spectacular views over the city and mountains! We are happy to share the pleasure of living in this uniquely beautiful house, close to the vibrant cultural and social life of the city.
The Unique Benefits at this House: Guanajuato is the loveliest small city in Mexico. Its picturesque, winding laneways lead to colorful houses that climb the steep hillsides. It's fun to visit the markets and shops, pretty little squares, galleries, and charming restaurants. We also love the extraordinarily full cultural life, of concerts, art exhibits and museums.
The thousands of university students give the town a youthful feel, and mix with local families and visitors to make the Jardín de Unión the vibrant centre of the town.
