Fort Collins house description
The Lake Street house is perfect for a couple or 10 people. We adjust the rates according to number of people to make it affordable for all. The house is on a quiet Cul-de-sac within a mile of Colorado State, 3 miles from old town and close to markets, restaurants and bike trails. It has a sunny open floor plan and a private yard. This 3* bedroom, 3 ½ bath house has a master bedroom with a king memory foam mattress and en-suite bath on the main floor with another full bath across the hall. There are two bedrooms downstairs; one with a queen bed and the other with twin beds. There is another full bath downstairs. The office has 2 beds in it. There is a sofa sleeper in the living room and we have an inflatable queen mattress if you need it. And with 3 ½ baths, there’s no waiting.
The kitchen is open and fully outfitted with a gas stove, broiler, side by side refrigerator, oven, dishwasher and microwave. There are good knives, plenty of pots and pans, plates and glassware. We have coffee, spices and basics like oil, sugar and flour to make cooking easy. Eat in the sunny dining room or out on the deck. In the summer, you can pick vegetables from the garden just outside the back door and grill them on the barbeque. Don’t want to cook? We have a menus and recommendations for local restaurants, take out and delivery.
This house is architecturally re-designed inside to be comfortable for a couple, a family or extended family and friends. We want this to feel like home right away whether you’re staying for a night, a week or a couple of months. There’s a large Living Room with a gas fireplace and Dining Room with floor to ceiling greenhouse windows and plenty of plants. The main floor has an office. There is WiFi throughout the house. There’s a sitting room upstairs and a game room downstairs with AIR HOCKEY and FOOSBALL tables. It’s a great house for reunions, graduation parties, dinner parties and just hanging out. This is a ranch house with an accessible first floor which includes the washer and dryer. There’s a bird feeder outside the window to keep you entertained when you get bored with the TV, WiFi and air hockey. There are 7 bikes in the garage you can use to explore.
After a long day working, hiking, rafting or sightseeing, come home to relax and re-charge. We love art and books and have an eclectic collection of both throughout the house for you to enjoy. Watch our awesome Colorado sunsets or sit in front of a cozy fire. Read a book or surf the web. Walk to Moby Gym to see a volleyball or basketball game. And, if you need anything, we’re right next door.

- The Lake Street House is within a mile of Colorado State University. Fort Collins is known for it's great micro-breweries. There are also many great restaurants of all kinds close by. The Fort Collins Museum of Discovery recently opened and is the first science and history museum in the world. It's a great place to explore for both adults and children. There's a wonderful bike trail system around the city and beyond, passing through great natural areas. And, of course the mountains are just minutes away with wonderful hiking, skiing, mountain biking and rafting....moreless

The house had everything you could want and more. That's also including space. The house was a lot bigger and even more accommodating than I expected. We had a group of 8 men that came to tour the local breweries and hike Horsetooth Mountain. All the kitchen appliances you would ever need were available. There was a great book selection in the house, the garage had bicycles, and the basement had other various sundries to keep everyone occupied. There location also could not have been any better.

Great place to stay with family!
Great place to stay with family!
We were very lucky to be able to stay at this property when in Ft. Collins for a wedding. It was close to everything that we needed. Other family members came from another state and joined us at this property. We had plenty of room and the friendly owners were there to help us with anything we needed. I would not hesitate to rent again at this site. Just like home!

A Perfect House for Us
A Perfect House for Us
We loved this place. Five of us, spanning three generations, stayed here when we brought my 88 year old mother out to Fort Collins to visit my brother and his family. We loved the open floor-plan, the great kitchen, the vegetable garden where we were encouraged to pick whatever we could use (and we did!), the abundance of windows, and the relaxed feel of the place. It felt like home. The house was filled with interesting artwork and well stocked with books, movies, and resources on local attractions. There were even spare backpacks to use and bikes to ride. We sat out on the deck one night and ate strawberries. We hung out together in the living room. We cooked in the well stocked kitchen every day. The air conditioner worked great on the hot days, and the rest of the time we got along fine with the windows open. Our hosts were very helpful and friendly. They lived right next door which was great, but after introducing themselves and making sure we got settled they never bothered us unless we needed anything. I had emailed Sue before our trip and made a special request to have no fragrance-y things in the house and if possible not to use smelly cleaners before we arrived, and Sue was really helpful in making sure everything was fine for me when we arrived. The house was very clean, but did not smell like nasty cleaner smells like most hotels do. One nice thing is that she told me she uses fragrance-free Arm and Hammer for the towels and sheets, which was much appreciated. She also had all the windows open for me when we arrived. Even though I am chemically sensitive I was fine in the house. The only thing that bothered me a little was when my husband was cooking and lighted a burner on the gas stove, but I just stayed out of the kitchen when he was lighting the burners and I was fine (plus I got out of the cooking that way!). The house worked out great for my mother. She liked the walk-in shower with the handy fold-down wooden seat, and it was nice for her that the main living space was all on one level. She loved the greenhouse window. The younger generation slept downstairs and while it wasn't quite as architecturally-cool as the upstairs, it was quiet and private and had a fun game room. I liked having 2 bedrooms on the main floor so my husband and I could have a room close by my mother's room in case she needed anything or got disoriented. We all loved the house and felt totally at home here. We would definitely stay here again!

Owner response: We were delighted to have you stay. I'm so glad that the house passed the fragrance free test. I have trouble with the over-abundance of smells myself and we try to have a clean and comfortable place to stay.
Excellent place to stay, great experience!

Rented this place to use as a hangout for a bachelor party, and we had a blast! Huge yard allowed us to play plenty of games outside, there was plenty of space, beds were very clean and comfortable. Whole house has a clean feel, in fact. It's also filled with many items that give the place a very unique feel, including the art, vintage book library, musical instruments, and board games. The bikes in the garage were a great resource, too. The owners, who live next door, are very nice, reasonable, and hospitable. I'd rent this place again, no question. If you're traveling with a family, especially younger kids, this place is perfect! No fenced in yard, fyi for pet owners.

Family gathering for wedding
Family gathering for wedding
This home has a fabulous yard and common areas. We were in town for our niece's wedding. We had 2 LARGE family dinners for our extended family traveling from Texas, Kansas, Colorado, New York and North Carolina. The weather cooperated and we spent most of our time outside. The game room and outdoor games entertained the kids. The garden and our hosts' invitation to utilize it was a fave of the cooks. The variety of garden produce was amazing. The home is beautifully decorated with eclectic art and book collections. The living and dining areas are spacious. The kitchen is well stocked. The owners were extremely accommodating - going out of their way to be sure we lacked nothing. We would definitely recommend this home to friends and relatives.

The description and photos of the house that we decided to go with were just what we were looking for. When we arrived, the house exceeded our expectations. The owners were so friendly and helpful. This property had so much space, warm features, beautiful art deco, toys and activities for young and older children, and it is just so well-kept. It lends itself to a wonderful vacation-we were sad to leave.

Owner response: We were thrilled to see that you used the bikes, game room & hammock and that you ate out of the garden. It's great to see families get together and enjoy the place we set up. You were great guests. Come back soon!
My family came to town for my wedding and stayed at this wonderful house. It has everything you need for entertainment and typical comforts of home. The owners are very friendly and helpful if you have any requests. We were able to have a cookout in the spacious backyard and the kids had a blast playing outside. The yard is beautifully landscaped with tons of flowers and plants that make being the the yard more enjoyable. We were able to get the house a very comfy temperature even though it was 90 degrees plus outside. I would recommend this house to anyone! Thank you so much Sue and Whitney for making my wedding weekend less stressful!

Sue, thank you we all enjoyed our stay, this was our first stay in a home rental and it was a great first impression. We have visited the area before and because of your rental it was by far the most relaxing. Having the space to relax and grill in the back yard was like being home rather then staying in a motel. Thank you from the entire family.

Owner response: Thanks Bernie, It was great to have the you all here. I'm rooting for Moab and maybe you'll stop by on the way!
This house lived up to, and far exceeded, our expectations. Friends and family members stayed here for my son's wedding, and the house really made the entire event fun, manageable, memorable, and extra special. We had several large family meals here and a post-wedding brunch. The lovely, bright kitchen, dining, and living room were inviting, and the sunny, large yard held extra tables for our outdoor enjoyment. The owners of the house (Whitney and Sue) made us all feel welcomed and cared for--they are incredibly hospitable and friendly. We had everything we needed, and the location is perfect! I highly recommend this house to anyone who is coming to Fort Collins. We loved it!

We were lucky enough to stay here while attending a wedding. We got to meet the hosts, who are very gracious. Well located, this house is all about relaxation and natural light - two of my favorite things. Clean & well-organized, the house, we all agreed, has great "flow." Lots of room for folks to get away from each other (good for a reunion), yet the first floor would be intimate enough for a couple to feel cozy.

About the owner: Sue and Whitney moved to Fort Collins 30 years ago and raised their children here. Whitney works at CSU and Sue for the City, so we know a lot of what's going on around town. We chose this location because it was close to everything but gave us a little space and privacy.
Why the Owner Chose Fort Collins:
In 2003, Sue's parents bought this house to live next to us. Sue's father was an architect and he re-designed the house to make a really comfortable and elegant space. When they moved into assisted living, Sue and Whitney bought it. It was so nicely furnished, they thought it would be great to rent it that way.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The open floor plan and big windows bring the outdoors in. With the sun streaming across the rooms, it's hard not to think that the world is full of possibilities. This is a lovely place to have a dinner party or a garden party.
