We had a blast and loved the place! Plus Spa Isbell on the next block, Surrey's breakfast down the street and the movie production on the block. Smiles!

Charming Space!

Guest: George
Date of Stay: 04/06/12 Review Submitted: 04/12/12

Just wanted to drop a line to say George, Blue & I had a great experience staying in your place on Magazine St. What a charming space! Our taste in decor is the same, you did a wonderful job with furnishing etc. We will defiantly make your place our 1st choice when returning to New Orleans. The park was so convenient for us to walk our Blue in the mornings & evenings. He loved getting in the fountain!

Townhouse on Magizine

Guest: steph (memphis)
Date of Stay: 04/06/12 Review Submitted: 04/12/12

As I said, in my e-mail... we had a wonderful stay in your townhouse. Really liked the fact that there was another seperate space for us to use as well. The only thing that I could suggest is that the toitet seat be replaces & the knob on the front door (kept falling off). Other than that, the place was very clean & we liked the way it was decorated. We will enjoy another stay soon! Thanks for having us use your house! sa

Owner response:Hi George, thanks for the helpful heads up. Both the seat and the knob have been replaced!

A Beautiful Classic New Orleans Respite

Guest: Elizabeth (Asheville NC)
Date of Stay: 03/30/12 Review Submitted: 04/10/12

We arrived the weekend of the NCAA Final Four for a weeklong stay, and the city was overrun wtih huge crowds. The apartment was a fantastic respite away from the hotels and crowds but with easy parking and quick access to everything -- grocery stores a short drive down Magazine Street, a great breakfast place and a coffee shop a couple blocks down, nearby restaurants, accessibly to taxis and so on. The kitchen is fully equipped and we often ate breakfast there before heading out for the day. It was also ideal as we were there with our children so it gave all of us a great common room to hang out in and also a bit of space for everyone. The apartment has the well-loved and cared for feeling of a good friends' very upscale weekend place in the city. We just loved it and hope to stay there again when we visit.

Classic Charm with Modern Twist

Guest: Leti (San Antonio)
Date of Stay: 03/11/12 Review Submitted: 03/19/12

Couldn't have asked for a better place. Close to everything, yet far enough away to enjoy the city with out all the noise. Walking distance to restaurants, shopping, and leisure activities, and French Quarter is a street car ride away. The property itself is beautiful from the old school parlor doors to the wonderful stone floor shower. The outdoor patio is great for coffee in the morning, or relaxing with friends. The detached seperate bedroom with fully stocked kitchen and private bath is great for privacy. I would HIGHLY reccomend this property to ANYBODY visiting New Orleans, and we are planning our second trip back to this city, and this VROB property, DEFINITELY!!!!!!!!!! One thing that would shoot this over the top, bicycles to get around on.

I Love New Orleans

Guest: Dave (NYC)
Date of Stay: 03/07/12 Review Submitted: 03/20/12

The inside of the apartment was beautiful and comfortable. The kitchen was great. The tvs were big and flat. The location was central because we did a lot of going uptown as well as down to the Quarter and the Bywater over to Mid City and Treme. It's a 2 minute drive from Cochon! It was even good for getting to the west bank since the bridge is right there. And we always found a parking spot directly out front which was a dream since I live in NYC. There's one thing you should know that I didn't realize before I showed up (my fault not Julie's). The block is not very pretty. It's the very bottom end of the Garden District just a couple block from the overpass and there are some empty lots and graffiti. Not what I imagined. But I didn't use Google Street View. My fault. We got over it though. Plus the very next block is nice. We walked to Coquette on our anniversary and it was a nice walk. We were there for 10 days and loved it.

Just what we needed!

Guest: Lori (Tuscaloosa, AL)
Date of Stay: 03/01/12 Review Submitted: 03/15/12

We really enjoyed our stay in this condo. It was perfect for our family. The unit was well appointed, spacious, & clean. The location was also excellent. We were able to visit Tulane for my oldest daughter to check out grad school & walk to the convention center for my youngest daughters cheer competition The quarter was a quick safe bus ride to & from. We did not have to use our car, it stayed parked right in front of the unit. Julie was very helpful & made the process of renting very easy. We look forward to renting it again next year!

I love Nola

Guest: GVR (Oakland, Ca)
Date of Stay: 02/01/12 Review Submitted: 02/15/12

I loved our townhouse that we rented! It looked just like the pictures that Julie sent to me. It was very spacious and clean. It was situated in a great location close to restaurants and coffee shops. The owner Julie was very helpful and always responded promptly to any questions that I had. My only complaint would be the hard mattress, but other than that everything was perfect. I would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone wanting to stay here.

Owner response:I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay! And I'm sorry you found the mattress hard. It is difficult to tell what the majority of people prefer, which is why in one bedroom we have a slightly softer mattress and in the other, a harder one. In fact, people often tell me what great sleep that get on that bed. Hope we see you back again!

Worth SO Much More Than We Paid!

Guest: LindsB (Washington, D.C.)
Date of Stay: 07/01/11 Review Submitted: 07/15/11

Oh my -- Where to start? Our stay here far exceeded our expectations. This was our second time in New Orleans -- and we decided to stay away from the French Quarter for a more relaxing and authentic vibe. The unit is literally in the perfect location. When you walk out the door you are a 10 minute walk to down town, go straight and St. Charles St. is a few blocks ahead. Turn left and you are lead down Magazine to rows of boutique-y restaurants and shops **Surrey's for breakfast, Juan's Flying Burrito -- great drinks**. I’m a 24 year old female and I felt safe walking outside to the car at night to retrieve belongings. Although it appears to be located on an industrial street, the neighborhood is very pleasant and well inhabited. Inside was amazing! The furnishings were rustic yet modern, rich and inviting. The AC system cranks so don’t worry about living in a sweat box. The kitchen is stocked with all the essential cooking tools. They even have an “owner’s closet” with the non-essential items you need, but never think to pack—plastic cups, napkins, dryer sheets. My Navy boyfriend was ELATED they had a communal washer/dryer in the hall so he didn’t have to do laundry when he got back to base. The upstairs loft is insanely spacious! I looked at the tags on the pillows because I HAD to have them on my own bed (The Company Store btw.) The unit does not skip a beat in luxury items. Great bedding and towels – everything was clean and fresh. The interior decoration was amazing – I mobile uploaded pics to brag to all my friends about my stellar accommodations. Also, which we found a day or two into the trip there is a brand new Walmart a few blocks away to stock the house! (probably want to drive to it.) VERY WORTH THE PRICE YOU PAY. I think that was my biggest take away here – more bang for your buck than a hotel by far. The split level unit made cooling off in the house during the hot days a desirable option. I didn’t feel cooped up in a hotel room or like I was wasting my time inside. The owner’s were very responsive to my pre and post rental inquiries which was very refreshing. Highly recommend this unit! Will stay here when I return to New Orleans -- started to feel like home and I was sad to leave :(

The location is perfect--close to all areas of the city that you would want to see, both by driving or walking. The area is quiet and super easy to park in front of the house. Very convenient. Now, to the house itself--also perfect. Well appointed, nice accommodations for four people without getting in each other's ways, fun to be in. We will be back to take advantage of this great place!

Wonderful NOLA Getaway!

Guest: Kim (Mobile, AL)
Date of Stay: 06/03/11 Review Submitted: 06/14/11

The condo was absolutely fabulous and was everything we needed for a fantastic couples retreat in New Orleans. The decor was instantly soothing upon arrival and had most everything we needed for a great stay. We could not locate a coffee maker but did locate a great coffee shop a few blocks down Magazine (Mojo's). The condo is within walking distance of several Warehouse museums (DDay, Children's Museum) and is perfectly situated for those who prefer to stroll. We will definitely return and recommend to friends. Enjoy your stay...we already want to return!

Lower Garden District Getaway

Guest: Gabriele2 (San Francisco)
Date of Stay: 03/24/11 Review Submitted: 04/18/11

We loved this apartment and are already planning a return trip. The pictures do not do it justice. Unprepossessing on the outside, it is a haven on the inside. Absolutely charming, appointed with just what we needed and no more. Style and comfort. In fact, when we came home, we were inspired to do a make over on our own house! Julie was kind enough to send us the paint names and we will use those colours in our parent’s house! We loved the location – we walked the neighborhood and up and down Magazine Street, bought a bus pass and took the St. Charles streetcar up to Audubon Park and down to the French Quarter, walked to the Garden District at all hours. We rented a car for the last days of our trip and were able to park right out front. We loved the price, for a family of four from San Francisco, it was a bargain – big rooms, a courtyard that we dined in by candlelight, an whole extra apartment for the girls. We could have moved in to stay. Thank you, Julie! We will be back!

I wanted to let you know that we really loved your place on Magazine Street. We had a perfect vacation and it was great to see New Orleans after 22 years! I really like how you converted/updated the home and the furniture you have. What is the paint color name in the Bedroom (the kind of grey/tan)? I am asking because I would like to paint a room in our house the same way. Anyway, I wanted to let you know, and I'm sorry it has taken so long, that we absolutely loved our stay. Thank you for making such a great place for us to stay while enjoying New Orleans.

Don't be put off by the slightly creepy vacant buildings next door! This apartment is absolutely beautiful and very comfortable. Magazine st puts funky cafes, bars and shopping on your doorstep and it's just a $5 cab ride from the French Quarter. We loved calling this apartment home and will definitely be back.

The Best Place to Stay

Guest: Troy (Seattle)
Date of Stay: 09/10/10 Review Submitted: 10/04/10

I would highly recommend this property for a short stay or a long vacation. I took my three sisters to New Orleans for a week and stayed in this property. What a GREAT place to stay very clean, well maintained and in the best location you could ask for. Everything about this place is very impressive especially the Master Suite! If you stay here you don't need to rent a car because the trolly is so close and there are lots of nice shops within walking distance.

Date of Stay: 07/08/10 Review Submitted: 08/11/10

i stayed here for 3 nights with my boyfriend, my best friend, and her fiance. we could not have asked for better accommodations. the property is perfect for 2 couples, as long as you don't fight over the luxurious master bedroom and bath. the second bedroom and bath were also beautifully renovated, but slightly smaller, with a full size bed, instead of a queen. we were very happy to find that the living room couch was actually a big, comfy one, not the small decorative one shown in the listing photos. the couch would have been perfect for a 5th guest to sleep on. the property was very clean, and nothing was lacking to make our stay extremely comfortable. location was great, walking distance to everything. we never had a problem with parking or noise. the owner was very attentive to any questions i had before and after our stay. i can not say enough good things about this property. *note: do not expect a door for the master bath. the entire second floor is the master suite, with the bathroom partially enclosed by an 8 foot wall

Date of Stay: 05/22/10 Review Submitted: 06/09/10

We stayed here for 5 nights in May for a conference. The home is lovely and exactly as described. The AC worked wonderfully. The home is in walking distance to numerous restaurants and shops on Magazine Streett, as well as a 10 minute walk to the convention center. We did not use the public transport as we rented a car, but it is my understanding it is very close. The unit is beautifully decorated and everything you might need is there. The washer and dryer in the hall was a nice bonus as we were able to get our laundry done before we headed home. Parking is easy and free in front. The owners are so nice and helped us plan a day trip out of the area as well as recommended several excellent restaurants....every recommendation was spot on. We would stay here again in a minute.

We stayed here in March of 2009 and it was really great. The apartment is perfect for two singles, a couple or two couples. It is very comfortable with easy access to all the NOLA has to offer. 2 blocks to the Streetcar stop and 1 block to a great little tavern. I would reserve this place again in a heartbeat

This is a gorgeous apartment that is nicely appointed for two couples with each couple having their own separate bedroom and bathroom, it’s hard to tell from the pictures but the “master bedroom” is a loft style that is very open. We arrived very late at night, and the area gave me a little pause, one thing we had to get used to in New Orleans is the lack of street lighting, and the odd derelict buildings scattered throughout. But, walking through the neighborhood the next morning and grabbing a coffee at Mojo (higly recommend) made us very comfortable.

We had a delightful time and the hosts were quite accommodating. The flat is nicely decorated and can easily house two couples with their own privacy with a nice common entertaining area and great kitchen. The furnishings were a nice touch. I also liked it because it was on Magazine Street which is up and coming area and close to the best coffee houses, restaurants and funky antique stores while being not more than a 20 minute walk to the edge of the French Quarter. Fun hang-out and also a good travel base if you have a rental car and have an interest in touring-up the Mississippi e.g. like we did, visiting the southern antebellum mansions and seeing Huey Long’s State Capitol building in Baton Rouge. Btw, Parking in the French Quarter is a real hassle and there is ample and safe street parking at the house, another plus in my mind. No doubt, New Orleans is definitely back in swing of things and we look forward in returning and staying in this place in the future!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this luxurious home with 14 foot ceilings, and modern ammenities. The owners go out of their way to accomodate your every need (they made sure we had a dvd player and even sent us items we left behind accidentally). In this beautiful home you will appreciate the charm of New Orleans, the fever of Magazine Street, and the historic Garden District. I highly recommend both the home and the rental agency. We had a wonderful stay in this beautifully decorated home right near the funky shops and restaurants of Magazine Street. After many vacations to the French Quarter or Faubourg, we wanted to experience a different area. This is the perfect spot for someone travelling with a dog. We walked our two pups in a park at nearby Coliseum Square for the nightly "dog happy-hour" or around the Garden District to see the beautiful homes. The owner's exquisite taste is apparent throughout the home, from the sinful king-sized bed in the master suite, to the elegantly appointed kitchen to the beautiful jacuzzi tub with candles provided for a romantic bath. The only drawback is the lack of clothes storage- only one small closet (typical in a historic home) and no dressers or armoires. Like much of New Orleans, the elegant and the slightly down-at-heels rub elbows in this neighborhood, and it is important to stay alert, but we never felt unsafe. Otherwise we had a wonderful trip and certainly hope to stay here again. The owner was very nice to work with as a bonus!

We travel frequently and often opt to rent private homes rather than stay in hotels; we feel that we acquire a better sense of the local’s lifestyle. We could not have had a more wonderful week staying in this house. As soon as you step through the doors, you feel a sense of place and history. The owners have done a great job of creating a comfortable, clean, and beautiful atmosphere. The kitchen was one of the best parts, fully stocked with gas oven, grill and range (we couldn’t wait to grab some groceries from the local corner market and try our luck with roux), but what really impressed us was the neighborhood. The homes are truly magnificent. Anything we could have wanted to do in New Orleans was easily within walking distance or an open air street car ride.
