Other Wailua Properties condo description
Kuku’s Nest is freshly remodeled and new to the rental market. This large one bedroom (sleeps 4), ground floor condo, with full kitchen is a beautiful tropical home not just another rental. Bamboo floors, stainless appliances, fresh tropical colors, granite counters, new furnishings and decor, two flat screen TV, quality firm California king bed, lazy boy sleeper sofa, and free wifi. Unit has a/c, but it is rarely needed with ceiling fans and coastal breezes. Enjoy morning coffee on the lanai accessed from both living and bedroom, overlooking coconut grove, one of three property pools, and partial coastal view (see photos). Plantation Hale consistently brings in great reviews for best places on the island to stay. Property amenities include whirlpool spas, bbqs, clean convenient laundry facilities, and open air lobby with small library and computer area. Kuku’s Nest is in the “H” building, directly across from short walking path to tranquil Waipouli Beach. Accessible parking right outside your condo and ground floor location also makes this rental quite convenient for those with walking limitations.
Located in Wailua on Kauai’s Coconut Coast, Kuku’s Nest is nestled in the home of Ancient Hawaiian Royalty. Walk to many area beaches, shops, restaurants, and entertainment. The newly completed coastal walking / biking path provides opportunity to keep your vehicle parked, or within 5 minutes drive you can kayak or stand-up paddle the Wailua River, hike Sleeping Giant, visit several of the island’s best waterfalls, enjoy Smith’s Tropical Paradise luau & gardens, snorkel or swim at Lydgates tide pools, and much more. Wailua is also half way between the jungles of the North Shore and the nearly always sunny Southern Coast making a perfect base for exploring.

We enjoyed staying in the Kuku's Nest. Our 2.5 years old daughter especially liked the ambiance created by lights in the living room :) We hoped to return back some day! Mahalo nui loa,

Very Nice! Loved the location, central to just about everything we wanted to do while visiting Kauai. This was an excellent choice for us to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Room had well stocked kitchen, beach chairs, ice chest and fresh linens. I highly recommend this condo. Thank you!

Great Location, affordable, no surprises!
Great Location, affordable, no surprises!
We had an awesome vacation! The kuku's nest was clean, well supplied/decorated and inviting. I feel we lucked out booking on the East side because it felt the most central part of the island. Tip:Use the kapaa bypass if you aren't going into kapaa! We forgot to sign the surfboard unfortunately :(. It is part of Plantation Hale, which most condo owners don't put the same effort into the condo like the Kuku's nest, or manage their own (they let plantation hale take care of it). There are plenty of pools, open till 10pm I believe, which is great. It IS within walking distance of the beach, it doesn't take that long. Pretty cool place to just walk out to the beach early and watch the sunrise. I would most definitely book again.

Great Location For Everything!!!
Great Location For Everything!!!
What a great place to stay! We were a group of 4 and we felt just fine with the amount of space and everything about this property. The thing that we loved most was the location. It is perfect for going up north to see the lighthouse, massive winter surf, and the "end of the road" so to speak. It was about 40 min of straight driving to get all the way up. We also went south and saw Wiamea canyon, perfect snorkeling, and plenty of calm beaches. It took about the same 40 min of driving time. We watched the sunrise almost every morning by walking the 200 yards to the beach that faces east. We also sat on that beach for hours at a time watching whales and dolphins cruise through. Plenty of breaching whales to see also. The condo was nice and clean. Full kitchen saved us tons of money on eating out. The beds were comfy, including the pull out bed from the couch which is a combo air mattress bed that was better than either a regular couch bed or an air mattress. The shower was like heaven (great shower head) everyday returning from the ocean. The pool is about 20 yards away and was nice and cool for the warm days. The other 2 pools were about 100 yards away and the hot tubs were nice at night. Several Weber gas grills are on the property which we utilized nicely. Clean laundry facilities. Great management of the entire property. The grounds are kept up very well and we always felt safe because there is a security guard on a golf cart just driving around making sure everything is ok. Anytime we go back to Kauai we will be staying at this property! Thanks for a great time!

A Truly Special Place to Stay
A Truly Special Place to Stay
I have rented from VRBO many times across the country. Having never previously written a review, I felt compelled to do so with this property because it stood out more than any place I've stayed at. Even though the condo is part of a hotel complex, it felt like we were staying in someone's house. The decor and furniture was of such a high quality that we looked forward to coming "home" after spending each day exploring the island. The bed was exceedingly comfortable, as well as the couches in the living room. We utilized the kitchen often, which is fully stocked with appliances and any dishes or utensils you might need. We returned to the condo each evening to enjoying the hotel's jacuzzis and swimming pools. The grounds of the hotel are beautifully landscaped and the various pools are all kept in immaculate condition. The pool areas were never crowded, even though the place seemed nearly fully booked. Other guests were friendly, quiet, and very family-oriented. Even though this unit is not directly oceanfront, you can feel the ocean air as you open the sliding doors to the huge lanai. We would wake up early in the morning, grab our cups of coffee and walk 5 minutes to the ocean to watch the sunrise. There is a huge empty field between this complex and the ocean, making it feel like the condo is positioned on an expansive piece of property. Located near Kapaa on the East side of the island, staying at this condo provides you with a great "home base" to explore the both the North and South sides of the island. You can also stay on the East side and enjoy the beaches there if you need a break from driving, as we did every few days. From the condo, you can easily walk to the Coconut Marketplace, which is full of shops and restaurants, or 10 minutes in the opposite direction where you will find many restaurants and two large chain grocery stores. When inquiring about this property, Cheryl was very helpful and prompt in providing information and processing our reservation. Likewise, our deposit was refunded just 2 days after we left. I really can't say enough how impressed I was with this condo. If you are looking for an affordable place in a great location that is filled with high-end furniture and decorations, look no further! Every time we returned to the condo, at least one person in my family would repeat our initial observation about how spectacular this place is!

About the owner: Aloha, My name is Cheryl O'Brien. I was born and raised in Washington State. After a first visit to Kauai in 1999, I immediately felt at 'home' and knew this is where I needed to live. In 2002 we purchased a house in Wailua and started a residential drafting, developing, and consulting business. My son grew up here, enjoying the great island lifestyle of surfing every day and many other benefits of the tropical friendly laid back environment. Raising him here was the best decision we ever made. We lived on island for 10 years, but due to family health issues have moved back to Washington. I am very happy to have purchased this little home away from home as a way to keep my toes in the sand:) The name of the condo is Kuku's Nest. I guess how that came to be may not make a lot of sense... My full name is Cheryl Rose, which in Hawaiian translates to Kelela Loke. That has morphed into Kuku Loke (thorny rose)... and now just Kuku. So there you go!
Why the Owner Chose Other Wailua Properties:
The Coconut Coast has always been what I consider the best place on the island to live. It is half way from the North and South shores, and has a good combination of local 'real Hawaiian' life as well as vacation 'destination spots'. Kapaa Town is my favorite area for great shopping boutiques and restaurants and has the convenience of grocery stores, banks, P.O., etc. The Plantation Hale complex sits along the ocean (Makai) side of the road and is an easy walk to the Coconut Marketplace shopping, Hukilau & Wahooo restaurants, as well as two grocery stores, two coffee shops (yes, including Starbucks;), and many activities. These units always get great reviews from travellers and I've been very impressed with the managment and maintenance staff.
