Kailua Guesthouse Palm Cabana - Walk to Kailua Beach
5/5

Better than we could imagine from the description

Date of Stay: 10/02/10 Review Submitted: 10/11/10

We had a wonderful week at Kailua Guesthouse. The location is central to everything you need. We walked to restaurants, shopping, Kailua beach. There are two guesthouses on the property, totally separate from the main house. We stayed at Palm Cabana. Will, the owner showed us everything we needed to know about the property and made excellent recommendations for things to do, restaurants, grocery stores, shopping. The units are well equipped for a good time, lots of good movies, flat screen TV, comfortable bed, spacious private lanai. We enjoyed magnificent sunrises, breakfasts, and sunsets with amazing views of the mountains, tropical trees, birds, and smell of the plumeria from the lanai. Our favorite restaurants are: Zia's, Teddy's bigger Burgers, Lucy's, Boots and Kimo's (breakfast), Crepes O Ka Noi. Favorite beaches were Kailua, nearby Lanikai and Hanauma Bay. Will provided suggestions for hikes-- We hiked to Maunawili Falls and Lanikai Ridge (WW II pillboxes overlooking the Bay). The descriptions given are accurate as far as they go, but so much more. The photos are accurate but inadequate to get overall scope. We were pleasantly surprised by the size of the unit, the bathroom, the large lanai, the free laundry facility, the beach toys and chairs. Little touches like flashlights, dish soap, paper towels, shoe horn, so many little things you don't think about, made the visit trouble-free and pleasant. The property is well maintained and clean. Will lives on site and was especially helpful if we had questions. We felt secure and safe at all times. I would highly recommend this town and in particular, this property for a wonderful time on Oahu. We have stayed in Honolulu before and much preferred the island pace and experience at Kailua Guesthouse.
