Just returned from 3 wks here and really enjoyed the unit's location and the resort's perch on the water...5 stars! Just look out and there is the ocean! Hearing the ocean sounds was very relaxing too. Had some initial concerns about unit's proximity to pool (noise, traffic) but it was not a problem. VRBO manager responded quickly to our questions before and had missing beach towels delivered to the unit when we arrived. Great walking access to a variety of beaches (turtles, distance swimming and great snorkeling) and restaurants. Being there 3 wks, an extra set of bed linens and some initial bathroom cleaning supplies would have been appreciated. The resort's cleaning staff office is next door so they congregate with their trolleys in the mornings for about 745 am. If you like to sleep in, this could be an issue. Yes, we had ants too and the resort is well aware of them. During our 2nd week, the exterior kitchen window was sprayed as the unit upstairs was having problems. During the 3rd week, the entire resort, inside and out, was sprayed. They seem to be really on top of the ant issue. We've lived in the Caribbean and have stayed at many upscale VRBO units...ants are a fact of life in the tropics. Would we return to this uni? Yes, absolutely.

Nice Location, but unit has ant infestation

Unfortunately, this unit was over-run with ghost ants during our stay. This overshadowed what would have been a nice unit in a great location. Here is the email I sent to the property manager a week into our 10 day stay: "I want to let you know about an issue with the unit. We have been over-run with ghost ants. You have a major infestation that we can't keep under control, and I would suggest you fumigate the unit before anyone else stays here. We have stayed in about a dozen tropical condos all over - and many had ghost ants, but we have never had a problem like this. We know not to keep any food out (everything, even cereal, is in the fridge), and have repeatedly sprayed, swept, vacuumed, take out garbage immediately...but this is beyond an issue we can control. The ants have been everywhere from the moment we walked in. Some examples: All over the kitchen - I thought when we threw out the dead cockroach they were feeding on under the sink it might get better, but that's not the case. They are in every cabinet and all over - even in the coffee maker. They constantly walk around the counter tops searching, and if they find a crumb we missed a mass of them are on it immediately. On our clothes - hanging in the closet & our suitcases. On our toothbrushes - even though we put toothbrushes in a cup and cleaned the counter top. Inside iPod case and on electronics - maybe they like the oil from our fingers or we had residual food on them. They are streaming around the walls in every room - as soon as I see them I kill them or spray them, but they just find new paths. I can only imagine how many we will bring back home with us. Please let me know if there is something else that can be done to control the ants. I hope you can solve the problem before the next guest stays in the unit." We told the property manager we did not want him to do a major spray while we were staying in the unit, so we just dealt with it during our stay. It was a pain to have to keep everything so clean all the time, and shake ants off your clothes and toothbrushes, and I did use a can of spray in certain infested areas before we went out, but we didn't want to be poisoned by a major spraying. We had friends staying in the complex who did not have any issues with ghost ants, so I suggest picking another unit in Napili Point - it is a fantastic location. Loved the snorkeling with turtles in the bay, easy access to Napili Bay Beach, and outside grills to cook.

Owner response:Aloha to all our future guests. Just to eleviate your anxiety that there are always ants everywhere, that isn't the case. Not sure why or what happened but the complex in many units had this problem suddenly after some heavy rains. A few ants are normal here, but not an infestation. The complex does regular sprays for all pests. These guests were offered a professional service to come in, but they refused it. The ants are again under control. We can only do so much!

Terrible condition, poorly maintained. Serious need of maintenance and thorough cleaning. Rental agency was misleading and unhelpful. Images and description misleading. Now wary of VRBO

Owner response:We are sorry, but ur advertising is not misleading. We have however, fired our previous cleaning people and hired a new service, and done a deep clean, done some minor repairs, and ordered new screens, carpeting in bedroom cleaned among other things These people were also offered a partial refund. We have lots of happy guests!

Excellent Property! We loved being so close to the pool and the beach. The condo was neat and clean on our arrival (exception: messy closet and wet bathmat). The kitchen had adequate cooking supplies. A little short on bathroom towels but we managed. I would recommend this property to others mainly on location. Also the management was flexible with arrival and departure times which helped a lot. Love Napili....will return to Maui soon! Kathy H.

I love Napili, so I have stayed in a number of places around the bay. I have to agree this was by far one of the nicest rooms with a great oceanfront location. For longer stays the 1 bedroom allows for more comfort and privacy It was nicely laid out, well equipped, BBQ's close by and the view was fabulous. The Point is a lovely, quiet, well maintained Condo complex. For just kicking back I give it high marks. One thing I need to touch on is my dealings with Janet and Micheal w/ Tropical Hawaiian Paradise. Amazingly fast and professional. I hadn't dealt with them before and I was a tad nervous about this transaction. They answered all questions same day and most times within minutes. Even the paperwork was e-mailed in a timely fashion and the whole transaction was quite seamless. 5+++ stars for making our vacation arrangements go so smoothly. I was still really nervous... right up until I opened the door to the unit. The room was without a doubt more than we hoped for, Big time... Mahalo Deb and Dan

June -July 2010 I have stated in condos on Maui before but this is the best. This has been our honeymoon and a great choice. You have all the necessary amenities including a boogie boards for my wife, and an almost fishing poll for me. The snorkeling is the best!!! Green sea turtles just hangout in the lagoon even got to see them feeding. We hope to return, S & J

This was our first stay in Napili and we enjoyed it. The view is sensational at all times of the day. Several lovely sunsets, including an occurance of the ‘green flash’!! What good luck for us! It was our family’s first trip to Msaui and were certain we’ll be back. The weather was gorgeours and we were able to see humpback whales, Sea turtles and a monk seal right here at Napili Point.
