This was such a magical place. We loved everything about the cottage, so inviting, cosy and welcoming. The huge wood burner glowing, a glass of wine....who needs anything else! Everything about this holiday was wonderful... I only wished we could have stayed longer. Definitely recommend this property.

The perfect get away!
The perfect get away!
What a place! We had an amazing time. For our first anniversary we wanted somewhere we could get away from the world and relax......and take our dogs. I doubt we could have found a better place. The dogs had a great time in the woods and grounds. It was so peaceful we got the relaxation we wanted. We hope to be back or check out your other house. If its half as good as Ty Bois then it will be amazing! Thanks for allowing us to stay in your wonderful house. Jamie & Dominique And the dogs, Pixie & Raven

Owner response: Thank you for your wonderful comments, it is lovely to hear that other people enjoy our house as much as we and our dogs do. Mitzi
A lovely, magical getaway - the pictures really don't do it justice! The house is tastefully decorated with many homely features and personal nick nacks which makes you feel that the place is yours, not just rented. The surrounding woods and lake are lovely to walk around - we set up a tent and 'camped out' one night. The property is adjacent to a working farm and the farmer and his family are very nice and friendly. We saw a newborn calf while we were there. And as for the pool!...... we went in it every day - the perfect way to cool down, as the weather was hot hot hot!. Did a lot of reading outside on the porch - love the swingy chair! 10/10 Thoroughly recommend it! Thanks Mitzi x

Owner response: Thank you Lyndsay, we feel that the photos do not do it justice we have taken hundreds and they never show it at its best.
This is a very special place and we had a wonderful week there. The cottage is in a most beautiful setting, in its own private woods, very peaceful and quiet. Our dog loved exploring the woodland and we enjoyed relaxing by the heated pool. The cottage was clean and very well equipped. The kitchen had everything that we needed, it also had all the basic provisions which was very useful. There was also a great selection of films and books so we could relax in the evening next to the fire (we couldn't resist lighting it up even though the weather was very warm). There are a number of restaurants and supermarkets nearby and we would highly recommend (for special occasions) L'Auberge Grand Maison in Mur de Bretagne. Cycling routes and walks are on the doorstep too. We would definitely come back.

Just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed our stay at Ty Bois. It was the perfect getaway holiday. The gite was excellent and the location and woodland grounds made it a week to remember. Despite the rural location we found plenty of shops in the nearby village which also had plenty of bars, not that you would spend time drinking in them when you have 4 acres of woodland to roam outside your patio door. The pool was ideal for kids or adults wanting a soak, we were lucky with the weather as the sun was very hot most days, so the pool was ideal to cool down in. There is plenty to do in the surrounding area if you fancy visiting markets / beaches etc, but to be honest we spent most of our time at Ty Bois apart from to nip out to the supermarket for supplies and to get the morning croissants fresh from the village. The gite is designed for modern living but with a traditional feel. The sunrises and sunsets were incredible and we'll definetly be back!

Based upon the descriptions we had read about Ty Bois our expectations were very high. We fully expected that a little bit of poetic license had been used and that the property would be deficient in some way. Ty Bois exceeded expectations. The house is very well equipped. We did a lot of cooking and wanted for nothing. It’s a bit sad but I enjoyed having British TV so I could follow the Test Matches. The showers were excellent, always a good indicator. However good the house was the grounds were better. My highlight was early mornings before the rest of the house stirred, cup of coffee, sat outside with binoculars watching the abundant birdlife, deer, and red squirrels. The girls (10 and 8) loved the pool and trying to find the treasure we hid in the woods. My wife rather liked the Boules court as she kept whooping my ass. The local town, Plumeliau, has everything you need petrol, banks, supermarket, fish monger and of course bread shops, bars restaurants. About 5 miles away is the lovely little village of Saint Nicolas des Eaux. This is a perfect base for cycling up and down the river Blavet, walking, Geochaching, and you can rent kayaks and canoes. It is also great for a drink at the end of a busy day. Ty Bois is only 10 miles ish from the Nante – Brest canal for more cycling and Geocaching. 45 minutes gets you to the coast at the impressive Port Louis. We also enjoyed going to two lakes, one north of Pontivy I can’t remember the name and the other being Lac au Duc to the east near Ploermel both good for swimming and cycling. You can cycle around the Lac Au Duc in 2 to 3 hours. All in all Ty Bois, the grounds and the area met our needs perfectly and it was a privilege to be able to stay there.

Owner response: Thank you for your wonderful comments about Ty Bois. The other lake is Lac du Guerladan. We also enjoy sitting at the front of the house with a coffee listening to the birds and spotting all the wild life and the same again in the evening with a glass of wine.

All bedding, sheets, tea towels etc, bath and hand towels, and pool towels are supplied in with the rental cost as is the electricity, gas, wood for the fire. We require £100 deposit when booking the house. The balance plus £200 refundable breakage charge is payable 6 weeks before the start date of the holiday. The £200 will be refund within 2 weeks provided the house is left in good order. There are so many things to do in the area, from just relaxing by the pool, strolling through the wood, or by the river. Or if you are the energetic type with in easy reach is the go-karting, Plumeliau, canoeing, archery St Nicholas des Eaux, horse riding and 9 hole golf at Gieuzy-les-Eaux, the forest adventure park, zip wires, tree top adventures at Camours, sailing, water ski-ing, jet sking either at Lac de Guerledan. Lac du Duc or at the coast (nautismebretagne.fr) The closest beaches are in the Gulf de Morbihan and spread for miles and miles, Carnac is a good place to start with the childrens area, little white train that take you to see the standing stones. The penisula to Quiberon has long empty sandy beaches. We recomend Trinite-sur-mare for fish restuarants lunch time or evening, Vannes market on Saturday morning and the chapel of St Gildas, near St Nicholas des Eaux, all the other things are too numerous to mention but we do have brochures at the house for inspiration.
