We had friends coming from Africa who had never been to America before. I wanted this to be special and memorable for them. Carmen went above and beyond to be sure I had everything we needed upon our arrival since we were flying in from Texas to meet our African friends and had no time to buy food for the next AM. One of our African boys who was on the trip was also going to experience his first birthday ever at age 20. I had no time to put it all together so Carmen offered her help. She bought birthday gifts, birthday cards, birthday deco, birthday cake, welcome gifts for our guests, a couple days worth of food and was willing to help in several other ways as well. She was just phenominal. The house is RIGHT on the beach with an outrageous view from the master suite upstairs (takes up the entire top floor), the living room, dining room and kitchen as well as another Queen suite. The hottub is right on the deck and facing the ocean for an exceptional view as well. The house is perfect for a family with kids or teens or large groups because of its set up. The main floor has 4 bedroom, top floor has the master and downstairs has a pool table, large t.v. with surround sound, bar, chess table and another gambling table (I dont gamble so I dont know what you call it) and it also has a suite and a washer and dryer downstairs. Its a large space and it keeps the kids entertained while you enjoy the view upstairs without the kids interrupting or loud noises. There is also another washer and dryer on the main level so with large groups, you are really able to keep up with the laundry. The service was impecable and the house is fantastic. You can't go wrong. The ONLY thing I didn't like is the the master upstairs has steps leading up to it from the main level and there is no door to keep the noise from traveling so if you're upstairs and like to sleep in and have a large group, forget it. Its still worth it though because when you wake up in our ultra comfy bed all you see is ocean all around you from your bed. Its amazing. Manzanita is a really cute little town with a spa, grocery stores, shopping and restaurants. Its just adorable and there are plenty of local beach activities along with horseback riding and on and on. You can't go wrong.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I found the Lago Mar I by simply searching VRBO. I found it hard to rent larger oceanfront homes that can accomodate big families so I was thrilled to find this wonderful beach home. The home owner contacted me after I inquired on VRBO and was incredibly nice and professional. He provided a lot of information to help with things to do and food etc. I will definitely rent this home again. The house was better than the pictures describe and I was completely satisfied with my stay. The house was super clean and sanitized (new dish sponges/dishsoap etc). The house is kept is great working condition. We easily and comfortably fit 11 people here. The sound/music system is fancy and allows music to play around the house or limited to certain quadrants. The views are beyond spectacular and nothing beats sitting in the warmth of a house while watching the waves crash. The hot tub is private and relaxing and has amazing views of the ocean! The only problems with the house seemed to be cause by people: I slept in the basement room and the manager said that that room tends to run on the cooler side. The 2nd night I went to bed I was freezing cold, as if I was sleeping outside, but I found out the next morning that some of my family members had turned down the thermostat on that side of the house. Be sure to check that out before bed. Also, some previous renters had set a wake up alarm for the basement room on the fancy sound system and I woke at 8am to a loud ringing sound that was discombobulating. I was concerned at first and quite annoyed, but I ran upstairs and found that a wake up call was set and turned it off. I had restful sleep the rest of the weekend! Luckily no one else in the house could hear this alarm. I love the town of Manzanita and can't wait for my next visit! Check out the the cute boutiques, especially Salt & Paper, and Manzanita Sweets.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

This place is amazing! The location is unbeatable -- right on the beach with expansive views -- and the accommodations are first rate. Everything has been done with great attention to detail, from the high quality of the bedding to the impressive entertainment system. The kitchen has high-end appliances and is fully stocked with quality cookware. We brought our own highchair and port-a-crib for our one-year-old, but it wasn't necessary -- the house had those and just about everything you could want (including cupcake tins, which we had also brought to make birthday cupcakes). Being able to walk to the market or to restaurants is an added bonus. This home is a wonderful place to spend time with family and friends without being crammed together. We'll be back for sure!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This 'home' was so perfect for the 14 of us (7 adults, 7 children ages 3 - 13) that this was our second year here AND the unanimous 'vote' was that we return here next year! The amenities are incredible; we did not 'want' for anything in the kitchen, bar area (ice cube maker is great!), game room downstairs, or barbeque or.....throughout the house! Everything was spotless when we arrived! The hot tube was well used, the bedrooms varied in size, and thus 'fit' all of us just as we wanted, the huge digital tv/music set up is amazing! Football on Sunday? No better place to watch it than here! Well, the guys said that!! The location is perfect. It is a short walk to town (groceries, shops....) and being so close to the beach is a huge asset. The children love the sand: they had 15 minutes before leaving in the morning, and those 15 were enjoyed right outside the door.......romping in the sand! I will recommend this house to anybody, everybody, including family and friends! Well, as long as they don't want it the days WE do!! I would have 13 peopleVERY upset with me!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.

This house is amazing. This was my second time staying here, this time for a late Thanksgiving celebration. We had a large group including five kids under nine years old. Our group was so big, we spilled over into the "little" house next door. That was a huge benefit to have the (equally cool) second house available. It was typical windy and wet December weather when we were there, but since the house is right on the beach, we could jump outside whenever the sun was out. When it was too dark to go outside, we were able to stay entertained by what was inside; the table tennis and the poker table were a hit. The house is GIANT - the dining table seated all the adults at the same time. The kids could play in the loft or the lower level without impacting the conversation in the kitchen/dining area. The house was super clean, all the beds are terrific, and there were extra linens/blankets/pillows easily located. As a mom, I appreciated having two laundry units right in the house. As a cook, I appreciated all the cooking tools (nice knives!), baking sheets, blender, etc. We look forward to returning when we can.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

I had the pleasure of staying at this gorgeous home this past weekend. I don't know how I will be able to stay anywhere else after staying here. The home was beautiful, gorgeous view and tastefully decorated. It was even better than we expected. The house was well stocked with everything we needed. Carmen, Property manager, was responsive and available during the entire time we rented. Owner and manager were extremely helpful when we decided to move to the larger house. Considering we were making more work for them they were very gracious. The view is amazing from every room, the master bedroom upstairs is incredible. I spent hours staring out at the beach! I highly recommend this gorgeous home and we are planning on our return visit soon.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

One would think that by paying top dollar for a week including a very large fee for cleaning everything would work and be clean. Not so for this place! Very dirty almost everywhere following close inspection. Some amenities noted on webpage were missing or damaged and appear to have been so for some time based on prior renter comments. Had to call property mgr nearly every day--eventually reponded but blamed owner for minimizing expenses to maximize profits. Owner has yet to reply. Would be awesome if clean and as depicted and described. We do not recommend this place and suggest VRBO drop it.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners.

The house was well located directly on Manzanita Beach. It was large enough to accommodate our family reunion of 18 (8 children). The family had a great time there, especially the beach. However, I would rate the cleanliness of the house as "good" at best. It could have been cleaner. Also, we identified a leak from the upstairs suite into the kitchen, and a leak from the dishwasher that went unrepaired. The loft was somewhat of a surprise as it required younger and nimble people to access without a problem. Older occupants might decide not to use it because of difficult ladder access. The speaker system in the main room and kitchen area did not work, and although we notified the property manager, no one ever fixed it or showed us how it worked. The WIFI was suspect. It worked some of the time but not consistently. The outdoor spa malfunctioned several times and was quickly fixed by the maintenance people. This property could have been a five star if the property was in better "ship shape". I believe the turnover of tenants with only 4 hours to properly clean and check out the workings of the mechanicals would have avoided many of the shortcomings we experienced.Recommended for: Families with young children

A beautiful home, spotlessly clean, on an incredibly gorgeous beach - everything was perfect for our group of 16 people of all ages from 11 to 80. The kitchen was awesome and well supplied with everything of the highest quality. Also my compliments to arrangements for taking care of maintenance problems - the first morning half the house had no hot water but a call to the office and a maintenance man arrived within 5 minutes and we immediately had hot water again. I can't praise it highly enough - it was an ideal vacation!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway.

How to describe the absolutely marvelous, well equipped, well maintained, perfectly layed out home that accommodated 4 families, including 14 people ages 2 - 68 with total 'ease', is tough! The spacious rooms were 'cozy' enough when some of us nestled into one of their very comfortable couches, but also perfect when we all were in the same room as one big family. We all loved the 'extra' refrigerators, extra bathrooms, extra etc....... besides the hot tub, the grill (with extra propane (even!!).etc.!!! Two DVD's? but that too was great when a football game was on and the kids wanted to watch Star Wars! I have to comment on the absolutely comfortable beds. The first morning everybody (except the 2 and 5 year old, I'll admit) commented on the fabulous beds! Of course being right on the beach is wonderful! The description does not do this home justice, but at least there will be no surprises, except good ones!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This home is absolutely beautiful and more than I imagined! The drive into Manzanita from the north is every bit as spectacular as noted in the description, and when you walk into the house you’re immediately taken by the amazing view of the beach, ocean, and surrounding area – the photos don’t do it justice! I rented the house for a reunion of well-travelled girlfriends from around the country. They couldn’t have been more pleased with the home, setting, location, and experience. We thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub, sound system, projection screen TV, large number of beautiful and comfortable bedrooms/bathrooms, and having everything we needed to prepare and serve a full dinner one night – the kitchen is truly stocked with prep and serving items for just about any meal. And, the walk to the beach is a quick and easy jaunt down a set of stairs from the house. It was super easy to build a bonfire on the beach with a starter log we purchased at the local grocery and some wood provided at the house. Manzanita is a lovely town with a number of great boutiques, coffee shops, restaurants and two grocery stores. The walk to town from the house is just a few short blocks, via the beach or street, which gave the early risers in our group a number of options without the need for a car. In addition, there was no need for a designated driver when we had dinner and drinks at the San Dune Pub, which I highly recommend along with Bread and Ocean for any meal. The owner and his team were wonderful to work with from initial questions I had about the home’s amenities and signing the rental agreement, to providing links to a number of websites about the area with information that helped me plan our weekend. In addition, a local “concierge” met us at the house when we arrived. Not only did she walk us through the home and how to work the media system, hot tub, etc., she checked in with me throughout our stay to make sure everything was perfect. I have already recommend this house to friends and plan to rent it again, hopefully for a longer stay next time!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

July 21-31/09 Our three kids their spouses and our grandchildren, all enjoyed this spacious, well appointed Beach house. Our very comfortable Jr. Suite, with a beautiful view of the beach, provided privacy away from the hurly burly of family activity. Beach walks, and close by hiking trails provided activity for those who wanted it. Our daughters cooked delicious family dinners, thanks to nearby fresh seafood and a beautiful well equipped kitchen. One of the highlights was watching the sunset, as we ate s'mores at our evening out door fire. Thanks for providing the wood. We will return next year.Did you find this review helpful? this house is top notch all the way around. when we walked in and saw the sweeping view we were so happy. the beds are amazing and the bedding and pillows are perfectly soft and comfortable, you will sleep like kings like we did. we also loved the brand new hot tub, the fancy bbq grill and the kitchen had every utensil and tool we could have needed. we had a poker night, played a ton of pool, and the kids played on the beach all day every day. bring a kite, the beach is perfect for it if the breeze picks up. the only hard part was deciding which couple got the master suite, as it was stunning. i have never seen such beautiful sinks in my life. if you rent this place, go for more days than less, we got 3 1/2 days and would have liked to stay for 7! the vold, brown, blik and murphy families.Did you find this review helpful? Our family of diverse ages from a preschooler, to college students, the employed, and retired had a marvelous family reunion for 18 at this spectacular, spacious and well appointed beach house in June '07! The sunsets were glorious; the activities available both inside the house, on the beach and nearby State parks pleased family members of all ages. We are highly recommending this site to friends for future rentals. Nancy and John WebsterDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We walked into this amazing beachfront home and felt like we were entering a photo from Architectural Digest. Exploring the perfectly appointed kitchen put us in mind of HGTV’s Kitchen Trends, and seeing the bedrooms, bathrooms and outdoor spa made us feel we had walked into the pages of Spa Magazine. This was our family’s second visit to this beautiful home and the first visit since its remodel. If there is any other place for rent on the Oregon Coast that combines such a gorgeous setting with these amenities, we don’t know where it is. We made thorough use of everything: Hot tubbing overlooking the daylight ocean, in the dawn fog, and under the nighttime stars. Playing pool (billiards?) in the game room. Letting the sub-woofer go loud on the mega screen video. Lounging, reading, talking and napping in front of the fireplace. Cooking together in the completely equipped, high style kitchen. Feeding seagulls on the beach. And most nourishing of all, experiencing family togetherness around the exquisite dining table.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Our beach stay at this gorgeous home was enjoyed by three generations of family, from baby to grandparent. There was plenty of room to spread out, and the location right on the beach made it possible for the older children to enjoy beach time with parental supervision from the patio. Many amenities added to our week...cool kitchen enjoyed by all of us who enjoy cooking, neat hot tub with sound system, plenty of bathrooms, amazing views. We had such a memorable time with our two families as we celebrated two birthdays and Thanksgiving together. The home is so spacious that we could spread out and come together. The views were outstanding from all of the huge windows throughout the house and of course the easy access to the beach--one step off the deck. One can walk for miles in both directions. The town is very charming and we loved the easy walk to town. Everything we needed was provided in the house. We are planning when we'll rent this beautiful home again with our families. What a gem!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

This is one of the truly most amazing weekend getaways imaginable. The house is large, cozy and most notably, has a panoramic view of the beach and ocean, which adds to the relaxing atmosphere of the home. The home is fully furnished, and we had many family dinners around the table, as well as many pleasant chats in front of the fireplace. Everyone loved the easy access to the beach, where we flew kites and wandered around during the brisk fall. Downtown is very close to the house and we were able to walk and buy our groceries, and really be able to appreciate beach-town comforts. A perfect retreat home! We would definitely love to return.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
