Come enjoy the beautiful Mexican village of Ajijic, Mexico. Only 25 minutes drive from the major city of Guadalajara, Ajijic is on Lake Chapala, the largest lake in Mexico.
This quaint village is 450 years old, still has its original cobblestone streets, has wonderful shopping, restaurants for every taste and charming friendly people. It is also noted for its temperate climate. The summer has lows each night of low 60’s, with a high daily of low 80’s.
Ajijic was written up in AARP Magazine in March/April issue for its retirement benefits. The entire Lake Chapala area has the largest settlement of US and Canadian citizens outside of the US and Canada. Ability to speak Spanish is a plus but by no means a necessity.
Enjoy the “Tiangas”, the local market on Weds. The market is full of handmade jewelry, embroidered clothes, leather goods, and fresh produce, plus the native food stands. The yogurt and cheeses here are beyond compare.
Within an hour of Ajijic, you can take a private tour of the opal mines in La Magdelena, buy yours or put on a hard hat and dig your own. Visit the tequila factories and sample the wares or check out more opal mines in Tequila. There are bus tours daily to places of interest such as the Teuchitlan Pyramids, Tonala and Tlaquepaque, and a Guadalajara city tour.
Twenty restaurants are within walking distance of the Casa. The Plaza is three short blocks where there is public dancing on Saturday nights. You can have a wonderful vacation and not leave the Village. Within a few minutes drive is a Spa with native hot springs, mud baths, and massages.
Everything is available here for your enjoyment. The Casa is a typical Mexican house with terrazza across the front. It looks out over the pool. It is an outside entertaining area with built in tile barbecue, seating area. The living room has a fireplace and french doors that fully open to the terrazza from the living room and the dining area.
The house is painted inside and out in bright Mexican colors. The pool is large enough to swim laps. This smoke-free house is two doors down from listing #44081 so it can be combined for large group or family rental.
The back yard has a large avocado tree, and lime tree as well as a red guava. The house and surroundings are spirit lifting and welcoming.
