We have three condo units available in the same resort. You will love these 2 bedroom, 2 bath condos with a beautiful view of the Gulf of Mexico and a spacious 1,100 square feet of room to call your own. One is gulf front and located on the second floor, another is on the ground floor and also has a view of the gulf and the third is a second floor unit with a view over the courtyard and pool. They are all located within the newly renovated Sand Cay Beach Resort, on the gorgeous beaches of Longboat Key, and near the cultural haven of Sarasota. The resort is on the beach side of the island and has its own private beach area, lounge chairs and umbrellas. The Sand Cay buildings run in the shape of a horseshoe with the open end toward the beach, and is a smaller resort so all of the units are very close to the beach and pool. The resort is also equipped with elevators. This will be a vacation you will always remember.
The online calendar represents times when one or more of one of the units are available. Please inquire as to the dates and units you desire and if there is any flexibility in either the unit or the dates. The resort requires a three day minimum stay.
Our Condos
GULF FRONT SECOND FLOOR UNIT:
Our gulf front condominium has a beautiful view of the Gulf of Mexico not only from the balcony, but from the living room as well (see the first ten photos). We only recently purchased our place, but in 2013 we replaced all the carpet, put in all new stainless steel appliances, bought new living room furniture, replaced mattresses, added ceiling fans in the bedrooms, put in new flat screen HDTV’s and Blue Ray players (Netflix/Pandora, etc. capable), replaced the bedding and wall hangings, and made several other improvements. If you like to spend time on the patio, you will love the beautiful new table with balcony height swivel chairs and the chaise reclining lounge chair with ottoman and end table. There is also an umbrella for the patio. We upgraded the kitchen utensils to make dining at home easy. We also added some fun stuff like a wine bottle fridge and an espresso machine and coffee grinder, you know, the essentials. We also purchased a play pen, stroller and high chair for our littlest guests! The condo has a wi-fi connection. There are flat screen HDTV’s in the living room (40') and both bedrooms (32') with over 200 channels and the closet near the front door harbors beach toys, three new coolers and ice packs for the beach and two beach umbrellas. The unit is also equipped with Wi-Fi. We also installed a safe in the Master Bedroom closet. Our unit has a private parking space which is right next to the stairs and elevator. The condo is a two bedroom, two bath, with a queen sized sleeper sofa in the living room. The master has a king sized bed and the guest bedroom has two singles, so the condo can sleep six comfortably. Our unit has a very nice view of the beach as well. It is very relaxing sitting on the deck and watching the waves roll in!
GULF VIEW GROUND FLOOR UNIT:
If you like convenience and privacy, our ground floor unit is the one for you. The middle five photos pictured are of this ground floor unit. It has a walk out patio that leads you directly to the beach and grilling area in just a few steps. As the unit patio faces the exterior beach side (as opposed to the interior of the resort), you do not have people walking by your unit, so you have a high degree of privacy in this unit. And if you like to walk out to the beach, or like to grill, you are only steps away from both from your own patio. The unit also has its own washer and dryer. It has a king sized bed in the master, two twins in the guest bedroom and a pull out sleeper sofa in the sitting room next to kitchen. We just installed new carpet in this unit and have new Living Room furniture on order, to be delivered late May, 2013.
The ground floor unit rents at rates that are 10% less than those shown below for the Gulf view second floor unit.
GARDEN VIEW SECOND FLOOR UNIT:
This unit is very nicely done inside, the décor is beautiful and the bathrooms and kitchen are recently updated and gorgeous. The furnishings throughout are first class as well. The view from this unit is out over the courtyard and pool, though you can see a little of the water and beach between the units to the west. This unit has a spacious Living Room as well as Dining Room and nice patio furniture as well. The ground floor unit rents at rates that are 20% less than those shown below for the Gulf View second floor unit.

Longboat Key
Longboat Key is a safe, quiet beach community. While there are restaurants and stores for your needs, it is a very “residential” community compared to most beach front areas that can be crowded, have traffic congestion, and noisy. So, Longboat is perfect for relaxing with friends and family. You will enjoy the mild temperatures all year round, with highs in the winter months averaging in the low seventies and breezes off of the Gulf in the summer. The beaches in this area rate as tops in the nation by numerous publications and the beautiful white sandy beach directly in front of Sand Cay is no exception. Spend time on the beach lounging and watching the birds as you all enjoy the warm water and soft white sand! Longboat offers numerous activities as well; golfing, fishing (from shore or boat), biking (bike rental is right next door), bird watching, walks along the beach or on the walking/biking trail that runs right by the resort are a few of the casual activities available on the island. All of your needed conveniences are nearby as well. Longboat has a large grocery store, a CVS pharmacy, and several nice restaurants. It also has several churches and a synagogue right on the island. If this is your first visit, you will see why Longboat was recently rated the #2 island destination in North America by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine. Just across the bridge is St. Armands Circle, with numerous unique shops and outstanding restaurants. On the adjacent mainland is the town of Sarasota, with abundant cultural activities such as opera, museums, art exhibits and numerous dining and shopping opportunities. Included among them are the galleries of the Ringling Museum of Art and live theater at Van Wezel Performing Arts Center and Aloso Repertory Theatre. Other attractions are the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens and Joan Durante Park. A family favorite, the Mote Marine has Gulf related marine life exhibits and touching pools. Just about an hour up the interstate is Busch Gardens which has rides, shows, animal attractions and lots of fun for the whole family. Within about a three hour drive is Disney World in Orlando. Closer to home, right next door is the Hilton Hotel which also has a good restaurant and an outdoor tiki bar and offers jet ski, boat and bike rentals. We have found the restaurant very convenient to walk over and have a quick meal. The area around Longboat offers numerous other activities as well, so, while Longboat is quiet and peaceful, it isn’t isolated.
Sand Cay Beach Resort
Our development, Sand Cay Condominiums Beach Resort, is, simply, gorgeous. While staying at another complex, my wife and I were walking up the beach. The outside beauty of Sand Cay tempted us to walk into the resort and take a look around, so we did. What we found was a newly renovated beach resort that has a tremendous outward appeal. It was then that we decided that Sand Cay would be the focus of our search for a Florida condo. We discovered later that Sand Cay had recently completed a $10,000,000.00 renovation, and the results are beautiful. Many resorts in the area are overdue for such renovations, and Sand Cay stands out as a very upscale, modernized resort by comparison. Since the resort has only 60 total units, and only six in each building, it provides a very comfortable, casual and uncrowded atmosphere. Sand Cay has great management as well and is rated #1 on Longboat in its class on tripadvisor.com. It sits right on its own private, beautiful, soft white sandy beach (our beach is rated #2 in the U.S. in some national publications). We have a very large heated pool, tennis and basketball courts, shuffleboard, a free paddleboards, grilling area and lots of activities. There is a large open grassy area for the children to play and beautiful landscaping all around. The resort has a full time staff and provides basketballs, tennis rackets, beach toys, lounge chairs around the pool and for the private beach area, beach umbrellas, linens, bath and beach towels. Next door is the Hilton hotel which rents jet skis, bicycles and sail boats. Located in the middle of the island, Sand Cay has convenient access to all of the island’s pleasures.

Let me start out by saying that my family and I stayed in the second floor Gulf view condo. It was me, my husband, and my 3 children. We loved every minute of our time spent there. The condo was in perfect condition. And the staff at Sand Cay were wonderful to work with. Everything about our time there was just as you always dream about. We would wake up and have some coffee and esspresso on the deck, while listening to the waves and smelling the ocean. It was perfectly serene. And the pool was beautiful. And the beach...well, that was simply perfection. It also helped that Sand Cay had plenty of chairs already on the beach for our use. What a wonderful feature. But the fabulous condo wouldn't have been nearly as fabulous without the amazing owners. They were always so prompt with their communication and kept me feeling secure, knowing that if I had any question at all, I could get an answer from them, without having to wait a week for a reply. We are already making plans for an entire family vacation at Sand Cay next summer. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect vacation. Thank you for helping us make lasting memories!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My friends and I stayed at this property (the ground floor unit) for a week and had an absolutely fabulous stay! I must admit I was a bit reluctant at first because I had wanted to stay where we had last year, but I am so glad we made the switch. Even though we didn't have a direct view of the gulf (unless we stood up in the courtyard), the privacy more than made up for it. The way the unit is situated, we never saw another person pass in front of our unit and we had a lovely private courtyard where we had our coffee in our jammies each morning :) And the beach was only steps away, where we spent a good deal of our time walking, shelling and sunbathing. The ocean was warm and delightful to swim in, but the pool was also great for a change of pace. The unit itself was exceptionally well-equipped and the only thing we had to buy was food. The kitchen is newly renovated and very well designed. The beds were comfortable and the apartment was very well maintained. And I cannot say enough about the on-site management company and how helpful and friendly they were. We inquired if there were a place we could purchase beach umbrellas and lo and behold they had some available for free. They had movies for free and coffee and donuts each morning. Any question we had about the area, they answered with a smile. There was a small snafu when we arrived about the key, but they quickly worked it out and couldn't apologize enough, even though it really wasn't a big deal. And the owner of the unit was also exceedingly helpful and welcoming, answering any questions we had extremely promptly and making sure we had a lovely time. We definitely hope to rent with him again next year! As for Longboat Key, we always love exploring new restaurants and things to do. This year we did Segways in Anna Maria Island (ask for Casey), and Jet Skiing in Cortez (oh man the dolphins!), along with renting a pontoon boat in Cortez. The Sandbar restaurant in Anna Maria island is fabulous (ask for a table with your toes in the sand). We found a new gem in St Armand's Circle - La Malinche Mexican restaurant is totally authentic, and don't forget dessert (ice cream of course) at Killwin's in the Circle. Can't wait for next year!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: My wife and I both grew up, and still live in, Omaha, Nebraska. Business brought us to Sarasota several years ago and we liked the area so much we decided to look into purchasing a place in the area. It was a long hunt, but we finally found the treasure. Having just recently purchased, our boys are anxious to establish their second home in a much different climate and landscape! We are similarly eager to share our place with our guests!
Why the Owner Chose Sand Cay Beach:
We have been looking at acquiring a beachfront property for years before finally purchasing this unit on Longboat. The area offers a safe, peaceful environment, yet still has the essentials in very close proximity. There is a large grocery store, pharmacy, shops, restaurants and pubs, and other activities, all while maintaining a very homey, residential feel. This is what attracted us to Longboat. Sand Cay's beauty and great management made the decision to focus on a property in this association an easy one. We hope you will enjoy your stay, and please send us any suggestions for bettering our place, as we want our guests to have as pleasurable a stay as possible. Sand Cay, with its beauty, friendliness and great management can and will accomplish this objective. Very well maintained grounds and amenities, without the pretentiousness, make staying at Sand Cay a relaxing pleasure.

We have only recently purchased our units, but have already replaced all the carpet, installed all new stainless steel appliances, replaced living room furniture and mattresses and generally upgraded the Gulf Front condo to a new level. Other upgrades are constantly in the works for the other units as well. This in combination with the beautiful view of the Gulf of Mexico make it an ideal vacation spot!
