Each of these three bedroom, two bath properties (additional Jacuzzi tub that accomodates 2 in the first floor Master Bedroom) are are fully equipped with double master bedrooms, and bunkbeds in the third bedroom. All bedrooms have a television (DVD on request). Each of these homes offer a full size washer and dryer.

My family & I had a wonderful time. Spectacular views from upstairs and downstairs! We loved being able to walk out the downstairs bedroom right on to the sand. The on sight manager was very attentive and helpful. If you are expecting a 5 star hotel, this is not the place for you but for the price and location it can't be beat. We were very comfortable and we can't wait to come back.

We recently spent a few days here, and my family and I loved it! It was just what we needed to relax and play at the beach. Thanks for renting to us and thank you to the on-site managers for sharing your firewood to help with our smores and boogie boards. My wife and I (and kids) appreciated it. :) It was a perfect mini get away and we will be back!

That was a great family experience, The beach is right there, Beautifull views and sounds, Daily Dolphins, Seals and sea birds, The early morning and late afternoon walks with the dog on beach was a blast, all water & beach activities whenever you wish, Sunset BBQ on terrasse, Waking up with sunrises...Already starting to miss it. All shopping needs in walk or short drive range, Easy going community. All minimum confort is provided, A bit more Dining space could be a plus. Can't wait to see the patio completed. Discreet but highly effective Manager is right there for anything needed. In Brief, if the 4 Seasons Hotel standards is a must, this may not be for you, otherwise, this is a must try.

We recently spent our second visit at Montauk. Here's the thing: for the price you pay for this on the sand duplex, it offers a great value. That being said, it is motel nice, not hotel nice- but what views! The sound of the surf.... Each visit we've made has been great. Yes, there are a few homeless guys in the area, but the area residents are tight knight and a local told me that there has been no problem with burglaries or other crimes. Pluses: there is a great new jacuzzi tub in the giant, steps to the sand downstairs master bedroom; all three bedrooms have ocean views; and the beauty of the beach and the views of Ventura peninsula far surpass beach views at my local Huntington Beach. We will be back.

This was our second summer staying at the Montauk Ln beachhouse. We had a great time with the wonderful views, right on the ocean, and we enjoy the little beachtown there with a variety of restaurants with good food. We also enjoy going into Ventura, Main Street, the Farmers Market is wonderful ! Being right on the ocean makes the whole trip. The weather was beautiful and the water temperature was okay ! It was fun. Keep up the good work! The onsight management was very helpful and accommodating. A good idea. We heard that all of the construction going on in between the two beachhouses is supposed to be a patio. That would really be a great addition !

I Need A Vacation From This Vacation

Our family of five stayed for a week. The view from the living room and the location were great, but there are too many issues to make this a relaxing and comfortable home. The smell upon entrance is musty and of cigarretes smoke. The blankets in master bedroom had urine stains and the room stunk. We all ended up with bed bug bites and flee bites. Only some of the beds linens had been washed. I spent the first day washing all linens and matress pads that were grey from dirt. The sofa had crackers and sand behind every cushion. I can't belive they charge for cleaning! Some of the cutting knives were put back on the knife block without being washed. The room with bunkbeds had a gas smell. None of the DVR's were conected and only one remote control worked. On the side of the house there was a large area filled with contstuction material, nails and boards, which was unappealing and unsafe. The fridge smelled of fish, even after adding baking soda to it. Arranging a good cleaning crew would really make a diffrence in this place.
Owner response:Dear Guests, We would like to first apologize for the problems you had. I wish you had brought these issues up to me upon your check-in when we met one another. The musty smell is likely from the humidity of being located on the beach. I will discuss dehumidifiers with the owner. The rental agreement states no smoking in the houses. This apparently was not respected by the previous renters. Per our phone conversation after you left, you found stains on the upstairs master bedroom linens. I am unsure why there were stains. The cleaning crew removes the bedding from the previous renters, and washes the linens. Had I known you were unhappy, I would have made brought and installed new linen for you promptly. Our appologies in regards to the sofa cushions, crumbs and sand you found under them. I have instructed the cleaning crew to remove all knives from the blocks to make sure they are clean. I had a plumber come out and check the gas lines near the home and there were no leaks. Apparently someone must have needed the cables that attached the DVD playes to the TVs more than we do. This also would have been a quick fix with contacting me next door to you. The construction going on between the houses is a deck that is in the process of being built. You and I have taked on the phone, and I have emailed the pest control report in regards to your bed bug statement. I had a pest control company out to inspect the home for bed bugs. Their inspection and report came back negative. If any future renters would like to view this report, I will happily email them the report. The refrigerators are cleaned after every renter vacates. Apparently this refrigerator was not cleaned well enough. Unfortunately I was unaware of this until after your vacation. We cannot address and rectify any problems that renters may have if we are unaware of them until after their stay. I was fortunate enough to meet you upon your check-in. Had I known you were having problems from the get go, I would have rectified them for you immediately. Our management team and owner are all reachable through various phone numbers. The rental agreement, the paperwork to acccess the internet as well as the welcome card we left upon check-in. Being on-site, we are reachable pretty much at all times if need be. This review is long over due. We rented this beach house recently, what a great time my family and I had. We read the previous reviews and were a bit "iffy" and hopeful that the property owner had taken care of the negative review problems. Since we have a rental property as well, we are happy that we didn't let them sway us (we have a mountain get away that we rent out so we are picky). We made sure to talk about what WE wanted/expected with the friendly staff and not base our decision on the reviews. Communicating is something that my wife and I do before we rent any vacation home. Since is was Mothers Day, what a surprise we all had. There was a "Happy Mothers Day" ballon and a small bouquet of flowers. Immediatley my wife and mom knew it was "their" vacation. The views were just as told...beautiful. I'm glad I chose to bring the family to the beach. There is nothing but beach and ocean before you. Even though it was Mothers Day, I knew I was in for a treat as well. It was a bit overcast, but still beautiful. The beach is RIGHT before your eyes. We loved that we could actually watch our kids (and mom) playing from the house or deck (yep, we still made mom baby sitter, she loves it anyway). This allowed us to have "our" time which was much needed. This place is romantic and fun for the family all in one. Since this is a "review" not everything was as expected. We only rent our place to friends and family so we have a guest book that people can make suggestions and feed back (yep, we read it and correct items!). We appreciate the feed back (whether positive or negative) and are constantly trying to make it a better stay each time. SO...corrective criticism time: Amenities, I wasn't impressed with the cookware,(I love to cook & never expect them to be like mine). I learned to bring my favs with me and ALWAYS seasonings (serect goodies). I learned that no one has cooking "stuff" like I do. I asked about salt & pepper (test them), it was there, as I expected clumped from moisture. The cleaning could've been better, but sand is sand. Seating was so so, we knew that though. More towels, cleaning supplies would have been great. We had a car cover so no sand pelting, more drawers please, no meth freaks on our stay. To close to public? it's a state beach. It was great having onsite Mgmt as well (very friendly too). We'll be back, to bad July is full as it's the wifes bday month :( Mine is is Sept though! We will be getting in touch, Thanks guys!

Location, location, location! The location couldn't have been better. There were, however, many things that made our vacation less enjoyable. Upon arriving, we had no towels or blankets, there were mouse droppings in the kitchen drawers and earwigs in the cupboards. We have been renting homes along the California coast for Thanksgiving for many years and have always had varying amounts of disposable kitchen supplies. There were none. Not a paper towel, napkin or even salt and pepper. I also felt it should be clear in the description that there was no dining room. There was a small table that could be pulled out and unfolded, but there were no chairs. We ate Thanksgiving dinner on the sofa and had not a single complaint about the view! The final two issues that I'd like to raise are that the dryer hose was not connected to an outside vent, so the house became very humid when we did laundry, and most importantly there was no smoke detector. Is that even legal?
Owner response:Virginia, we regret that your stay wasn't perfect and we apologize (even if late) for all the inconveniences. Since your review everything has changed. This response is mostly for the people who would like to vacation here and are concerned with the issues presented in this review. All of the beach homes are upgraded - new sets of towels, new dishes and silverware as well as brand new bedding. The cleaning team was renewed and the new maids are doing a great job. The cleaning is thorough and the renters will find everything they need upon arrival: plenty of clean towels, fresh beds, clean kitchen and dishes as well as kitchen towels. Regarding the dining area, there is no formal dining room, however people can serve breakfast or dinner in the living room. One of the homes has a kithen nook with tall chairs. Another house has a full table and the other house has a round table with chairs. As a side note, these homes are beachfront properties and were not designed for formal diners, etc. The mild humidity will always be around due to the houses being located on the beach, so we cannot escape the weather conditions. (Not sure what the dryer hose issue was all about, but if there was, it was a minor fix and it was rectified) The salt/pepper and any other cooking spices, these are all items that anyone should bring when renting any vacation property and would not rely nor have that as a make or break deal. We would recommend to bring your own likes in regards to those items. The smoke detectors have always been an issue with any rental property being that when they sound off due to cooking, smoking etc., the first thing people do is remove the noise which means taking out the battery to most and not removing the smoke from cooking, or smoker from the home. We hope the information about the current conditions will be helpful for all those who would like to spend a nice vacation here. There is no reason of concern and if there will be any issues, the on-site management will take care of all the requests.

Totally disappointed. The property did not appear to be setup for anybody to live in, let alone rent for a week. The front door knob was falling off. The TV did not get any picture. There wasn't any cutlery and the drawers had mouse droppings. The furniture was disgusting - dirty and broken. The garage was being utilized by the owner for his staff as he owns several homes/hotel. No trash service so trash bins overflowing and neighbors angry. No wind break so cars pelted with sand and driveway had mound; barely functional. Yard is shared with meth freaks. Location too close to public with lots of druggies, etc. Definately pass!

As for future renters, please allow me as the on-site manager to answer a few concerns that may arise from this old review. I have been living on the property since September of 2010 and was keeping an eye on things while living as a tenant. I have since been asked to become the on-site manager. Throughout our stay we have not had any issues with mouse droppings, trash service, angry neighbors, nor any shady individuals trying to utilize or share any of our property facilities. A wind break would be a great idea, however with the City of Ventura and the planning to creating a larger wall along the beach, would obstruct the views they are trying to preserve. Being that the homes are directly on the beach, we cannot prevent Mother Nature from blowing the sand where she chooses. We are in the process of making the garges usable so that the guests will be able to park inside as well. As for being to close to the public, these homes are located on the beach which happens to be a State beach so we cannot control what kind of people visit the beaches. However, the local law inforcement and the lifeguards are doing their jobs in maintaining the safety of the area and of the people who are living/vacationing on the beaches. Since there is now on-site management we are here to handle any of the problems that may become on anyone's vacation. I hope this addresses any of the past concerns for the future tenants.
