Situated 80 yards from the white sandy beaches of Punta Uva, the Beach House is a fine example of rustic elegance in the midst of the lush Caribbean coast of Costa Rica. Built in 2002 with native hard woods like: nispero, sura and casha.

The house can accommodate up to five people and is fully equipped with a bathroom, two bedrooms, and a kitchen that includes a refrigerator, a stove, dishes, silverware, pots and pans.

In addition to the high ceilings and wide open shutters, the front wall consists of folding doors that connect the interior and the outdoors, creating an airy and comfortable feeling and offering you a view of the jungle from all directions.

Natural light pours through a skylight rooftop in the bathroom and kitchen. The iguana motif on doors, walls, and the exquisitely detailed bar in the kitchen serve as reminders of the craftsmanship that went into the making of this jungle cottage.

The beautiful spiral stairway leads to a loft bedroom with a queen size bed, a mosquito net that drapes from the ceiling, and built-in drawers for the storage of personal belongings. The veranda downstairs, with built-in benches and a hammock, is perfect for lounging and observing the exotic array of tropical trees, plants and flowers that are a part of the botanical gardens.

Wake up to the songs of tropical birds and during dusk, you may even see the blinking lights of fireflies dotting the silhouette of the canopy. Other animals abundant in the area include monkeys, sloths, crabs and butterflies. All paths in the property are well-lit during the night.

Both the house and the nearby beach are very private. The Beach House is located in the Manzanillo-Gandoca Wildlife Refuge, in Punta Uva in the province of Limón, Costa Rica. Built/designed by Iguanaverde founder, Edsart Besier. The Beach House is a prime example of ecologically-sound development as promoted by Costa Rica‚s ecotourist industry.
