Located in one of the most desired neighborhoods on the North Shore, you are walking distance to the back side of Alpine Meadows with privileges. There is a private parking pass that will allow you to park right at the Sherwood lift, a quad high speed chair, and get on! Alpine Meadows allows the homeowners living in this neighborhood and/or guests to start here without at ticket and ski to the front side to purchase it. And, the homeowners have their own snow grader which purposely leaves enough snow along the roads so you can ski home if you want to leave your group. Don't ski? Enjoy the hut at the lift for morning coffee, lunch, or just watching all the activity on the hill. In the summertime, the cat tracks become a playground for mountain biking and hiking. Endless trails with Lake views and wildflowers will keep you entertained. The snow melts into Ward Creek which is easily accessed from the house, known for its trout fishing. Tennis? yep...2 homeowner tennis courts are here for your use. Ward Valley is known for its peaceful setting of houses divided by forest land and views that are breathless. Just up from the Lake at Sunnyside Resort, you have total peace at the house, and 3 miles away you're at the Lake with shops, restaurants, nightlife, and an array of activities. Tahoe City is the city to be in on the North Shore. With Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley, and Homewood at your doorstep, you won't be able to ski a run twice. The winter months is a haven for skiing, snow boarding snow snowmobiling. cross county skiing, and with its backdrop the Lake.. you can't beat the experience. Summer is as good as the winter. The Truckee River opens its doors to the melting snow which offers a nice river for rafting. You can pick up your raft in Tahoe City and cruise down to River Ranch. Its mild enough for the whole family. At River Ranch there is a large outdoor deck with BBQ, outdoor bars, and a great spot to watch the rafters come it. Raft 1 day, bike another. You can access the bike path from the house that will meander along the Truckee River to Truckee. River Ranch is a 1/3 way point. Tahoe City boasts Commons Beach, but some of the best beaches on the Lake are found on the West Shore. Meeks Bay has a beach that will remind you of being in a cove somewhere in Hawaii but with mountains. Pristine, crystal clear blue water, white sand beach, smell of tall pines, views of mountains. Its a wonderful setting for a picnic. Chambers Landing is known for the long pier/dock with bar and restaurant at the end of it. This is where all the great wooden boats eventually stop at for a refreshment. The beach is beautiful here, and the entertainment remember able. Can't beat the lakefront restaurants. West Shore Cafe has dining on their pier, with large deck, outdoor bars, and incredible food. 3 miles from the house is Sunnyside Resort with outdoor deck, boat rentals, pier and definitely an afternoon libation. You'll find a multitude of lake front venues in downtown Tahoe City. Lake Tahoe is truly a special place, and this is a special house to enjoy it in....morecollapse

I wanted to surprise my husband for his birthday in a big way and not with the typical party. Our family is spread out from CA., AZ, MD and GA. We have 5 granddaughters ranging in age from 9 months to 7 years, who have never been together due to the distance between us. This was the perfect opportunity to get everyone together. After searching numerous properties all over as the choices were many we settled on he Alpine Chalet. We could not have been happier. This home more than accommodated the 5 girls and 8 adults in our party. The home is beautiful both inside and out. Everything was well maintained and fully stocked with all the necessities. The location to area attractions was great. We all loved being so close to Skiing, but close enough to Tahoe City to enjoy the local eateries. Our younger but legal aged adults enjoyed Pete n Peters which is a local sports bar. My husband and son enjoyed exploring all the great skiing trails at Alpine Meadows. Unfortunately only got three days in due to a huge storm that left amazing skiin for the the remainder of the party who arrived over the weekend. We still had a blast watching the home movies and hanging out, with some of us in the hot tub. You have never experienced a hot tub until done outside, on a covered deck with 3 feet or snow coming down Lol. The mountain views are spectacular as the house faces a beautiful mountain range. I would strongly recommend this property to any type of group from family getaways, to girls or guys weekends, to multiple couples. Something for everyone. I know if I plan another trip to the area I won't have to look far for a place to stay. Thank you Sandy for opening your home!!!

A group of 8 college women (friends since 1973) just got home from a relaxing weekend at the Alpine Chalet. The house is close to the lift, the lake, the shops are restaurants. The house is beautifully appointed... great open floor plan... amazing light. So many windows and absolutely immaculate with fantastic views. Nice open kitchen, enough bathrooms for all, beautiful linens and towels, comfy beds... Enough instructions without getting overbearing... nicely private. We will certainly go back. Thank you for the fast replies and contact.

We stayed with two other families for a total of 12. This place is not even close to what was advertised nor did the photos accurately depict the overall condition of the property. We travel quite a bit on ski trips and this place was one of the least pleasant experiences we have had. Frozen in time from the mid 1970's. The kitchen was tiny, poorly equipped, and with little to no room for storage. Not one room has its own bathroom. Five bedrooms and only two bathrooms. Downstairs is three bedrooms all sharing one bathroom. There was mold in the bathroom/shower areas. That said, the most disturbing issue was the sheer number of spiders we encountered/killed. Disturbing to say the least. Do not recommend.

Owner response: Although I welcome constructive critisim, I'm confused on this complaint. The guest who wrote this is not who booked the house so may have not taken a look at the web site before arriving. The kitchen was totally remodeled in 2002, and has accommodated all the groups prior and after this one with the necessary space and kitchen amenities for their weeks stay. I can't imagine what they didn't have, since they staying in Dec, its now April, and this is our 1st contact since then. i don't advertise any bedrooms with its own bath, except 1/2 bath in the Master bedroom. There is a full bathroom downstairs, and a large sauna shower. On the main floor, another full bathroom that adjoins a queen bedroom, and the Master with 1/2 bath with toilet. There is no mold in the bathrooms or any other place in the house. I do advertise the house is in a quiet pocket of homes surrounded by forest land which is what is so attractive to most. With that comes trees, birds, rabbits, deer, squirrels, and critters. Although my cleaning staff cleans cobwebs on each clean, if you stay a week another one may appear. If you want to get the true feeling of Lake Tahoe...this is the house for you. If any type of wild life bothers you, I offer other homes in San Diego.

We had a wonderful family trip here! Even with 12 people, we had plenty of room for everyone. The views were absolutely stunning and we had a great time sharing meals together in a fully appointed kitchen. Access to Alpine Meadows for skiing was relatively easy walking or driving and using the homeowners parking lot The bedrooms set-ups were perfect for may family. Just a 5 min. car ride to the Lake! We just loved the views from Family Room. You can see all a spectacular mountain range called Twin Peaks. Plenty of throws to get snuggly with, and everything for the kitchen you can imagine. Oh, did I mention the awesome shower by the Sauna? And it was sooo nice to have slippers and robes for us to use while we were there. It was such a nice amenity especially using them to walk from the sauna to hot tub. We will definately rent again from Sandy - if we ski in Lake Tahoe!!

This delightful retreat is always our family's first pick of places to stay when we visit Lake Tahoe. It is situated in a quiet, wooded part of the West Shore in Tahoe City yet close to all the shops and restaurants downtown Tahoe City. We love having lunch at Sunny Side Resort on the Lake just down the street from the house. The lake views are fantastic. The decor is inviting and the amenities abundant. My husbands favorite pastime is coffee and morning paper in the sauna downstairs. Our kids like the jacuzzi, and I appreciate sitting by the fireplace looking enjoying the massive views from the living room windows. We also enjoy being so close to the lifts. We usually drop the kids off and let them ski home as they wish...very convenient! We have stayed here 5 or 6 times over the years and still rate it the best of any spot we've stayed in Tahoe City.

This house was big, secluded, and the landlords were extremely friendly and welcoming! It was clear that they wanted nothing more than to treat us with respect, assuming that we did the same to them and their house. The house itself was incredible, with tremendous views. The owners also were very helpful in leaving ample instructions on how to operate everything. And really, can't beat having a sauna and pool table. This place is well equipped for any kind of group, from families to groups of adults. We went as a group of colleagues, aimed at skiing every day. The proximity to multiple mountains was very nice, and being able to walk to Alpine Medows was really a treat. A shout out to Homewood, which is a small mountain, but you can get some stellar lift ticket deals. All in all, we had a great visit, and am certainly considering going back next year. Perhaps for a full week, as four nights was just not enough!

We love this place! It is perfectly located just off the slopes right by the Sherwood lift at Alpine Meadows. Nothing quite compares to finishing your day skiing into the backyard, clicking out of your bindings, and heading straight for the hot tub! The rooms are beautifully decorated, and there's tons of sleeping space, equally divided over the 3 floors. The top floor great room have awesome views. This a great place for one large family, or several vacationing together. We're a big family, and it worked great for us. Can't say enough about this place. I highly recommend it!!!

Our family of twelve had a wonderful first time experience in Lake Tahoe and staying at their home. Everything was exactly as described and it was a beautiful home. There were so many extra things that made it such a special home along with lots of instructions on how to work appliances, lights etc. We were right along the bike path which was such a convenient location to bike to shops, restaurants. It was in a private and quiet location. The view from their home was breathtaking and we loved eating outside or just sitting out there and soaking in the view. We really got to experience the many moods of Lake Tahoe! Having never been to here before, we were so appreciative of the time taken by the owners to share anything and everything with us to help us get acquainted with Tahoe City. They had such great suggestions on restaurants, hiking trails, a bike store and on and on. Getting oriented to Tahoe ahead of time really made our stay so much more enjoyable. It is so nice to get to work with someone who truly loves the place to which you will be visiting. We will highly recommend their home to anyone we know who will be visiting Lake Tahoe. We were very sad to see our stay come to an end and really hope to make it back very soon ourselves.

Our group enjoyed a WONDERFUL and relaxing 4 day, 3 night stay at the beautiful Alpine Chalet in Lake Tahoe . We had four families in our party (8 adults, 6 children) with lots of room to spare! The house was in immaculate condition, very clean with a great layout exactly as described. The views were breathtaking and we thoroughly enjoyed the many amenities (hot tub, playroom, sauna, barbeque, fully stocked kitchen, and so much more...). The owners were very hospitable and it truly felt like a home away form home. We had everything we needed for a fun and relaxing stay. The only places we visited nearby Sunnyside resort, ice cream store, the river, and the large grocery store at the bottom of the hill. We preferred to stay and enjoy our time relaxing at the house :) We have already recommended this wonderful property to our friends and would definitely consider a return trip!

for sharing your beautiful house with my family. The house accommodated us perfect, and loved the views, deck and feeling so removed from everything. It was wonderful to wake up to the sounds and smells of the forest. We also really enjoyed the hiking at Alpine Meadows and how close we were to downtown Tahoe City. Plus...the restaurnant just down the street on the Lake was our daily lunch stop. We stayed at and around the house the whole time. It was nice not to feel we had to go anywhere. Thanks again. The Blazens.

About the owner: Need I say more? love skiing. A typical day in Zermatt, Switzerland.

Why the Owner Chose Tahoe City:
Lake Tahoe is unparallel to any other destination I've been to in the world. The skiing in the wintertime is suburb, the beaches at the Lake in the summertime is liked being in Hawaii. White sand and crystal blue water. The weather is perfect and concussive to doing anything you want outdoors, year-around..

The Unique Benefits at this House:
The location and privacy. Homeowners and their guests have access to a private parking lot right across the street from the Sherwood lift at Alpine Meadows. You can walk there from the house, or park there and hop on the lift! There is also a warming hut by the lift that serves BBQ, hot chocolate, beer, etc and lots of chairs. I like both seasons. The skiing speaks for itself, but in the summertime there are tons on trails to explore around the house. Page Meadows is a popular trail system located a block away. The house is just up from the Lake at Sunnyside Resort which has a great restaurant with huge deck on piers right on the lake. You can spend all day here watching the wooden boats come in for a beverage or dining. You can access the bike path here and ride to River Ranch which is a beautiful ride along the Truckee River. Once you get to River Ranch, you can enjoy another great deck for dining while watching the river rafters come in. Rafting is a fun thing to do also. Tahoe City has lots of restaurants and shops to enjoy. There is always something going on there to add to a weekend. Even though there are tons of things to visit in Lake Tahoe, I totally enjoyed just hanging out in the house and on the deck. You really feel away from it all, but are close to everything. Plus...the views from this house are incredible.
