6 rue Biscornet in the Bastille
Paris - If Le Marais is your destination, this is the perfect little 35m2 -one bedroom apartment in Le Bastille. It has a beautiful bathroom and modern U.S. applianced kitchen. Sleep comfortably in the queen size bed located in your own private Parisien bedroom. The large sofa bed in the living room is queen sized. The adress is 6 rue biscornet, 75012 Paris. With only a 3 minute walk to Subway station Bastille, all points of Paris are moments away.
If you have always been intrigued with the history of le Marais, this is the place for you. Located in downtown Paris, Le Marais was originally reclaimed to provide building space for the Right Bank. Nearby, the famous Place des Vosges was built by Henri IV at the beginning of the 17th century. The area is now the city's center of fashionable living. Architects and sculptors designed elegant mansions and hôtel particuliers with large courtyards and rear gardens during the 17th century. Now the Marais has been declared a historic neighborhood, and you can now find trendy boutiques, cafés, and museums in the district. The area's narrow streets, nevertheless, retain the stamp of a medieval village.
Centrally located you will easily find bakeries, restaurants, French patisseries, and supermarkets. You will enjoy the excellent area, Bastille Place and the Opéra (two minute walk), the famous 'Place des Vosges' (five to ten minute walk), as well as all restaurants and shops you will find in the Marais (ten minute walk).

We stayed at this property in Paris at the end of November 2012. Everything with the apartment was perfect, clean, organized with everything you need for a short stay in Paris. At the beginning I was worried because I wasn't getting replies to my emails from the owner... but then he replied and mentioned he was just busy. So if you don't get an answer immediately DO NOT WORRY, he will eventually reply to you, and when you meet him in person he is very nice and gentle. I kept Paul's details for future visits of myself and my friends/relatives.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

To summarize: Our experience staying at this apartment was outstanding in terms of location, comfort, spaciousness, and service. Details: When I looked at reviews, I was looking for feedback on location (both to Metro stations and how quiet it was), quality of apartment, and how the owner/manager was in terms of servicing any issues and general assistance. So these are the details I will provide. Location: This area is ideal. It's not in the middle of a really touristy, busy area, but more of a regular neighborhood (what we wanted). There's a market very nearby, the Seine and a canal, and a metro stations with 3 lines (a very good thing). There's an excellent restaurant almost literally downstairs. And there is fun shopping and other restaurants a few blocks away in the Marais, easily walkable - maybe 7 minutes away. Apartment quality: I haven't stayed in other Paris apartments, but many looked very small in terms of square footage. This apartment felt spacious for the 10 nights my mother and I were there. The separate bedroom is wonderful for the extended stay. I slept on the sofa bed which was completely comfortable-and I am sleep challenged. The kitchen was completely adequate and had a nice little table. And the bathroom looked much bigger than other apartment photos - the shower was not a tiny little insert, and you could easily have someone in the shower or dressing and someone in front of the mirror without feeling confined. The building and area were quiet, more quiet than I thought. There is some Saturday night noise outside, but I would expect that. It wasn't a problem for us. My mom, in her 60's with some knee issues, had no problems with the 2 flights of windy stairs. Owner: Paul-Regis is fabulous. He has a whole binder of information on the apartment, such as how the remote works for the TV, DVD player, and iPod dock (yes, and it's great!) as well as other pieces of info. He met us there (and was flexible, since our flight was 2 hours delayed) and helped us with our heavy luggage up the stairs. There was a technical issue at the apartment which was completely not his fault or due to any negligence, and he dealt with it more quickly that I think I would have in my own home. I was so impressed. This place surpassed my already high expectations. It was the trip of a lifetime!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We very much enjoyed our 10 day stay in this apartment! We would be happy to return on a future visit and will recommend this apartment to our friends. Paul-Régis was excellent to work with and helpful with information about the neighborhood and Paris. Things we liked about this apartment include: *Only 200 meters from the Bastille plaza and its metro station. *15 minute walk from Notre Dame and the center of the city. *The unit is on a side street off busy Rue de Lyon, so nights were quiet with undisrupted sleep. *The neighbors in the building were quiet, and we were there during Bastille Day holiday! *Air conditioning. *Clean and comfortable with everything in good working order. Things to Note (not issues for us, but may be for some travelers): *Living room and bedroom has wicker mat flooring, you may want to wear socks or slippers. *Unit is two floors above street level with no lift. *Laundry washer/dryer is great, but small capacity compared to American standards. Things nearby that we would recommend include: *Carrefour grocery on Rue de Lyon *Artisan Patisserie near Rue de Lyon *Promanade Plantee walking path *Bastille plaza area with restaurants and cafes *Bofinger restaurant *Mona Lisa pizza takeout *walks along Canal St. Martin Thank you again, Paul-Régis, for a wonderful place to stay on our holiday!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway.

First the communication with the owner was excellent and all very straightforward. Not one issue in the entire transaction..A flawless transaction....Second, the price was excellent. Third, the location was really fantastic. It was close to everything. The street was interesting and no security issues. Building was quiet....Bathroom new and very well set up...Full library of guide books. Flat screen TV and DVD and CD. Washer/Dryer. Well equiped kitchen. Everything worked. Air conditioner too...The apartment was clean. Bastille Metro 3 minute walk and station on 1 Line with 8 Line link to OPERA and Roissy Bus to CDG as well..We consider this to have been an excellent choice but in fairness we have nothing to compare it to except hotel rooms over the last 15 years. The only reason that we would not give the accomodations an Excellent was that the bed needs a new mattress. Other than that we felt that the owner had provided a very well provisoned and thoughtfully equipped basic apartment in which to enjoy the city. We stayed 9 nights and fully enjoyed the experience. If we could give it a VERY GOOD rating we would have chosen that, as it was definitely better than GOOD. We would stay there again in a heartbeat, and probably will. .. We recommend this apartment....Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers.

The apartment was exactly as described, very comfortable and inviting. The owner's mom greeted us and made us feel quite at home. The local bakeries and mini-markets were wonderful; the large Sunday and Thursday farmer's market Marche de la Bastille (recommended by Rick Steves) is close by. (Also recommended by Rick Steves and close by--the Promenande Plantee Park.) We are two 55+ ladies traveling together. We really appreciated having two separate rooms (bedroom and living room), separate closets, and a bath tub. We also felt very secure with the heavy duty lock on the door. One slight problem -- two flights of stairs up to the apartment! There was a mini heat wave when we were there and the air conditioner was a blessing. I would definitely stay there again!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a wonderful stay. The apartment was just as described. It is very centrally located - a big plus. It is 5-10 minutes from the subway and a major train station. We also easily walked to Notre Dame Cathedral! Paul-Regis gave us a warm welcome and was available and very helpful during our stay. We highly recommend this lovely little apartment. In fact here is the ultimate compliment.... We will be returning to Paris very soon and we know exactly where we are going to stay!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Hello Ed, Thank you for your comments, i will be happy to welcome you again ! I just found new restaurants adress, good and not too expensive for your next trip.. ;-)

Where can I start? This is the best choice we have made when we decided to go to Paris for the first time. Paul-Regis is an excellent host. Everything was exactly how he described it. He is very gracious and he waited for us even though we arrived late. He had Champagne and Croissants ready for us. He is very available in case you need anything or have any questions. The apartment was close to everything. Paul has the directions there for the supermarket and by the way they are opening a carrefour ( a reasonably priced big supermarket) is opening around the corner (One minute from the apartment). It didn't open when we were there but I am sure I will go back and enjoy it. Staying at this apartment is an absolute must when I go back to Paris. Gare de Lyon is 10 minutes walk from the apartment. We took our Metro from there and the train too. I will highly recommend this apartment: Great, peaceful, and has everything you need and the host is amazing. Have a wonderful trip.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.
