This private, cozy cottage is nestled on a 19 acre compound in the East Animas Valley (East Animas Road, County Road 250 )just a couple of miles north of the Durango city limits (towards the ski area). You will enter the property through an electronic gated entry and continue on a 500 foot private road toward the Red Hermosa Cliffs. Beyond the cliffs is nothing but forest service land for hundreds of miles. On the property there is a covered private tennis court for your personal use!
This property, even though it is only 2 miles from Durango, is in a beautiful river valley and is filled with tall Ponderosa Pines, enormous oaks and lots of seclusion. Great views of the La Plata Mountains from this property. At 6500 feet in elevation you have the perfect combination of warm winter days and cool summer nights for your vacation in Durango. You are only a 25 minute drive to the Durango Mountain Ski Resort.
The home is beautifully furnished with antiques and art. The main floor has vaulted ceilings and large windows to show mother nature's beauty. The living room also contains a comfortable queen size sofa sleeper. The master bedroom and bath are on the first floor and a second bedroom with private bath is on the second floor. The kitchen is fully equiped for your cooking pleasure or barbeque on the west porch with the gas grill.
There is a large south deck with table and chairs for your relaxation. After a day exploring this wonderful area enjoy the luxurious Caldera Kauai hot tub with lots of comfort and massage which is located under the covered wt porch. Only 30 minutes away, enjoy Mesa Verde.
Talk about the perfect location! Your backyard is the acclaimed Red Hermosa Cliffs where numerous Red Tail Hawk nests abound with National Forest beyond that. Your front yard is pasture land overlooking the Animas River where herds of elk can be seen on numerous days. Enjoy the covered private tennis court in the pasture or go for a walk or run on the country road.
A few steps from your front door a large water canal meanders through this heavily wooded property. On the quiet county road in the distance, you will see many bicycle riders, runners, and walkers. This is one of the best places to go for a long run, walk or a bike ride in Durango. Don't forget to visit the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad.
The perfect location in Durango! The bakery is three minutes away; great restaurants within 5 minutes; the supermarket is six minutes away; the narrow gauge train station is ten minutes away; and the Durango Mountain Ski Resort is 25 minutes away.
