A beautiful, tastefully renovated 1950's ranch house with with views of our landscaped yard, adjacent Live Oak forests and the Loma Alta, from every room. This is a true indoor-outdoor living home with walls of glass to let the outside beauty in, as well as outdoor dining and living areas for our languid warm months. We are located in the area of Marin that is not enshrouded by San Francisco's infamous summer fog. By 9am our skies are blue and you are guaranteed 80-90 degree days to spend lounging by our pool. Our property sits on a half acre, with a vegetable garden and fruit trees to help yourself from, depending on the seasons. The house has 3 bedrooms: the master has a king bed and bathroom adjacent to it. The other 2 bedrooms were extensively renovated in 2011. They share a bathroom and each bedroom has a twin bed, with trundle beneath it. The house comes with the option of renting our Casita, a separate unit with queen bed and its own bathroom. Our kitchen is a cooks delight with marble countertops and high end appliances. The kitchen has an eating nook and reclaimed teak dining table. We have a family room with TV and piano and also a living room with a wood burning fireplace. Our outdoor dining area features a generous teak dining table. We have both gas and wood burning BBQ facilities.

This spacious and beautifully kept family home provides the ideal base for mountain-biking adventures, moonlit hikes, gentle strolls around dreamy lakes or just a whole lot of relaxing. When we managed to get our 6- and 8-year-old daughters out of the huge, sparkly pool and the hot tub, they kept themselves busy for hours in the magical garden - on the trampoline, picking plums and apples, watching the humming birds and catching butterflies and assorted tiny creatures. The local towns are just a short drive away and are full of character, with interesting restaurants and fascinating little shops to explore. Karen and James were extremely helpful as we planned our visit, providing information about the nearby winelands and surf spots too. Wish we were going back tomorrow - and they certainly won't be able to keep us away for long!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Kids playing happily in the pool. Parents chilling out in the hot-tub. Fresh, local meat on the BBQ. A gentle breeze teasing the eucalyptus trees all around. Nightly sightings of owls in the trees, and deers roaming the local lanes. What's not to love! If you do manage to escape the laid-back pleasures of this house, there is a lovely local town with not an international chain-store in sight (try the ice-cream shop!!), and if you love mountain biking, or hill walking you have the added bonus of awesome trails all around.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Glad you had a great time!

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2009
About the owner: We are South Africans who moved to Marin in 2008, after 16 years spent working very hard in New York City. We still work hard but play hard too and love our down time, now that we live under Californian skies. We have 2 young boys.
Why the Owner Chose San Anselmo:
We moved to San Anselmo in search of all the things we love about life here - fresh air, endless possibilities for outdoor pursuits, warm summers without humidity and milder winters. We feel like we are on vacation in our own home and love sitting in the hot tub under starry skies, swimming in our pool on hot days and tending our garden which produces a bounty of fresh fruit and vegetables. We chose our property for it's all day sunshine in the summer months and the sunbeams that stream in our windows during the winter months.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Our property is ideally situated for exploring the beaches, farmlands and food of West Marin while still being close to San Francisco and also within reach of Napa and Sonoma. We are located in a part of San Anselmo that was developed later than most and therefore is characterized by larger properties and a feeling of being in the country, even though we are close to shops, banks and restaurants. Our house is situated on the floor of a small valley and we have tons of sun and are surrounded by open space. One can walk/ bike from the front door and be on a trail within minutes. Without too much effort one can feel a million miles from a city, but from the right hill top you can spot the San Francisco skyline - always a treat!
