North Captiva Island house description

'Sea Bean' is the perfect retreat for your coastal adventures or for your relaxing beach vacation. This family vacation home is located on the barrier island of North Captiva. Just north of Sanibel and Captiva, and to the south of Cayo Costa, North Captiva is a bridgeless island accessed primarily by boat. It is a car-free, island with a relaxed pace. Sandy trails wind throughout the island and electric golf carts, bicycles and foot power are the standard means of transportation...shoes are optional! Over 4 miles of pristine white sand beaches wrap around the island's west and northern shores and lush mangrove forests fringe the east and southern coastlines. The Gulf of Mexico, Pine Island Sound, and Captiva Pass offer world-class fishing and nearby islands offer beach-lovers and boaters unforgettable adventures.

'Sea Bean' is located less than 100 yards from the beach...it is nestled among native palms along the edge of a small fresh water lake. Beautiful wading birds, song birds, ospreys and bald eagles are frequent lake visitors. With the house windows open, guests can enjoy the peaceful sound of the Gulf surf and the gentle rustle of palm fronds. Surrounded by vegetation, the house is wrapped by porches and decks on three sides. It offers seclusion and privacy while still being conveniently located for all island activities.

Completed in 2009, 'Sea Bean' is like-new and is fully provisioned for convenience, pleasure and comfort. On the main level, there are two master bedrooms with queen size beds and master baths. Both have French doors that open to the back porch overlooking the lake. A third bedroom has a full size bed and a half bath. A reading alcove has a queen size mattress that can sleep extra guests. The kitchen table seats eight and the island bar seats an extra four. The living room has a fireplace and 42' television with DirecTV. On the second level, a large loft has four twin beds, a double bed, and a secret 'Octopus Den' playroom for kids. A second level deck overlooks the lake and is a perfect place for quiet reading, sunbathing or stargazing. Wireless Internet connection is available throughout the house.

'Sea Bean' is located in Safety Harbor Club and its guests are entitled to the use of the Club's amenities including a large swimming pool, tennis courts, private beach access, docks and fishing pier, private waterfront restaurant, and an ice machine. Two golf carts, bicycles, and three sea kayaks are also included in the house rental.

There are several beaches to explore on the island and excellent shelling and fishing. Snook, Redfish, Snapper, and Spotted Sea Trout will usually bite a hook from the shore or a dock. Charter boats can be hired to take you out on a world-class Tarpon fishing or backwater fishing expedition. The island and its waters teem with unique, beautiful, interesting and rare wildlife...each day brings new discoveries and wonders.

                          About the owner: 'Sea Bean' is owed by the Lord family (Randy, Stephanie and Piper) Randy is newly retired from a telecommunication company. He is currently working to build an organic farm in East Tennessee. Stephanie continues to run the previous said telecommunication company.

                          Why the Owner Chose North Captiva Island:
                          The Lords: 'We vacationed with a very large family group to North Captiva for Thanksgiving in 2012. It was the perfect family fun place to relax and enjoy family. We loved that the only access was by boat or private plane and that there were no cars on the island. The beaches are never crowded and it is not uncommon to have the beach all to ourselves. We loved the island so much we looked for a house that same week. Although many of the homes were beautiful, this home felt as though it was built just for us. This truly is a 'dream' house for us. We are offering this 'dream'' house for renting, to help cover the costs of the home and it makes us happy that our renters get as much enjoyment from 'Sea Bean' as we do.'
