Riverbend Retreat is a cozy log cabin located in the mountains of North Carolina. Enjoy the porch swing and savor the mountain views. Rock in the log chairs and listen to the birds sing or just listen to the quiet. Watch for deer, rabbits, fox and other wildlife, and at night sit on the deck and count the fireflies.
Although the cabin is not right on the river, you can walk to the north fork of the New River. Take a fishing pole, you might catch some small mouth bass or trout if your lucky.Return to the cabin and cook your catch on the gas grill. The large picnic table will accommodate everyone in your party. The full kitchen will take care of your big meal needs as well. After your meal enjoy an after dinner beverage while sitting in the hot tub and watch the always stunning sunset.
Go about 5 miles down the road to our Canoe Rental and have a great day on the river. A free canoe, kayak or tube rental is included for weekly rentals, and a 10% discount for any time under a week. West Jefferson is just 15 minutes away if you wish to eat out, go to the movies, shop or take advantage of the many great art galleries. Boone is an hour away for more shopping and fun events. In the winter you can ski at Sugar Mountain, only an hour and a half drive from the cabin.
There are so many activities in the area if you want an active vacation. But if de-stressing is your intention, then stay right there on your private mountain and just enjoy the solitude and nature. There are not other cabins on either side of, in front or back of the cabin, so you've got lots of privacy. At days end, open the windows and let the fresh mountain air lull you to sleep in the cozy queen beds.
The cabin is good for a romantic weekend get away, or bring the kids for a great family vacation.
