It was love at first sight! We were tired of the 'plastic' condo vacations and were looking for something cozy and comfortable. Lynn and David has provided such a wonderfully relaxing cottage and gave it a bit of a playful atmosphere of peach colored siding, butterfly bushes, pool (woot!), and even a whimsical beach hat collection. Our grandson loved being able to bring the dog along and still talks about our time there, that's priceless. Shortly after we returned home we booked it for the next years trip. This is one of those special places you make memories of with your family and fill up the scrapbook with the pictures, year after year.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

What a gem! We truly enjoyed our stay at Sandpiper Cottage. The location is perfect, the yard is beautiful and the cottage is very comfortable. We also enjoyed bringing our dog, she had so much fun. Our two young daughters spent a lot of time in the pool and the enclosed deck and sunroom are a plus. I enjoyed coffee each morning on the sun porch. We would highly recommend it and plan to return as soon as possible. The kitchen is also well equipped for those that love to cook.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, girls getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We loved the location and the cottage. We have vacationed many times on SGI and stayed in a wide variety of places. This was one of the very best. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate for us, but we still enjoyed the cozy cottage.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, girls getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, people with disabilities.

This was our first visit to St George's Island.....the Sandpiper Cottage had absolutely everything we needed for our vacation with our golden retrievers. Although the furniture was somewhat worn, it was comfortable and clean. The enclosed deck was great for letting the dogs out while we were on the deck, the pool was great (nice and clean) and the kitchen was very well stocked. The location was great...right across the road from the boardwalk to the beach. The bathrooms had everything you needed but were very small. It was very nice to have everything on one level. Great times at Sandpiper Cottage! It worked out great to have our now - mobile one-year-old with s, and feeling safe with him here on one level. Weather was great for January-60s and 70s everyday. Make sure to check out Wakulla Springs State Park-awesome boat ride(we did it twice!) to see lots of birds, manatees, & alligators. Great time. Our second time staying on SGI but 1st time staying at Sandpiper Cottage. We really like it here. Having our own pool was a 1st for us. Loved the deck and gates for our dogs to be able to be outside. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back, we especially enjoyed not having a huge home in front or on either side of us. We loved the town(Apachicola) being so close. Tamara's Cafe, The Seafood Grill, The Owl Cafe are the best restaurants. As this is our 8th trip to SGI, again, Sandpiper does not disappoint. Always welciming us to our beach home, everything about this place brings us back. Weather was great for 7 days, with one bad morning of rain...allowing us to find other things to do. This was our first trip to Sandpiper Cottage and we will definitely be back! We love the cottage, it is perfect. The furnishings, landscaping and the pool-all awesome. This is definitely the place to come for R & R. the weather was perfect and the beaches uncrowded. We brought our two small dogs, Becks and Molly. Thank you for allowing dogs. It is difficult to find a nice place that has everything like Sandpiper Cottage, that is likewise, dog friendly. I also enjoyed the well stocked kitchen. No complaints from us! wow. what a great trip. my husband and myself agreed it was the best vacation ever. we didn't want to leave.sandpiper cottage was perfect in every way.we'll definetly be back! the cottage,the pool(landscaping was beautiful)....everything was just right.Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway, age 55+.

Another wonderful 3 weeks in Sandpiper Cottage at SGI! The weather cooperated great, it was hot and sunny. We had a different group each week. First our son and his family were here. The grandkids loved it. Then my niece and her friend came second. Finally a couple from back home made their 1st trip here. They'll be back. Jelly fish were a little bit of a problem some days, but we were careful. As always, it's so hard to leave, even the dogs are sad! But we'll be back again. Thanks for sharing this great house. Year Purchased: 2001
About: Sandpiper Cottage was built in the early 1970s by 2 brothers to share with their growing families. The door frame to the laundry room has the names, dates, and heights of all of their children. When we purchased Sandpiper our children's info was also added, along with a few of our 4-legged family members. Their family continues to travel to St. George Island and we are honored that they still stay in Sandpiper when they visit. Our family purchased Sandpiper Cottage in 2001, we have had fun making Sandpiper Cottage our own. The pool and landscape was the first large project we tackled. When we purchased the cottage, I could not wait for the day I could change the outside color from that 'crazy pink' to a more subdued color. However, that day came in 2008 and we just could not make ourselves change the color, in fact, we chose a color called Caribbean Coral-we always tell folks to look for the pink house with a green roof on East 5th! We consider Sandpiper Cottage a true Florida cottage, and unfortunately there are few of these homes left. But don't let the age fool you, all of the systems have been replaced, along with new ductwork, flooring, furniture(inside & out), and of course paint.
Why Gulf Beaches:
Growing up on the Georgia coast a beach town was not a place with resorts and high rise condos. It was a place where you could hop on your bike and not worry about being mowed over by traffic. We spent many years exploring coastal towns from Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and even California. Our current home is in the Metro Atlanta area, we were looking for a quiet place to get away. The late Celestine Sibley, a long time writer for the Atlanta Journal Constitution, on occasion would write of her travels to her 2nd home on Dog Island Florida in the Gulf of Mexico. Her writings intrigued us and that is how we found The Forgotten Coast. Finally a place to getaway, to leave your worries behind, and at one time, a place where our cell phones could not get a signal.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Sandpiper Cottage is on a corner lot, it is positioned across from a beach right of way that cannot be built upon.
You walk out the door, down the walkway, cross the street and you are on the dune walkover. There is not a home to our right, left, or behind Sandpiper. The island bike path conveniently crosses the rear of our property-it is great for walking pets, early morning runs, and of course sight seeing on your bike. If you don't bring your bike, you can always rent one while on the island.
If you get a chance, during your visit, check out the sunsets on the west end of the island, on the bay side.
