This house is a gem!! Beautiful house and grounds. Walking distance from two of the area’s best attractions: the chateau Les Baux and the Carrières de Lumières. Breathtaking views from the garden and pool. Lovely owner and caretaker. Had a wonderful 2-week stay here with my family.

Beautiful Historic House in Les Baux
We loved our stay in this historic stone house. It was perfection! This home is truly lovely both inside and out with careful attention paid by the owners to every detail. In addition to the thoughtfully designed interiors and authentic architecture, we appreciated the beauty of the landscaped yard. The owners are absolutely wonderful hosts! We will be returning for a repeat stay!

Wonderful family home in Les Baux!
We rented this lovely home for two weeks for a holiday from Los Angeles. It was beautifully decorated and just perfect for us and our toddler. The pool and outdoor dining area is wonderful and it has a BBQ, which we used every day. The owners also use the house themselves, which we have found makes a big difference in that all of the linens, kitchen equipment, etc. were very nice. We also could not have been happier with the location, which was quiet and private and just a short drive away from several towns. We have already recommended it to friends going to Provence next year. The set-up is probably best for two couples with or without children or a large family.

Perfect choice for exploring Provence
My husband and I stayed at this lovely home for a week in June. The house is extremely comfortable and elegant, with anything you might need on hand - kitchen supplies should you want to cook, extra towels, plenty of good books to read. While there, we spent most of our time under the pergola enjoying the pool and the beautiful landscaping. We found it to be an extremely relaxing place and looked forward to coming back after a day of exploring Provence. The location is great - allowing you to get to many towns and sights in less than an hour in most cases. Nearby Maussane was very convenient for food shopping and good restaurants. We did walk up the path to Les Baux and also enjoyed hiking right from the house. The views are spectacular. We ate lunch twice at Bistro du Paradou, probably the best meals we had on our trip - highly recommended. Both the owners and our local contacts were extremely helpful and responsive. One of our requirements when renting is that the house is private and quiet (as much as possible being close to town). I will point out that the front of the house faces a shared courtyard - so you will see some neighbors, not an issue since we spent our time in the back yard with the pool and we rarely heard anybody. Also note that the house is connected to the neighbor's - there is a thick hedge separating the two back yards. There was nobody staying at the house next door while we were there so it was not a problem for us, however if there had been we would have definitely been aware of them since they have a pool in back as well. I would highly recommend staying here - I think it would also be a perfect choice for two couples and/or families with children as there is plenty of space and amenities.

About the host
Hosted by Owner/Property Manager
Karin and Mathieu have been living in London for 7 years with two young children. They have lived in several large cities in Europe but they feel at home in Provence, where they spend 2 months every year.
Why they chose this property
After vacationing several years in hotels in the area, we fell in love with this corner of France which combines unspoilt nature, beautiful old buildings and a special 'art de vivre'. So when we were offered to buy this 1750 typical Provence Mas with its thick walls and a lovely garden offering breathtaking views onto the old perched village of Les Baux, it did not take us long to reach a decision. We have had fantastic moments in this house every year since
What makes this property unique
The village of Les Baux sits in the Parc Naturel des Alpilles, a small mountain chain who offers unique landscapes, with the minerals of the limestone mixing with the soft green of the olive trees. The house has kept many original features and we like the fact that it has a long history as a peasant Mas in the 1800's and 1900's. It has also been entirely redecorated in 2010 by a renowned interior designer and featured in several magazines and websites (see links). The combination of antique furniture and paintings with contemporary design creates a very cozy interior. From the garden and the pool, you will enjoy views of the well known village of Les Baux, labeled 'one of the most beautiful village in France'. This exceptional view is enjoyed by only a few houses in the area.
