Accommodations: House, 4 Bedrooms + Loft + Den, 3.25 Baths (Sleeps 10-16)
Keywords: Lakefront Home
Look no further! This newer, four bedroom home on 5 acres is one of the most private vacation homes you will ever find. It is situated on a dead-end road, far off the beaten path, seven miles west of Minong, WI and 25 miles west of Hayward, WI. The colors in the fall are exquisite as the home/lake are surrounded by oak, maple and towering pine trees. The home is fully furnished, similar to my other vrbo listing #16998. You can learn more about both listings by going online to haywardvacationrentals(dot com). It is an excellent getaway for winter, spring, summer and fall retreats.
NOW INCLUDES A NEW KOHLER 2-PERSON BUBBLEJET 'CORNER' TUB (WITH HEATER) IN MASTER BEDROOM OVERLOOKING THE DECK/LAKE. New landscaping including a cement walkway to the lake, firepit and a new, 8 foot x 8 foot sandbox for the kids. If you're a deer hunter, there's a ladder stand right on site, 100 yards from the house (deer are always around).
The real, split stone fireplace is the centerpiece of the great room which has cathedral ceilings into the upstairs loft. It has almost 300 feet of level, sandy lake shore and is located on a private, dead-end road. A new golf course (Black Bear Golf & Tennis) and some of the best, leisurely canoeing in Wisconsin are only minutes away (on the Namekagon River which is part of the pristine, completely undeveloped St. Croix National Scenic Riverway). The Totogatic cross-country ski trail is nearby as well.
The house sits at the bottom of a hill on almost five acres of land and faces the east for beautiful sunrises every morning. It is located on the 271 acre Kimball Lake Chain which is recognized as one of the cleanest and quietest chain of lakes in northwestern Wisconsin. It is also an excellent fishing lake known for crappie, panfish, bass, northern pike and walleye. Eagles, turkeys, loons, deer, fox and many other critters abound.
The entire first level consists of slate floors (which stay very cool) and many shade trees surround the house. The house has both forced air heat and central air. There is a two car, heated/air conditioned, attached garage that has been turned into a game room which contains an electronic dartboard, pool table, foosball and ping pong table. New lawn furniture and a gas grill are provided as well. A canoe, horseshoe pits, paddleboat and oversized swim raft are included. The on-site pontoon and fishing boat/motor are available as well.
Up the spiral staircase, the master bedroom has a new 17" LCD TV over the Kohler whirlpool tub and three large windows facing the lake. And both the master bedroom and kitchen have built-in custom butternut cabinets. Facing the lake is an expansive, wrap-around cement patio, as well as, another deck on the second level which overlooks the lake from the loft/master bedroom area. Other amenities: Jenn-Air range, real granite countertops, Kohler faucets/toilets, TVs/VCRs/DVDs in all 4 bedrooms as well as the great room and in the garage/game room area.
As for the lakes Lower Kimball Lake is 129 acres, it has a public boat launch site and is eight feet deep. Middle Kimball Lake is 98 acres, has its own island, is 77 feet deep and is great for water-skiing/jet skis. Upper Kimball Lake (where this home is situated) is 47 acres and ten feet deep. There are less than 20 cabins/homes on the entire lake which has almost a mile and a half of lakeshore (so the lake lots average over 300 feet of very private lakeshore).
All three lakes have crystal-clear water, great fishing and are navigable by the on-site fishing boat and pontoon. Swimming is excellent right from the dock (very sandy, gradual depth).
The 'Minong Flowage' is about a mile away as are over a dozen other clear-water lakes within 15 minutes. A hardware store/gas station (w/movie rentals) is only 2 miles away as well. Hayward, WI is about 25 minutes to the east (3rd fastest growing vacation destination in the country with many shops, restaurants and summer events) and Duluth, MN is about 45 minutes north (great shopping, boating/fishing on Lake Superior). Hope to see you soon!
Bedroom/bathroom layout: One 1/4 bathroom on the main level. Four bedrooms and 3 bathrooms (1/4, 3/4, and full) on the upper level, as well as two loft areas, for sleeping. In the 4 bedrroms there are 1 king, 2 queens, and 1 full bed - respectively. There is a king bed in a kids loft area, and two full size futons which overlook the great room/fireplace, in addition to the 'L-Shaped' couch that sleeps 2-3 people).

A wonderful time was had by all – big and small! We were so pleased the owners had thought of every little thing for everyone - 2 legged & 4 legged. The sandbox, paddleboat, lake and large yard were well used on the sunny days. And it was even nice to have a rainy day to enjoy a cozy fire in the fireplace and a ping pong tournament. We brought some lunch to the island in the lake and explored with the kids and dogs. All week we fed the fish but on the last day we caught some! It was so nice to have a place to vacation that welcomed the furry members of our family. We respected the boundaries set by the owners and hope all future guests do the same so we can all come back together again!

Gorgeous, clear lakes. Being able to see the fish makes it super exciting for young children! (And fish are easy to catch – at least the small ones.) The lot and lake access are very child-friendly. Extremely quiet and private. We had a wonderful time at the Kimball Lake home.

Such a time! All went well! No snags, except PaPa’s lure in the shore tree!! Good meal of fish & way too much food! Weather perfect – not too hot days, cool nights, no rain. Thanks for the fun toys – boat, canoe, pontoon, paddle boat, hammock, etc. Neat fireplace! 10 adults, 3 grandkids & a tiny dog –type animal! Sooo much fun! Thanks!

We had a great week – all 13 of us! The heat (4 - 95 degree days) kept us in the water a lot. We caught a lot of fish. The power went out during a thunderstorm for a couple of hours, but just before dark it came back and we had air conditional for sleeping. We went to Hayward for lunch and shopping on Friday. It was another great family vacation! We loved the house, the lake and the pontoon!

We spent a week in this beautiful home during August. Beautiful weather! My husband was in heaven catching gigantic bluegill, which we made a meal out of. We took advantage of some surrounding area activities. We took a harbor tour up in Duluth. Well worth the drive. It was very informative. Within walking distance from the tour is a restaurant called "Grandmas"! We all loved the food and atmosphere. Don't let the name fool you, it's huge and sounds like it could be lots of fun at night. We also took the Spooner train brunch ride, and the family favorite, Lumberjack Show in Hayward. This home is beautiful and roomy. The patio and yard have great views of the lake. The master bedroom and bath were spectacular. The lake was very quiet and peaceful. We had our own boat, and boated to the adjoining lake for some tubing! A fantastic time was had by all. The owners are super easy to work with. I even had to contact Jason after he had sent me my deposit back, due to the fact that I lost it. He contacted me the same day, with a good sense of humor!

This property was everything promised and more. Our group of 7 adults and 8 kids loved all the amenities, including the canoe, paddleboat and pontoon. These amenities paled in comparison to the beautiful setting and lake where the home is located. 8 kids, ages 9 to 14 never turned the TV on once over the course of our 1week stay. The day before we arrived a major storm moved through the area, leaving thousands without power. Before we arrived the owner had secured and installed a generator so we would have power. He also refunded 1 day of our rental fee. He went above and beyond to make our vacation perfect. Great views, swimming, fishing and a beautiful house . . . We will be back!!!

This week was a blast. The kids loved the lake, swimming, fishing was so fun. The house was perfect . We came in a little later in the year than planned, but everything was great. Visited Hayward many times and made great memories here. The weather was perfect everyday. We hope everyone else that stays after us enjoys it as much as we did. Happy vacationing to you all!

We arrived in the dark of night, under a blanket of stars shining bright. A house of 13, no beds to spare...a meal with leftovers was certainly rare! We went pinecone exploring, a little "water-pong" is never boring. There was Hayward shopping and upstairs plopping. Playing Nerf gun wars and making lots of s'mores. Oscar the grouch vs. pontoon man, passing cards between our toes just because we can! The crystal clear water with slime balls of green... Sheldon the snapping turtle wasn't even mean. There was paddle boating and attempts at fishing, the fish got lucky - they must have been wishing. Beware of the bear emerging from the woods, they walk on two legs and wear sweatshirts with hoods!! It was an awesome weekend with family and new friends, we leave this cabin knowing that the good times never end.

We had a great time this week in Minong! We were blessed with mostly great weather days so we spent most of our time boating, fishing, and swimming from the pier. We even caught a northern off the dock! Definitely check out Grandma Links for some great hot sandwiches! In the words of 4 year old Evan, his favorite part was, "tubing and boating...oh and fishing!" Middle lake is great for skiing and riding, Upper lake is great for loon spotting. We had a great time and make sure you have a fire before dusk! Sunsets are awesome here! Have fun and enjoy- we did!
