Owner info
Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: My husband grew up in Juneau, and I spent five summers in Alaska working at a fish cannery, which is where I met my husband many, many years ago back in 1990; so, when our family moved to Juneau, Alaska in 2010, it was like moving back home for us! Our four children loved this place instantly, and the transition for them was almost seamless and non-existent due to the wondrous beauty and endless activity all around! We have the honor of offering you our lovely home as a vacation rental during the summer months because my husband’s work takes us away to help his dad operate an amazing fishing lodge called Doc Warner’s Alaska Adventures!
Why the Owner Chose Juneau:
Just like the birds fly south every winter, once a person visits Alaska, something instinctively inside them makes them want to come back to Alaska every year from that point forward, which is exactly what happened to us! The pristine, natural beauty, the pure air, the slowed down pace, the abundant wild life, the freedom to choose from a large variety of outdoor activities that are within minutes of our front door are all reasons why we enjoy living in Juneau. My husband let go of Corporate America to help his dad and to raise our children in a safe, wholesome environment that supports close family units. He remembers living here in Juneau as a child always running through the forest and riding his bike everywhere with his friends without a worry or care in the world, and he wanted that same wholesome upbringing for our family.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
When we first drove up to the house, it looked like something out of a catalog. Everything from the beautifully landscaped yard; the open covered porches; the amenities; and the light and airiness look and feel on the inside; and the incredible dining area made us feel like this would be a place that a family could spend the long, dark, and cold winters in and be comfortable, yet thrive and be in heaven during the summers. More importantly though, this house fit our family beautifully, meaning it accommodated all of our children’s musical instruments (a grand piano, an upright piano, an organ, a viola, a violin, and a cello!), the number of people in our family, and our interests/hobbies. We greatly appreciated the professional, high quality construction of this home, too! We are super close to everything, and have the best of both worlds in that we get to be “in the city yet definitely in the country” in one of the most desirable locations in Juneau. We also get to see the breathtaking ocean and Mendenhall Glacier every single day on the drive to and from our home!
