South San Francisco apartment description
Our home is Victorian and was built in 1906 right after the earthquake. We’ve done extensive work on the home and land. It is a double sized lot so half of the land is landscaped with waterfall and pond with fish, over 15 varieties of Hawaiian and Polynesian plants and an expansive lawn. It is a 2 unit home, we live above and Halekipa (guest home) is on the first level. Our 1 bedroom unit features Bamboo wood floors, carpet in the bedroom, washer and dryer in unit, updated appliances, full size bed and pull out couch in living. It can comfortably fit 4. There are extra pillows, blankets, sheets and towels for you also. We also have a few things for children (boys and girls sleeping bags and a few games…still adding on to this. The home is equipped with WIFI and Cable T.V. as well. This property also dubs as the Kaululehua Hawaiian Cultural Center. You’ll notice a dance studio and library on the land as well. Once a week there are classes (dance) and once a month classes on cultural arts/crafts (weaving and lei making). Our home was awarded the Beautification award for South San Francisco in 2011!
We are located in downtown South San Francisco (SSF) all restaurants are walking distance (Starbucks, Pete’s, Subway, multiple Chinese and Mexican, Thai, Vietnamese , Korean, Italian, Argentinian, American, Japanese and more). There are a few grocery, liquor and drug stores within a block. Some of our favorite restaurants: For Breakfast – Cable Car Café (nothing fancy, just quick good ole fashioned breakfast), For Lunch - La Morena (best al pastor nachos and tacos), For Dinner - Izanami (great specials, brand new and nice atmosphere). If you’ve never had See’s candy, the factory is down the street you might want to go in for samples.
Everything you could possibly need is within 1 mile (drug stores, department stores, chain restaurants etc..) Most people stay at our place for site seeing. There is a 1 car port designated for our guest but if you don’t drive bus is within 1 block, Train (Cal. Train) is 4 blocks, Bart is 10 blocks away. All of these can take you somewhere interesting. Downtown San Francisco is about 10 minutes by car. Besides San Francisco you should make time to explore our coast especially downtown Pacifica and cruise along highway 1 to visit downtown Half Moon Bay!

A charming little getaway for 1 to 4 people. Well thought out layout with all the comforts of home. The property was exactly as described, so no hidden surprises. Very clean! would be nice to have a dishwasher, but Im just spoiled :) Youll end up eating out most of the time, so really not many dishes were used. Would def stay here again!!

Kawaki and Kai'i's lovely apartment provided my father the perfect place to rest while going through radiation treatments at UCSF. The surroundings are lovely with the lush garden and calming water fall into the pond right outside our door. We felt like we were in a tropical get away, complete with wildlife sightings if you were up early in the morning to see the racoon taking a dip in the pond! The apartment is quaint and comfortable and we took full advantage of the kitchen and laundry facilities. There are numerous dining options within walking distance, and I enjoyed getting a workout in at the local Bally's Fitness Center located within a mile of the apartment. Everything we needed was conveniently located within a short walk or drive away and the off-street parking was a bonus. I am so glad to have found this wonderful apartment and we will definitely be back for future visits!

I was visiting from NYC and stayed here for the New Years Eve 2013. It was awesome the bedroom has sliding shoji screens for privacy. The kitchen, private bathroom, and washer dryer makes for everything to make your trip pleasant, efficient, and worry-free. The owners are incredibly kind and wonderful worldly people. Looking forward to staying here again!!!

We recently stayed at this gorgeous vacation rental in South San Francisco. It was breath taking from the pathway to the door. The pathway way was filled with lush green plants. Then upon entering the rental, from the guest area to the kitchen and to the bedroom, it felt very warmth and cozy. This place can be called a second home with amenities. This location was perfect. Close to the airport. Plus it was short drive to Golden Gate Bridge, Exploratorium, Fisherman's Wharf , Market Square and Ocean Beach. During our stay, we noticed that Half Moon Bay and Sausalito were near to San Francisco. We really enjoyed our stay in South San Francisco. The owners are very friendly and very helpful. We would return to this location on our next vacation. We will call this place our second home.

I was attending a NYE event in South San Francisco and was referred by a friend to this lovely vacation rental tucked away in charming downtown SSF. When I walked in I was surrounded by beautiful lush plants, palm trees, and a pond with a small running waterfall! I felt like I was transported from SSF to a place in the tropics. The unit itself is warm and cozy and decorated like a home and not a vacation/hotel room. The owners are warm and friendly and they allow pets (BONUS!) Parking is available and there are several great restaurants within walking distance. I highly recommend this charming place! Oh, and it's also conveniently located near SFO.

Why the Owner Chose South San Francisco:
We fell in love with this property when we first saw it. Because it is located on a double wide lot, we were amazed with the space and all the potential it offered. Over the years, we lovingly worked on landscaping by adding trees, plants, & foliage most of which are native to Hawaii. We continued by adding a pond & waterfall and worked on improving the dwellings including our dance studio located on back of the premises.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
We love beautiful Victorians because they have so much character and this home was exactly what we were looking for when we made our move to the Peninsula. Our goal was to bring a piece of Hawaii to this land, to grow native plants, and have a place to continue our Cultural work. We love the fact that this area where our home is located is so convenient to shopping, restaurants, shopping malls, theaters, and all the specialty shops we could ever need....not to mention the abundance of parking which was refreshing moving here from the Big City of San Francisco.
