Blue Hill Village
The cottage is located close to Blue Hill, Brooklin and Sedgwick villages with numereous restaurants, galleries, libraries, shopping stores in these quaint Maine villages. The Blue Hill pennisula is a wonderful area to explore and is close by to Acadia National Park for day trips. Deer Isle/Stonington is just over the bridge and is also a wonderful area to hike, explore, swim, kayak, gallery browsing while enjoying a classic Maine coastal setting.
Year Purchased: 2003
About the owner: We moved to the Blue Hill Pennisula for summers in 2003 to be in a rural coastal enviroment loving to hike, kayak, swim and to explore the coastal islands and area. Being outdoors as much as we can during the summer, gardening and enjoying family and friends is a rewarding way of living.
Why the Owner Chose Blue Hill: Salt Pond Cottage is on a small Saltwater Farm over two hundreds year old. We built this new cottage on part of the property, closer to the water than the old farm house in a setting that is natural, changing daily with the tides with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. We are close to the villages (5 miles) and are surrounded by blueberry fields, protected fields and wet lands and water.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage: Salt Pond is a wonderful body of water (about 5 miles long) to explore with kayaks or canoes, swimming at high tides, with little development on Salt Pond. There are lots of coastal and mountain hiking trails in the area. The cottage takes full advantage of the views and setting. We live in the old farm house (close by) to assist (if desired) to any of your needs or questions about the area.
