Great place, incredible view.
Great place, incredible view.
We stayed here for a month in June and July 2013 and had a great time. The house was perfect for us with 3 adults and a young child. As long as everyone is ok climbing a few stairs then you are rewarded with a beautiful house and an incredible view. The house is halfway up a hill so there are some stairs, but our 3.5yr old did it no problem. It really did feel like you we're out of the city while being 5 minutes from some great areas in Berkeley and Oakland. Free parking was never a problem on the street at the bottom of the stairs. Scott has done a great job restoring the house and was very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. We felt welcome immediately, right down to having some toys on hand for our son. The house was just as it appears in the photos, except the view is way better than the photo conveys. You can see the whole bay and it is fun to watch any time of day. I'd still be standing there if we didn't have to get home. We had a great visit and would not hesitate to stay here again if we are ever back in the area, can't recommend it enough.

Recommended for: Families with young children, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Dear Evan, You and your family are a delight and we are happy that you had a wonderful time at our home away from home. As you mentioned, climbing some stairs is worth the ever changing view of the Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay. We are continuing to build our cache of toys, puzzles, games and books so children feel welcome and engaged. Our property is unique because we live on a walking trail and not a street so it feels like being in the country with lots to explore. We wish you and your family many happy and safe adventures. Best Regards, Scott

About the owner: I have lived in Berkeley & Oakland for over 40 years and love Northern California. It is my pleasure to share my knowledge of the area and suggest interesting places for guests to explore and experience.
Why the Owner Chose Berkeley:
This property is our primary residence and we are lovingly restoring it. We are continuing to upgrade and complete renovations like exterior shingles, adding a master bathroom, restoring the basement and landscaping. We do not work on these projects while guests are here. The house is fully functional, we are just making it better.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Private location and fantastic views. It's a little country in the city with all the amenities.
