This newly refurbished and constructed honeymoon cottage is located on the edge of Lake Lure with dramatic mountain and water views. This rental is loaded with amenities- most importantly your very own boat to cruise the 27 miles of shoreline at sunset! A favorite destination by Boat will take you to a local fine-dining restaurant where you can park your boat and enjoy a delicious meal while viewing the panoramic scenery. Take a minute to feed the ducks or trout and then park your very own Boat in the center of the Lake to watch the sun set!
This Mountain Cottage is located just minutes from the town of Lure and the Beach Marina. A stone's throw away is the town of Chimney Rock Village with Chimney Rock Park and quaint antique and handmade craft shops, River Trail, and Restaurants. For
the avid golfer, several mountain courses are located close by.
The waterfront has two wonderful boat houses - one with a deck on top overlooking Hickory Nut Gorge with porch swing and table seating for eight and a beautiful Bennington pontoon boat (seats nine) with CD player, depth finder, and sun deck. PONTOON BOAT IS WINTERIZED THANKSGIVING TO MID-MARCH. Rates reflected include boat and hot tub included when they are not winterized. A second Boat House garages a Hobie one or two-seater kayak with rudder control and optional pedals (incl.
with rental fee all year ).
A spiral staircase leads to the lower wraparound decking on the lake front for swimming and fishing. Just a jump off the dock will put you in arms reach of a floating platform perfect for sunbathing and viewing Hickory Nut Gorge.
After a full day of hiking act like the locals and grab your noodle for everyones favorite past-time-"FLOATING" on Lake Lure is sure to relax you as you watch ducks, Canadian Geese, and the occasional Eagle go by.
The cottage includes a beautifully appointed Great Room with rich Brazilian Cherry floors, Fireplace with remote control and beamed log ceiling. A king-sized bed with fine linens and fluffy pillows compliment the expanse of windows that overlook a view of the lake and mountains. The sitting area includes a chair bed (twin size) to accommodate a child, comfortable sofa and coffee table. The fully-stocked gourmet kitchen has command center views of the lake with new appliances, custom maple cabinets, and a granite bar with seating for four.
The newly constructed Bathroom has a large L-shaped shower with dual shower heads, double sinks, and private toilet room. Spa towels are included with all bed linens.
Several outdoor areas include a large stone Patio overlooking the lake with a stone outdoor fire pit, rocking chairs, and breathtaking views any time of the year.
There is a Hot Tub above the cottage with higher views of the expansive mountains and lake below. This Hot Tub features five seats with four six-jetted massagers, night time interior lighting, and a relaxing built-in recliner. A quieter, shady spot would include the "bird's eye" view nestled below the trees in a soft, double-wide hammock for two.
Hot tub is winterized Thanksgiving to mid-March.

Our professional housekeeping will provide you with first-class, clean and comfortable accommodations. Special services (gift baskets, wine, champagne) can be ordered and placed in your cottage prior to your arrival.

My husband and I stayed at the cottage in May 2011. It was comfortable, clean and right on the water. We fed the ducks daily and watched the hummingbirds. Everything one might need was at your fingertips as the cottage was well stocked. Although it is a studio design, it is spacious and has plenty of room. The location was great. The cottage is not on a main road so there is no traffic noise. The steps are definitley a workout. We would recommend this lovely vacation spot and cottage. We would like to visit again. Thanks to the owners for letting us share their lovely lake home.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, romantic getaway.

This was the best getaway that my wife and I have ever had. If there was ever a heaven on earth, this would be the spot. The location of the honeymoon cottage is one of the best in Lake Lure. It had breathtaking views and is close to pretty much everything in Lake Lure. We spent most of our days relaxing on the lake house deck and on the pontoon boat overlooking the gorgeous views of Lake Lure. We will definitely be back.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway.

From scouting out various Dirty Dancing locations to taking sunset dips in the lake, my boyfriend and I definitely had "the time of our lives" on our Lake Lure vacation this past August. The Potter's house was impeccable and had all the amenities you could ask for (and then some). Charlie was a great boat guide and we loved cruising on the pontoon boat morning, noon, and night. We had a great time and can't wait to return. Definitely worth every penny!

We stayed at Honeymoon Cottage from June 12 to 16, 2010. Every once in a while, something exceeds your expectations. This vacation exceeded ours. The Potters are a pleasure to rent from, take pride in their property, and have taken all steps possible to provide the necessary comforts. The cottage is beautiful and clean. The pontoon boat runs perfect and is a wonderful way to enjoy the scenery Lake Lure has to offer. My wife enjoyed the kayak each morning after coffee on the boathouse deck. We would recommend this cottage to any couple looking for a quality vacation.

7/16/06 Just Married and we spent our Honeymoon at "The Honeymoon Cottage" We loved it so much we did not want to leave! We enjoyed speaking with the neighbors and all! What a great time, we will be back. Just a note to say what a beautiful place to spend your honeymoon. B. and I had a wonderful time. Some of the best highlights were all the different bird species the feeders brought.
