Conveniently located to all that Victoria and the surrounding area has to offer, we are 10 minutes by car to the heart of downtown or the fields of the Saanich Peninsula and 5 minutes to the University of Victoria. Swallow's Nest has a separate and private number-coded entrance so that you can come and go completely independently.
The suite has a fully equipped kitchen, complete laundry set up, very comfortable queen sized bed with top quality linens (and comfy cushions for lounging wth a book or movie), T.V. with DVD player, wireless internet, clock radio, plenty of closet space, in fact everything you could need to make your stay in Victoria comfortable as well as memorable! The walls of this gracious suite are adorned with original art by local artists.
If meal preparations are not part of your holiday plans there is a breakfast/lunch cafe just around the corner and numerous options for dinner nearby as well. (I've counted 6 fast food places, 4 pizza places, 4 deli's, 7 restaurants, all within a 5 minute walk!) There is a grocery store, pharmacy (with a fabulous selection of really good chocolate!), B.C. Government liquor store, Starbuck's and other fast food outlets within a couple of blocks. I've tried to post the local restaurants, grocery store etc. on the google map but for some peculiar reason a few of the markers ended up downtown! You will find a more complete list in the suite.

Whenever I come to Victoria I visit all the sites, Beautiful and historic; this results in weary nights. At the end of the day I really need a place of quiet rest, The perfect place for me I've found, is lovely Swallow's Nest.

A central location to provide a comfortable base from which to enjoy the many adventures possible in Victoria. In the immediate vicinity you will find a grocery store, liquor store, drug store, birding store, several eatery options. Swallow's Nest is two short blocks from a direct route to downtown, located just 7 km to the south.
We are 3 km from the outstanding rhododendron gardens, Finnerty Gardens, of the University of Victoria. The campus also offers wonderful walks in the woods as well as the ecological reserve, Mystic Vale.
Mount Tolmie, a short walk or shorter drive, offers a panoramic view of the city as well as many kms of walking trails. For hikes in a forest park there is Mount Douglas Park, 5 km to the north, which has beach access to a rocky shore overlooking Haro Straight as well as a lookout which gives fabulous 360 degree views of Victoria and the Saanich Peninsula. For a sandy beach experience Gyro Park is 4 kms to the east and offers a lovely expanse of beach on Cadboro Bay for beach combing and sail boat watching. The Royal Victoria Yacht Club sails out of Cadboro Bay and has an active racing contingent of members.
A short drive or bus-ride will take you right into the heart of downtown Victoria and all of the tourist opportunities offered there.

About the owner: Although I have lived in this house for just a short while I feel more at home here than I did after 8 years in my previous house! And, I think, the suite has the same comfortable ambiance now that it has been freshly painted and decorated.
I have lived on Vancouver Island most of my life, growing up in the Cowichan Valley, and have lived in Victoria since I was a student, way back in 1970. My children were raised here and we spent many happy summers as a family sailing the waters around the Gulf Islands.
My son & son-in-law have done the landscaping in the front yard and in the warmer months guests will be able to enjoy the garden from their own sitting area. I enjoy gardening and spend many happy hours planning and puttering amongst my perennials and rhododendrons. In the cooler months I enjoy reading, sewing teddy bears, creating art and spending time with my grandchildren.
I have a large-ish, very quiet, dog, Molly, who is 3/4 Boxer and 1/4 Dalmation, so am unable to accommodate pets. She will be happy to meet and greet, with much wiggling and tail-wagging, should a guest so desire!
Why the Owner Chose Victoria: I feel very comfortable in this quiet part of Victoria. In less than 15 minutes I can be anywhere downtown or out into the farmland of the Saanich Peninsula. The trails of Uvic are just up the hill and are welcoming to dog owners - I love walking the park-like setting of these trails. I have seen owls, ravens, hawks and eagles many times on these walks, not to mention the wide variety of plant life.
