This sun filled, open floor contemporary house built in the 70’s on 3.5 wooded acres, is designed according to the nature around it. The 2200 sf house is built on several levels with two decks, providing both lots of open space and nooks for privacy while being together. The Cathedral ceilings in most rooms and the numerous windows add to the feeling of space in the house, which is sparsely furnished with family antiques from England and France. The house features 4 Bedrooms: one guest bedroom with full size bed on the first floor. On the second floor, one Master bedroom with queen size bed, one Guest bedroom with full size bed and a full bathroom with bath.
The Lower level guest suite has one full size bed in the bedroom and a full size sleeper in living room. This private suite has a full bathroom (shower), a working fireplace and its own private screen in porch facing East and the woods.
The first floor, besides the guest bedroom, which can double as an office, features a full bathroom (shower), a large living room with a working fire place, a Dining Room and a fully equipped Kitchen with a Bar Island on the main open floor, and a large trek deck ideal for Spring or Summer breakfasts.
On an other level of the first floor, is the large Family/TV room, ideal for games, watching films, reading. This room is adjacent to a full laundry room with washer and dryer and leads to the second wood deck and the pool. The pool is a large above the ground pool, fenced in and enclosed in a large wood deck surrounded with flower beds and beyond, by the large fenced-in back yard.
This set up offers total privacy and the large deck is ideal for BBQ’s around the pool.
Attached to the house, is a 2 Car Garage.

Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: Living in NYC for 30 years, I always had an interest in the Hudson Valley. There is a mystic and a rich history to it, the Hudson is an incredibly beautiful river and has inspired many artists. After all those years, I decided to fulfill my passion for the area, the nature there and looked for a house.
Why the Owner Chose Rhinebeck: This particular property has the advantage of being 1h30 from the city, right off the Taconic, yet it is in a beautiful bucolic and rural area with mostly farms. Situated just a few miles away, we immediately loved the little village of Clinton, which consists of just a few houses. And just minutes away in Tivoli or elsewhere, you can sit with your feet in the Hudson while watching the sun set...
The Unique Benefits at this House: We wanted the charm of the country with a contemporary and informal space for conviviality. This is about the first house we saw and we knew it was it! The feeling of space is incredible; it offers great privacy inside and out. The trees were old and beautiful, there was this huge backyard totally private, cut out from our own little forest. The house design, inside and outside seems to have been made for one's comfort and contemplation. There is a multitude of birds nesting on the property, from black caps, to cardinals and hawks...the wild life is phenomenal right in this yard with wild turkeys walking through, a little woodchuck living under the tool shed, deer families coming out after the rain...the house, which is entirely renovated and furnished with family antiques from England and France, also offered total privacy, while not being isolated. The dream had come through, the house is extremely convivial, private, practical yet with a great deal of charm and our family with kids in college spend precious times there.
