  My wife and I recently enjoyed a wonderful stay at Villa Nuba in Perugia (September 15-30, 2012). The Apartment and Grounds: Del Bonfigli was the perfect size for a couple and was very well appointed with everything we needed for a two week stay. We enjoyed cooking many of our own Italian meals in the kitchen and also used the outdoor grill when we craved some good steaks. Each morning we would enjoy our breakfast out on the beautiful patio area and many nights we would finish there with a glass of wine. The grounds at Villa Nuba are also very nice. The pool area is well maintained and in a beautiful setting. The salt water was a bit cool given it was late September but very refreshing. I was in the pool nearly every day, and then would dry off under the warm Umbrian sun. We would essentially tour an Umbrian city one day and then rest, relax and hang out at the pool the next making for a great combination. Because of the secluded nature of Villa Nuba, you very much feel you are out in the countryside but are only a 5 minute walk to a couple of grocery stores and cafes. Only a twenty minute walk to central Perugia. Perugia/Umbria: This was our third visit to Italy and our best so far. Perugia is a wonderful historic and medieval town that is very active at night, great for exploring history or just hanging out at one of the outside eateries at night. We highly recommend you go have a drink at Vista Point, an open air bar, which is near Piazza Italia. On a clear night you have this amazing view and can clearly see towns like Assisi off in the distant hillsides. Truly special. It’s a view and place where you have one of those “I can’t believe I’m really here” experiences. Perugia is also a large town and central to many of the historical Umbrian cities that you will want to visit. A few that we visited include Gubbio, Orvieto, Assisi, Montefalco (my favorite and the best wines) and Bevagna. We also took a day and visited the Marmore waterfalls in Southern Umbria which provided a nice break and something different from all the medieval towns. The Owners: All the comments you read on Giuseppe and Elga are true. Such a nice couple and so very helpful. We consider ourselves to be pretty self sufficient travelers and enjoy exploring on our own but anytime at all we needed advice or help they were right there.

  Villa Nuba provided an excellent place to stay while visiting Italy. We stayed for four wonderful weeks in the smallest of the three apartments, which was perfect for two people. The apartment was spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished, and perfectly comfortable. The patio, swimming pool and cabana provided beautiful places to relax and to hang out with other guests and with Giuseppe and Elga, the couple who own and manage the place. Without a doubt, Giuseppe and Elga are the friendliest, nicest and most helpful people we have stayed with. Giuseppe has excellent recommendations for restaurants and is more than willing to help out with directions, calling taxis (even at 6 in the morning), and just helping you understand the sights and history of Perugia and the hill towns of Umbria. Villa Nuba is located on the northeast edge of Perugia in a scenic area with hills, farms, vineyards, and olive groves. Gorgeous views! Giuseppe met us at the train station when we arrived and took us first on a quick tour of the area. Everything we needed – groceries, pharmacy, pizza and bakery – were located closeby. We used public transportation while in Italy and found it very easy to do from Villa Nuba. Mostly, though, we walked into town, which takes about 25 minutes. It’s a bit of a climb, but if you like good exercise walking with beautiful surroundings of old historic buildings with frequent views of fields and mountains, Perugia is the place to be. From Perugia, we found it easy to travel out of town with good access to buses and trains to Umbrian hill towns, Florence, Rome and Venice. Villa Nuba was much, much better than even the web site shows. It was like a little bit of heaven that Giuseppe and Elga have created for their guests. It is by far the best living experience we have ever had in our travels. Villa Nuba has our absolute highest recommendation. We will stay there again without hesitation the next time we come to Umbria.

  We really feel that we lucked out by choosing Villa Nuba. Giuseppe and his wife are amazing hosts.... The welcome basket of food upon arrival is such a simple thing to offer, and very much appreciated after a few hours of travel. Giuseppe spent time taking us around the key parts of Perugia and then helped us with our itinerary for the entire week. It was the perfect plan for us. We loved his passion for his community of Umbria. The apartment- we stayed in a small one as it was only for 2 of us. The apt was beautiful. Spotlessly clean and the kitchen had everything you needed. Having laundry facilities was helpful too. The gardens, pool, barbeque... all overlooking the landscapes of Umbria. They really did a great job renovating the apartments and both take such great pride in their property. After some sightseeing it was fun to come "home" to relax by the pool, have a glass of Umbrian wine and just enjoy the landscapes. We have been to Italy 6 years in a row, this is our first visit to Umbria. We will be back for sure, and I will be staying at Villa Nuba for sure. There is no point looking any further, it will be nice to visit our "home" in Perugia. Thank you for such a wonderful, memorable holiday!

  We stayed at Villa Nuba for 5 weeks in September – October 2004. It is very conveniently situated and, whilst it has beautiful views of the countryside, it is also very close to public transport, cafés and shopping. The centro storico is also within reasonable walking distance.We were delighted with our stay there and had a marvellous time. The Nuzzaci family were very welcoming and friendly. Our apartment was spacious, very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Giuseppe and his family reside on another part of the property and during our stay they were always very pleasant but never intrusive. Giuseppe himself was always most helpful and assisted us in many ways from collecting us at the station to assisting with booking football tickets.We can unhesitatingly recommend Villa Nuba to anyone wishing to visit Perugia.We hope that all is well with you and your family.   Ciao Giuseppe! As the ice and snow of winter make us long to hibernate, we long for Villanuba (and our "own" del Pinturicchio)! We had such a lovely time with you last October - everything you described on your web site was true, plus! - and then there were your hospitality and kind helpfulness as bonuses. Perugia and Villanuba were the perfect base for our in-depth exploration of nearby Umbrian hill towns (Assisi, Gubbio, Spello, Todi, Perugia itself (accessibly entirely on foot)), for Lago Trasimeno (Panicale was a treasure), for the Majolica you helped us to find in Deruta, and for forays to Tuscany (Cortona, Orvieto and Arezzo). We did this by car (with easy access to and from the nearby motorway), but our downstairs neighbors showed us that we could have managed completely with public transportation. We're already planning our next trip to charming Italy. Please give our thanks and best regards to your parents. And please do include any or all of these comments on your web site, if you wish.   The whole time, the memory of the fun time we had in Umbria, and your beautiful apartment, and how very nice and friendly you and your family were, kept us happy the whole way. It's going to take a while before I get used to being back home. In the few hours we've been here, we've told so many people about your wonderful apartment and your generous hospitality that they all want to go.
