The Pilot House
The Pilot House
We stayed at the Pilot House for 6 days in January. The house is really very nice - convenient, roomy, clean, comfortable, and well equipped. Everything is as described on the website. The wireless internet is a bit unreliable, but usually works OK. I have stayed in other properties in the area and I can say that this is the best value for money in Lakeside. Charles was great to deal with - very honest, reliable and responsive.

Owner response: Thank you so much for the response! I'm glad you enjoyed your time, and I am so sorry the internet was an issue, being on and off, as it has been for so many people. After your input (thank you for bringing that to my attention!) we have changed providers and now we have reliable high speed WiFi that has a 100% up time at 30mbps. The other just wasn't cutting it! Thank you for letting me know because your input is the only way I can make the home better for others. I hope you had a nice trip back overseas. It was pleasure meeting you and your family. Sincerely, Charles
What more can we say ... simply, Ahhhhhhhh! We were looking for a place where we could unwind, de-stress, relax ... a place of peace and quiet ... a place with great amenities, good location, great comforts, and a home away from home. We found it ALL here! We hesitated to give such a wonderful review because we didn't want this hidden gem to get out ... keeping it all to ourselves! Charles & his wife even set up a Christmas tree and added little Christmas decor throughout ... thank you. Photo's didn't do it justice ... it was better! Very clean, well maintained and Charles was a wonderful host (very helpful). Bed was so comfortable, we slept in every morning! Rented a boat one day from Ringo's ... cruised the north and south part of the lake ... great day! We didn't eat out because we had such a great kitchen to cook in. Faun, our dog, loved the outdoors ... the sun shining on the deck was her favorite spot! We will return ... thank you.

Owner response: Again thank you! Reading these reviews is such a pleasure for me and seeing that you enjoyed your time at our place. We have been making a few changes, but they are all for the good! Reliable and secure WiFi is one thing that we have added, from many recommendations. (including yours) as well as a comprehensive folder with information about the house and area. I cannot express my gratitude for your staying with us and leaving our vacation home in such great shape! Sincerely, Charles
We we're so impressed by this place. There were four of us and we were all so comfortable. The pictures were accurate. The place was beautiful! Very clean and ready for arrival. We fished off the dock and watched 3D movies. The local was ideal. We all walked everywhere. To the grocery store, the marina, and even the local tavern. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We even rented a pontoon boat and had a blast. Can't wait for our return.

Lovely Home & Great Vacation!
Lovely Home & Great Vacation!
The home is beautiful and located in a great spot that is walking distance to the stores, restaurants, bar and the fishing dock at the park. We had a great time catching trout, catfish, perch & bass from the boat we rented (walking distance to rent a boat) and the fishing dock & we would rent this place again if vacationing in the area.

This was a top-notch vacation rental. Everything was there that you could possibly need, dishes glasses, pots and pans and all kinds of bake ware, spices, coffee and tea, even toothpicks, great TV and lots of books and WiFi. The house was brand new and beautiful and very comfortable. It was great having the dock right there for our boat. It also seems very safe. There were two deer in the side yard the day we left.I would recommend it highly and the owner was very nice and hospitable! Very reasonable for what you get.Thank you Charles!

Owner response: I'm glad you enjoyed the house and for listing many of those amenities that I might have neglected mentioning. I'm glad you saw some wildlife in the area, many of the deer in the area swim back and forth across the lake and onto the Park Ave Peninsula and that can be very neat to see. We do have very competitive rates in the off season and I'm happy to say that guests get more than they pay for. Thanks again.
Beautiful home convenient location
Beautiful home convenient location
My family loved our stay at the Pilot house. Very conveniently located near a store and marina. Everything was nearly new in the house and very clean. We loved the open floor plan, with large dinning room table and deck with barbeque. The lake was a bit low when we were there, so when we rented a ski boat we were warned about going up in the channel the house was on. We just raised the prop as far up as it would go and turned the boat around by hand. We didn't have any problems with hitting anything and I assume September would be the lowest water levels of the year. Thanks again for sharing your home and next time you will have to join us for dinner.

Owner response: Thank you and I'm glad you enjoyed the location, layout and amenities. Our water levels are at the lowest during September and early October or until we get those first rains that bring the water levels up and the salmon in. Yet, this year has been exceptionally low because our rainfall has been just under 30% of the annual average. I'm glad you didn't have any issues getting the boat in and out, and yes, it is always recommended to trim up the out-drive near any shoreline on Tenmile just to be safe because of old trees that may be partially submerged. Thanks again and I will plan on joining you for dinner next time. It was a pleasure meeting you all!

The Pilot House is so beautiful. The location on an inlet is so quiet and peaceful. Its hard to believe you can walk to the market, it feels so secluded. The house itself has everything you need. My husband wanted to take the bed with us. We didn't bring anything with us and we didn't miss anything. Thank you, Charles for sharing your home. We will be back!

Owner response: Thank you very much for the review. I'm glad you enjoyed the master king which we shopped for weeks to find the right ones. (In the guest bed is a matching queen) I'm happy to hear we made the right decision. Thank you for leaving the home in great condition upon checkout. We would be more than happy to have you back anytime.
Looking forward to an awesome vacation !
Looking forward to an awesome vacation !
Well we arrived after two solid days of travel, to be greeted by the smell of urine from what the Owner said was down to the previous renters bringing three large dogs instead the allowable one. Then we had arranged using the WiFi to chat with my Mum and Dad in Australia, which was one of the main reasons we booked as the advertisement said included WiFi. Well this was only possible on the second night as the owner had to come over and try and sort it out, well he managed it but then it seemed to stop working again except for early morning about 6-7.00am? The house apart from this was ok and everything seemed new and fine. The actual position of the house being in Lakeside well maybe we should have checked deeper into that as there are places to eat but the two places I ate I wouldn't recommend. Some leaflets would have been good to have in the house of attractions that were nearby and this compounded the WiFi problem!

Owner response: Thank you for the review, the information has been very helpful. I encourage every traveler to take the time to give valuable input. You are correct, there was a nightmare party that stayed before and after reading the review I had flooring professional UV light the carpet and he found the spot in front of the downstairs TV, which was cleaned and treated thoroughly. For your benefit I wish you’d have contacted me when you found the problems so I could have addressed the spot and you wouldn’t have had to live with it. I am more than happy and willing to address any and all issues that come up with the home, but I can’t fix problems if I don’t know they exist. Thank you for letting me know that the WIFI was not connecting on your devices when you arrived. After you confirmed my resetting it had solved the problem I had no reason to believe that it had gone offline. Again, I am always more than happy troubleshoot and solve any and all problems in a timely and professional fashion, but it’s impossible to address them if I don’t know that there is an issue. As per policy, for guest privacy and security and I can only check things at the home, like the internet, if my presence is welcome and requested. I’m glad you found “the house fine and new.” I’ve put a great deal of time and effort into making it an accommodating place for the dozens of groups we’ve had stay this first season. As for the restaurants in the area, I believe there are a decent number of them considering our small population and I’m sorry you didn’t enjoy any of those either. I do not fill the house with ad brochures for businesses in the area because I’ve worked very hard making the house into a place that guests feel right at home. In my opinion, cluttering the home with leaflets and ads doesn’t seem to fit that idea. For any future guests that have questions about the area, climate, or local attractions I am happy to pass on any of that information or refer them to places where they can find it. All you have to do is ask!
Charles and his wife were very accommodating, letting us check in early. The home was as described, clean , modern, with a small deck, and they even had a brand new Barbecue. The home was beautiful and roomy. We took advantage of the beautiful lake, rented a boat and went fishing. The only thing I came back with was a sunburn. I didn't care as it was a very relaxing & beautiful day. We were able to bring our dog as he is small in size. The owners were very accessible for any questions we had during our stay. We would highly recommend staying here if you are in the area. We had some family living close by that came to visit. It was hard to get them to leave they liked it so much.

Owner response: It's nice to hear you enjoyed your stay and I wanted to also thank you for making sure the dog was well behaved. We have had a few issues with pets this year and are reevaluating the pet policy with concern to allergies and the amount of time cleaning it takes from one group to the next. I'm glad you had guests visit that also enjoyed the house and I hope there was plenty of room for everybody to catch up. Thanks again!
Awesome place and location!! Perfect for family, or getaway with friends. Nearly new interior and appliances, spacious parking, quiet street...we really enjoyed our stay, thanks!
