About the owner: A hard-charging, Long Island, NY gal, I grew up in Commack and Setauket and spent most of my adult life in the 'hurry and worry' Suffolk County culture of keeping up with the Joneses. Up here, I'm a different person! Mellow, cheerful, not a care in the world. Vermont is one of the most liberal and progressive states in the US, yet preserves and promotes the family values I hold most dear - honor, integrity and loyalty. This is a place that doesn't just TALK family values; the culture here values families.
Why the Owner Chose Ludlow:
I was immediately enchanted by this house and it's proximity to Okemo and the town of Ludlow. I love not having to use the car to get to the mountain or into town. Since relocating to nearby Rutland, this house has become a vacation destination for family and friends year-round.
The Unique Benefits at this Chateau / Country House:
I always wanted a Victorian with a wrap-around porch, and often turn down the heat to use the wood stove in the kitchen. When I'm lucky enough to score hickory or apple wood, the aroma is divine.
An early riser, I love to sit in the recliner at the east-facing window (or on the porch in summer) and greet the sunrise with a cup of coffee while the house is still quiet and I'm the only one up.
Yet there's plenty of room for the loud and boisterous gatherings of my large Italian family. I think it's that combination of being able to host lots of family and friends yet still have quiet niches when I need peace & quiet that made me fall in love with this place.
