Sit on your Lanai ( 30' long hawaiian covered porch) and enjoy your view .. spectacular crashing white water of the open ocean (throw a rock and hit the water), see your own five miles of white sandy beach which curves around a calm bay..walk there in two minutes and get lost for hours. Fishing boats pass in front of your home, we saw LOTS of whales jumping & birds flying. This home has an entire wall of (operable) sliding glass doors for a panoramic view from the professionally decorated expansive living room, master suite, bar and fabulous kitchen! Loved the view of the Island, too! Dark, cool to the touch, Koa wood floors under your bare feet are throughout the home, enhancing the real Island experience. Another beach is just three minutes to the south of this home where we saw the rare Monk Seal basking in the sun. We looked her number up online.. she might have her baby anytime soon. We saw coral, shells, scurrying hermit sand crabs, numerous shore birds, lots of big sea turtle families and schools of fish swimming in unison in crystal clear, aqua blue, water. If you are an early riser, walk out to the point and watch the sun rise over the ocean or never leave your 'home". Enjoy it all right from your deck. Nothing could have been better! This home is on the water and not on the noisy and busy main Highway. It is located on a spit of land in a safe, quiet area where just a few private, expensive homes have been built. The Lanai provides the perfect amount of protection from wind, if any, and direct sun. We lived out there and loved it! Situated just minutes from many world famous surf beaches, cocktails and dinner out at Olas, the 18 hole Turtle Bay golf course designed by Arnold Palmer and more. Find local and inexpensive food shacks nearby (the owners provide a great list!), tour the Polynesian Cultural Center (10 minutes), don't miss the easy hike up Waimea Canyon to the waterfall and lake. Enjoy the large granite kitchen. A shopping center with a good grocery store is 2 minutes away. Separate breezeway for reading/ naps in comfortable chairs that make into even more beds is delightful... or sleep out on the lanai and hear the crashing waves and feel the island breezes! Palms sway in the breeze. While there, it rained only at night, making the days beautiful and fresh. The 80 degree temp, as we understand is typical in this area, was perfect. The airfare is the least expensive to Oahu, making this the best vacation ever! We are going back!
Owner response:We certainly appreciate such a detailed review of our home and your adventures! We hope you do come back soon and experience more of the magic that we always experience at our island home. Mahalo! Chick & Cookie

Chick & Cookie's home is located in an excellent spot. Its close enough to Honolulu to do the "touristy" stuff and drive back to the peace and serenity of La`ie Point. If the hustle and bustle of Honolulu and Waikiki isn't for you, then drive 15 - 20 mins. north to enjoy Sunset Beach, Sharks Cove, Waimea Bay, or Laniakea Beach (to view the basking sea turtles). If you're a beginner at snorkeling, then Turtle Bay is just 10 mins. away. For more advanced then (previously mentioned) Sharks Cove or beautiful Hanauma Bay (45 mins. south) is great snorkeling and the variety of sea life is abundant (bring an underwater camera!!). For those who like to hike, there's Diamond Head or Manoa Falls. Once you're done hiking Chick & Cookie's home at La`ie Point will be waiting for you. Also within a 30 - 40 min. drive is the Dole Plantation, the pineapple soft serve ice cream is great! Speaking of food . . . during your stay, there are 3 places NOT to miss. 1) The Hukilau Cafe (delicious and VERY affordable), 2) The Kahuku Grill (awesome burgers), and 3) The Impossibles Pizza Truck . . . this truck starts the afternoon at Sunset Beach, moves on to Sharks Cove, and ends the day at Waimea Bay. The prices are reasonable and size of food portions are very generous (a slice of pizza is 1/4 of a large pizza!!). The lasagne (six cheese or sausage) is excellent. Chick & Cookie's home sleeps 7 comfortably. Grocery store (if you're staying for a week you may want to consider a trip to Costco), post office, movie theater, hardware store, and ice cream / shave ice shop are walking distance. The beach (not crowded at all) is barely 1/8 of a mile walk. In the morning, walk to the end of La`ie Point and enjoy the beautiful sunrise that begins the day. The view from the lanai is spectacular and the breeze that comes in is refreshing. The breeze and the sound of the waves in the evening is so relaxing and soothing that you'll have no problem falling asleep. Chick & Cookie, your home made our first Hawaiian vacation a fun and memorable one. It was very hard to leave and hope to go back in the near future. Thank you for welcoming us into your slice of paradise! Vince, Melody, Samantha, Vanessa, JT, John, Heather, and Henrik.
Owner response:Wow, thank you so much for your excellent review! Looks like you had a busy stay and discovered some of the magic of the island. A pleasure having you. We get great pleasure out of sharing our little slice of heaven. Please do come again. We'll "keep the light on" for you. Aloha & Mahalo! Chick & Cookie

If you're looking for a "get away from it all" vacation home, this is the place for you! Chick & Cookie's Hawaii House is paradise found! The tropical breezes, sounds of the ocean waves and the breathtaking views from the lanai whisked our family away to true relaxation. The home is extremely comfortable & well appointed. No comparison to a small, stuffy hotel room in Waikiki! So, forget about the traffic and craziness of the tourists' Hawaii & come to the real Hawaii -- North Shore! PS: Make sure to visit Ted's Bakery -- awesome treats!
Owner response: We are so glad you enjoyed it! We work hard to make our home your "home away". Please come back soon! Mahalo! Chick & Cookie

6/2010) We just spent 2 weeks here with our whole family (8 of us ages 6 years-63 years) and never had a harsh word to say to each other, what does that tell you! The location for exploring the island is great and we did that. But we ended up so happy just walking to the beach we could see to the left of the house and just hanging out on the lanai, reading, eating, playing games and sleeping while the beautiful Pacific graced us with it's beauty and hypnotic sound. It must be one of the most beautiful views in the world! The house is very comfortable and filled with the feeling of aloha...I'd recommend this home to all my family & friends!

What a beautiful house and location. My first impression was to lay out a mattress on the lanai and sleep out there...the sound of the ocean and night time breezes seemed so romantic. A large master bedroom with walk in bath. Two smaller bedrooms and a bathroom off of the combination kitchen and living room. Fully stocked kitchen with bar stools around the kitchen island and a patio table on the lanai. A nice touch is glassed in area around the patio table to break the breeze while eating. I happen to get around in a wheelchair and was able to use the house although not specifically built for access. The upstairs neighbor gave us the combo to the garage and going through the garage there was a small 1/4 step up. I did find the bed mattress a bit old and hard and the bedrooms got hot at night...no A/C...but ceiling fans helped with the windows open. After a few days though we acclimatized though. The long very narrow driveway was a major problem and only one person in our party dared negotiating it when backing out. We finally opened the garage door to turn the car around. All in all it was a great trip and I would love to stay here again.

Aloha Chick & CookieWhat a great place! We had many meals on the lanai. Breakfast will never be the same. The views from your beautiful & comfortable home are amazing. We thank you so much for allowing us to stay here. 9 days was just not enough.30 to 40 ft. wave on Christmas day were unbelievable. The rest of the time the surf was amazing. We were beat up a bit but the beaches were full of activity. Waimea was great for body surfing & body boarding although the huge waves beat us down to size a number of times. The beach to the left of the lanai was great for long walks and the sand was fine & compact.P.C.C was a great show…loved the Samoan presentation…a real funny & informative show.Saw sharks of the Haleiwa coast and that was a once in a lifetime experience. A great half day tour.Hanauma Bay and Shark’s Cove were great. Saw lots of sea life.Turtles were abundant at Haleiwa Surf Beach. Saw at least a dozen in just ½ hour.Yummy treats at Ted’s Bakery. The Glazers…like a donut were fresh and delicious.Parasail and Jet Ski at Wikiki was another fun activity although we should all have taken a good dose of Dramamine cuz the seas were rough. All and all a great vacation for the 7 of us. My family thanks you so much. The Arbuckles

Chick and Cookie Thank you for your "Hawaiian Hospitality"!Your island retreat was comfortable and beautiful. As a family we came from California to visit our Hawaiian family to come together for a one year memorial celebration of my father's passing. Together, we have so many incredible memories of him and our past vacations here...in fact we stayed one minute away from our last family vacation with him! As always we enjoyed our favorites of... Keneke's in Waimanalo for plate lunch (so ono!), Ling Hing Mui Pineapple, listening to live local music (Maunalua at Duke's Waikiki of Fridays!), Ted's Bakery Pies, the Swap Meet, and Ko'Olina Lagoons. We also discovered the Artis Family in Haleiwa- what amazing talent, passion, and artistic ability! Again, MAHALO! very much for making your home so comfortable! Our time spent here was relaxing and reminiscent of memories with Dad. Love, Barbara, Alison, Tim, Daniel, Cambria, Tiffany, and Nick The Family of Andrew Duran
