My husband and I were fortunate enough to spend our month long vacation at Hillview by the bay in November, 2012. The weather was perfect at that time of the year. After a very tiring trip across the ocean, we were delighted to arrive to this piece of tropical paradise. The house was charming and spacious, and beautifully decorated - it felt like home from the moment we walked in. Having the view of the bay from our bedroom and waking up to that scene every morning was amazing. We still miss that. A gourmet grocery store is just a short walk way which made life easy. We could get anything we needed there from the finest steaks, to Florida stone crabs, to gourmet cheeses and absolutely amazing desserts. The restaurant choices were also incredible - we could eat anything from Italian to Indian, all on the same street. We could have eaten at a different restaurant every night if we wanted to :) We discovered that Siesta beach is only a short drive – a truly magnificent beach, a must see - so every morning we took an hour walk on this beautiful white sandy beach. The sand was like talcum powder. As we both love the outdoors, we also took bike-rides almost every day. Our favorite spot was the downtown marina park around sunset. The sailboats around the bay are gorgeous and offer great photo taking opportunities. We took a sunset cruise one day from the marina and we even saw some dolphins along the way. It was a great trip. Thank you for letting us stay at your beautiful home. We will be returning :)Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with teenagers, people with disabilities, adventure seekers, age 55+, sightseeing.

Julianna Koteles, Budapest, Hungary My partner and I stayed at Hillview for 2 months last June and July. It was the vacation of a lifetime. The location was perfect. Coming from Europe, we thought that we would need a car to get around, but we were pleasantly surprised to find out that many restaurants were just a few minutes away. Our favorite was Sam Sneads Tavern - they have the best ribs in the world. We also enjoyed the kayak provided by the owners. We explored the coves of Sarasota which gave us a whole different perspective of the area. We used the pool almost every day as it was hot - the cool refreshing pool water was perfect in the heat. The house was fully equipped and we were very comfortable. As I enjoy cooking, I was happy to see that the kitchen had everything that we could possibly need. Having a full serviced office area also made it easy to conduct our business away from home. We loved the house and all of its amenities, but what we most enjoyed was the outside space. We spent many afternoons on the dock, having a glass of wine, watching the birds and fish swimming in the water. We had a great time and I would recommend this treasure to anyone who is looking for a great vacation spot close to everything, yet still very private and intimate.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+.
