The pictures do not do the property justice. This place is fantastic. 3 couples stayed here for 5 nights and we all enjoyed the amenities. From lounging outside to the hanging in the game lounge to sitting by the pool, everyone had enough room to relax after a day at the wineries. Ann is great to deal with and there are special touches through out. Food and a midstay cleaning were even included. Thank you for making our 5 nights the best vacation ever.

Serene and elegant and spacious and very comfortable
Serene and elegant and spacious and very comfortable
Indian Springs in the winter is particularly beautiful. The vineyards on the way up from the City are at their most minimal and formal. It is cold and sometimes rainy but the spa is fragrant and warm and that wonderful pool is steamy and at its most inviting. We have been going up every year as a family since 1991. We have stayed in the cottages and the Hill House and the Merchant House and then the "new Lodge". All beautifully appointed, all with the luxurious Indian Springs bathrobes for the leisurely walks back and forth from the pool. But this year, we stayed at their new residence, The River House. Five minutes by car from Indian Springs in downtown Calistoga , and in a serene vineyard setting, it is that perfect combination of elegant and comfortable. Imagine a couch at the dining table, a large recreation room where you can play chess or set up your puzzle for the duration, enough reading lamps, a fabulous kitchen with a gas stove. So we cooked and ate and read and talked and put on our Indian Springs River House robes and drove to Indian Springs for a massage and a swim. It was a perfect interlude and especially perfect in the early mornings, lying in bed watching the fog burn off and the mountain and vineyards slowly emerge.

During a recent trip to Calistoga for a birthday celebration for a friend I was happily surprised with an overnight stay at River House. It was like being "home" - only BETTER. The decor of the house is in total harmony with its environment ....quiet, calming and comforting....and, not surprisingly, complete with multiple locations (inside and out) to breathe, decompress and just "be" as you take in this stunning part of wine-country. The kitchen is modern and fully equipped making 'hanging out" at the adjacent farm table so easy. The Master bedroom (downstairs) was fabulous but alas went to the birthday girl. I stayed upstairs in the other king-size bed room - which was so comfy I didn't want to get up the next a.m. I am one of 9 and with either some of my sibs and spouses or friends I plan to return and enjoy a more extended get-away later this year. Our time there was brief - but we did take a peek at the "lounge" area which just seems so perfect for a "group" staying at the property for a few days. And what would "getting away" be without a stunning pool - which no surprise is also part of this beauty of a property. Next time - all areas on the property will be fully enjoyed and my stay will be longer than overnight !
