• Details:

  Our home is only 10 mins drive away from the gulf coast beaches - there are so many to choose from. Our favourite is Venice Beach where you can fish from the pier and when you get peckish drop into Sharkeys on the pier for fresh fish or burgers - in the evening it is a popular place with locals and visitors alike as you watch the sunset over a drink! Boat hire is very reasonable and you can charter your own small boat and go for a whole day with a picnic and stop off at any small beach you see along the way - its brilliant day out and ideal for seeing dolphins and manatees. The dolphins are very friendly and will run with the boat for a while so you can take pictures of them. If you fancy a day out shopping Sarasota is only 40 mins drive away and the shops and restaurants are first rate. There is a marina and plenty of beaches to choose from. You can also visit Maria Island from here which is a stunning white sand beach. Port Charlotte to the south, 20 mins drive, is a shopping mall complete with all the larger department stores such as JC Penney and Macys - there are restaurants in the mall to have a delicious lunch and even a cinema to watch the latest blockbuster. Surrounding the mall outside are more places to eat including Red Lobster which we can thoroughly recommend - our children love it here! If you fancy visiting the theme parks Orlando is about 2 1/2 drive away, we sometimes book a hotel close to Disney and go to the theme parks for 2 days then drive back down to the house for some relaxation time - its a great way to keep the children amused and that way everyone gets the holiday they really want. Closer to the house are the 6 championship golf courses, while the men are away playing golf it will give the ladies are perfect time to either shop, visit a spa, or just relax by the pool and enjoy the peace and quiet....morecollapse
