Our stay was extremely comfortable and relaxing. The accomodations left us wanting for nothing. Very clean, roomy and quiet. The property is beautifully manicured and the jungle/clifts give the feeling of lush Hawaii. Linda is a a very gracious and fun host. We highly recommend this VRBO. Close to many attractions a beaches.

We loved Jurassic Park. Not only was it impeccably clean and newly remodeled, we liked the decor and found it very comfortable. Everything you will need is there. We liked having the beach chairs, mats, and towels and used them every day. There are lots of books and reference guides for the various activities in the area and we found it close to all of the places we wanted to go for the most part. The kitchen is vary spacious and you will find what you need there too. The view of the mountains was about as good as it gets. We didn't get to hear the rain coming down the mountain, but the sounds of the birds was a relaxing way to wake up. The kitties that hung around the deck were cute too. We gave it four stars for two reasons, there was no laundry facilities on site (we had to go to the laundromat) and the ridge in the driveway. Although we understood the importance of it being there, it would have been nice to know about in advance. One person had to get out of the car to get over it and it still scraped bottomed out the car and scraped every time. We had a Nissan Altima as a rental car so I'd recommend something higher off the ground like a cross over, SUV, or truck. Otherwise it was great! We loved it there and would definitely stay again if laundry was put in. Thank you very much, Linda!
Owner response:Thank you for your comments. This property is "within" the Waiahole Rainforest and therefore we are limited on the amount of "waste water" we can create (restrictions on the number of bathrooms and laundry facilities). Unfortunately it is not as simple as adding a washer/dryer. As for the driveway ridge, some cars will scrape slightly however, ALL vehicles can back over this ridge into the driveway and that information listed in the info. we provide. We encourage you to please read all the guest comments (42) I think you will find that nobody else had an issue with the driveway and small/compact cars are fine, no need for crossover's or SUV's. Get whatever type of car you think you would enjoy during your stay. Mahalo, Linda & Ken / Owners

My husband and I spent 6 nights at this lovely cottage. We used it as a home base, it was a well appointed cottage with everything you might need. The location was perfect, nice and quiet after a long day sightseeing in other busy parts of the island. We would definitely visit this place again. Thanks Linda for sharing your lovely piece of paradise.

My husband and I are 30-somethings that want to enjoy natural beauty, good food, and interesting local sights on vacation- nightlife, shopping and hordes of people are not our thing. When we started to look into vacation rentals on Oahu, our criteria were a reasonable price, positive reviews, decent amenities, and away from Waikiki but still close enough to not spend all our time in the car seeing the sights. This rental was the perfect fit! It is located up a winding road through a quiet residential neighborhood, right at the foot of the mountains. That picture of the waterfalls? It's true- that IS your backyard view and it is amazing. We found the bed comfortable with the ceiling fans and open door sufficient to keep us cool at night in late June. The birds and sun did wake us every morning a little earlier than we sometimes wanted, but I guess Hawaii is just beckoning you to get up and explore! The bathroom was clean and well appointed, and the shower had everything as described and a fantastic big shower head. The kitchen was well equipped; we made smoothies, frozen pizza, coffee, and bacon & eggs during our stay. I only wished for a dishwasher. We took advantage of the boogie boards, snorkel equipment and beach towels they had for our use- it made our stay that much easier. The location was about 45 minutes from the North Shore, 15-20 minutes to Kailua, and (depending on the widely varying traffic) 30-60 minutes to Waikiki. We didn't find a lot of convenient eating establishments right near the rental (though the local grocery store is very well stocked), but Kailua has tons of great places to eat out. Overall, if you want a comfortable, moderate rental with plenty of charm and hospitality that is at the base of Oahu's amazing green mountains and lets you feel like a local, you will not be disappointed with this place! The pictures, description, and reviews really do capture this lovely little home away from home. Mahalo to Linda, Matthew, & Anne!

I did not know this was on my bucket list! We wanted the nature experience in Oahu, not just the beach. I woke every morning and walked out to the hammock with my coffee to bring in the morning gazing at the beautiful mountain. This usually lasted a couple hours because I just wanted to soak it all in. Used the kitchen because it was nicely stocked with pots and pans which gave us a lot of choice for meals. Could have easily stayed a week longer. It was clean, comfortable, quiet and we especially appreciated the joy the little cat Chism brought on his many visits. This is a wonderful getaway for couples or a single traveler wanting quiet time. We really liked the location because it was close to doing the things we were wanting to experience while on this side of the island. We would have happily extended our stay and made the drive into Honolulu for the remaining few days on our visit if there was availability.

This place is terrific! It's clean, comfortable, has fantastic views and is very conveniently located. My husband arrived a day before me and awoke to the sound of the falls. He said it was totally amazing. Living in Florida,we had no desire to stay at the beach. This was perfect; we felt like residents of Hawaii. We didn't cook in the fully equipped kitchen, but kept snacks and stuff in the refrigerator. The bathroom, bed and sheets were fine. The pictures capture the feel of th place. If you are looking for something elegant and fancy, this is not for you. But if you are looking for a reasonably priced, quiet, conveniently located comfortable place with a KILLER view, book it now.

This appartment was just a 'base camp'. Because it was not very confortable, we slept, had breakfast and left for the day. We were not tempted to lounge and relax there (the couch is in the kitchen; the kitchen chairs are very unconfortable so no long dinners or breakfast; although the outside chairs and table were very nice). Yes the view is beautiful, but inside it is just average. Some parts were very clean (fridge, oven, towels and sheets were spotless), others not so much (grout and shower curtain in the bathroom had mold; sheets were clean but had a lot of lint. Please buy new sheets). The location is fantastic. It is within 15 to 45 min to everything: golf, city, pearl harbor, beaches). The house is in a quiet neighborhood. The owner's son was very nice and quiet (there is a shared wall in the kitchen). So if you are looking for a bit of luxury and confort, that's not the place for you. If you are looking for somewhere inexpensive and close to everything, then go for it.

This is the first time I chose a privately owned place off the internet but I saw the reviews on it. Linda Martin was so helpful, answering my questions and easing my fears. My husband and I stayed here for eight nights. We were pleasantly surprised. It's a cute, simple, clean place with quaint decor that met our needs for the stay. I found the weather here to be more pleasant than other places because it's a rain forest but I was glad we had ceiling fans. The area is very quiet and peaceful. The view from the bedroom window off of the patio was incredible. Those mountains and the jungle there was my favorite part and the photos can't really capture it all. Every morning I'd open the sliding door some to hear all the birds and running water behind the jungle lull me back to sleep. These mountains kind of remind me of the Napalis on Kauai. There were no waterfalls when we went but that did not take away from their beauty. It rained off and on but we loved it. The bed was so very comfortable and of a higher quality that I slept great. I've stayed in many hotels and ended up with back pain and I sleep at home on sleep number bed. The owners of the adjoining house were very quiet and we had alot of privacy which we enjoyed. I hiighly recommend seeing the Polynesian Cultural Center and their night time show (Breath of Life). Also the snorkeling at Hanauma Bay. The nearby restaurant Haleiwa Joe's has great food and a beautiful atmosphere and they have a garden you can stroll around in. Waikiki Beach was beautiful and had alot of shopping nearby. I definitely recommend this to friends, those that want to get away from it all and have a rainforest type of experience. It's a good location to get to both ends of the island. Thanks for a memorable stay.

The native Hawaiian birds were wonderful to listen to each morning as one wakes up. My wife still misses them. The view of the verdant cliffs is just the right way to start off the day. Such a clean, convenient studio. More room than our hotel room by the airport and much closer to the Shrimp Shack! If you are looking for a relaxing time on Oahu, consider that this location is close to all beaches, historical sites, and culture you could desire. We saw whales breach near the Makapuu Light House (well worth the hike), Snorkled and saw parrotfish in Hanauma Bay, and even found delicious pineapple right at the neighborhood grocer. Wonderful memories of the USS Arizona and Polynesian Cultural Center. Thanks for helping make this possible.

What a wonderful 5 nights. Jurassic Park is the perfect location to explore the entire island, including attractions in the Honolulu area. The location makes for easy day trips to places like Pearl Harbor and Diamond Head, but it's real attraction is the great access to the rest of the island. Linda's directions were great. We easily found it on our first try, well after dark. We even managed to get a couple of waterfalls our last day. Very clean and comfortable accommodations.

Stayed here starting 11/26/09. The owners, their son and his family are very kind and friendly. We used these accomodations as a home base while we explored the island for 6 glorious days. Though we would have loved to stay at a vacation rental right on the beach, the trade off for this place is it's affordability. (Plenty of beaches just a short drive away.) It was quiet and peaceful and had everything we needed for a great stay.

We had a great time celebrating our anniversary, Linda and Ken helped a lot by providing such great lodging. We love the out-of-the-way location, driving up from the main road reminded me of driving into the hills to your cabin above Gatlinburg - only tropical! Honolulu and "touristy" places aren't really too far away, but far enough away that they don't intrude. We loved being awakened by birdsong, though one morning the spell was broken by a very noisy garbage truck. Never saw the waterfalls, but we heard them one night: we arrived home one stormy day after dark, the waterfalls were thundering out of the mountains. Too bad they were gone before sunrise. Sitting on the lanai watching the birds, flowers, swaying trees, shadows playing on the mountains, wonderful. However, Hawai'i DOES have mosquitoes, "OFF" or citronella candles are a good idea. We also stayed at the owner's Aiea house, also highly recommended!
Owner response:Thank you Dennis and Anita for such a wonderful and descriptive comment. FYI to others I think that they meant they stayed at our other vacation rental (Beachfront Studio) in "Laie" not "Aiea". Aloha Linda, Our first Hawaiian vacation started on a terrific note when we arrived at your "Jurrasic Park" studio. It was roomy, comfortable, clean and very reasonably priced. The gorgeous close-up view of the Ko'olau Mountain range from our deck made our breakfasts so-o-o-o pleasant. We did get 6 thin waterfalls after an overnight rain, so the website pictures were very accurate as was the property description. The rental process was first class from start to finish. We enjoyed our home away from home thoroughly. We enjoyed the easy driving distance to most areas especially the north shore and the Polynesian Cultural Center. We will definitely stay at one of your other rentals in Oahu or The Big Island on our second trip. Mahalo Linda

Thank you for sharing that little bit of heaven. When we think of Hawaii we will think of sitting outside eating dinner and taking in the peace at your place. We loved the Superferry. Seeing the sun come up over Diamond Head was something wonderful. We did not take any sea sickness meds and didn't need them. We are really looking forward to the ride back. If any one asks if they should go I'd say yes. the ferry is very comfortable and you can sit any where, the seating is very comfortable and lots of space for your legs. You can go outside to take pictures. It is a little windy outside by the rails. We took our car, just make sure that it is from an agency they have an agreement with. Have your insurance information, car registration, and rental agreement ready to show them. They check every car so get there early. No access to the cars once the ferry is under way.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Jurassic Park. We found the studio very clean and roomy. We had much more space than a Waikiki hotel room and with free parking! We had a little rain, but we didn't see any waterfalls the first week of April. The view was absolutely gorgeous anyway. It was very rejuvenating to sit on the deck and listen to the breeze and birds. The owners were very responsive to our questions and needs. We felt the unit was advertised very accurately. The only down-side was when we tried to go into the tourist areas; it always took us an hour during rush hour. We loved the studio and would recommend it to others.

Everything I read about the place online and more. Magnificent view, secluded area, private, great yard full of fruit trees and a very well placed hammock to enjoy the scenery. As clean as it gets and close enough to everything you want to do on O'ahu. I already recommended your place to my friends on the mainland. Hope all is well. Happy holidays, Aloha, Eyal

12/4-12/7/06 Jurassic Park totally lived up to its name. We arrived very late on Monday, after the very long place ride from NC. Dark outside, and having no idea what to expect, we unpacked, showered, and managed to leave the back door open to hear a roar from the stream in the back yard as we went to sleep. The next morning, the sun slowly started to make its presence known, as well as the island birds. Our pillows suddenly went from the head of the bed to the foot to see outside. INCREDIBLE!!! The view of this huge Koo'lau Mountain chain was breath taking to be gentle in description. I expected at any moment, either a T Rex or King Kong to walk by. As the sun came up, the mountain because more defined with deep crevices and the most incredible colors of green I have ever seen. (We have been to Ireland, We have seen green) it was truly hard not to just sit all day and watch the shadows and hear the birds. I actually hoped for a driving rain storm to make the waterfalls happen. A great place to start your day with Kona coffee, and just sit outside and plan your activities for the day, or a great place to just sit and watch the world go by. My husband, who in the 25 years I have known him, has never sat still for 5 minutes, actually fell asleep in the hammock outside watching the mountains and listening to the island birds sing to him. It was so very peaceful and surreal. The inside of the studio is great. It has a separate kitchen for cooking meals, to sit out back and have a wonderful meal with the mountains to keep you company. The bathroom was also a good size with a large tile shower with great water pressure. We left Jurassic Park to stay at Linda and Kens Laie Studio up in North Shore area for the rest of our vacation, and never regretted a single thing about staying in either place. The Martins are incredible people and show such genuine concern in every little thing they do, and the rentals do reflect in that. I would highly recommend staying at more than one Martin studio, or house and becoming not so much a tourist, but an islander, because this island gets into your heart and you never want to leave, and when you finally do, you have wonderful memories and pictures, and you learn the true meaning of Aloha. To Linda and Ken, Mahalo. And if you are ever in NC, come visit your new Family here!!!!!

We were so lucky to get so many waterfalls this trip, when we had none the year before. It is too hard to put into words how amazing the view is from the backyard. Even if it is raining, read a book in the hammock under the shelter and have a glass of wine - my favorite! As always, Matt was a great host and enjoyed visiting you at the beach property! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this tucked-away-hideaway. We received VIP treatment by the owners, Linda and Ken Martin. The studio is spacious and has been newly decorated and furnished. The outside deck provides a perfect spot for privacy and sunbathing. Needless to say the view is fantastic. The location is convenient to all parts of the island, especially the North Shore. We highly recommend this affordable choice.

My wife and I were fortunate enough to be the first guests in the newly remodeled studio suite. We found the interior to be tastefully decorated and appointed. In addition it was quite roomy with a great deal of space in the kitchen/dining/children's sleeping area. There was a generous supply of linens and towels, kitchen appliances and cookware... made staying "home" a joy. Our hosts were eager to please and actually went way out of their way to make certain we didn't have any problems finding the location. Ahhh, the location; very central and extremely beautiful! Each morning you'd awake to the sounds of exotic birds and an incredible, majestic view of what seemed to be your own private exotic tropical park and mountains (What they say about the waterfalls is true). To say the least, we would highly recommend these accomodations... Very clean and very well priced!
