This is a three-bedroom, three-full bath home on a barrier island 12 miles from Charleston. It is adjacent to the Intracoastal Waterway and has an extraordinary view of it and adjoining marshes.
The home is very nicely furnished and has a porch, two decks, and a concrete sitting and parking area at the first floor level (the home is on stilts with the living space on the second and third floors). The kitchen, living room, dining room stretch across the entire second floor and are not divided by walls. The kitchen appliances and washer/dryer are modern and the floors are all heart of pine.
The third-acre backyard is a lovely grass lawn bordered on three sides by native shrubs and trees. The neighborhood is quite.

About the owner: I am a law professor at the Charleston School of Law where I teach constitutional law and land use. Previously I was an environmental lawyer. My wife is an archivist working for the College of Charleston. We have a son who is a senior in high school. We live most of the year in downtown Charleston and part of the year at this rental house on Sullivan's Island.
Why the Owner Chose Sullivan's Island: We lived at this property we are now renting for 15 years before we began renting it part of the year. We therefore consider it our home rather than a rental property and have furnished it nicely and maintain it in top condition. The house has large picture windows and French and sliding doors leading to the two decks and front porch to take advantage of the fabulous views. The owner is an avid landscape gardener and in the spring and summer, the large back yard comes alive with native plant growth that screens neighboring properties.
The Unique Benefits at this House: Sullivan's Island is approximately 4 miles long, and is great for biking. With a tiny town center filled with interesting restaurants and a few shops and galleries, it is ideal for a quiet beach vacation. The house is located on what is locally called 'dolphin point', as they are often seen feeding in front of the house on the change of tide.
