You will be very happy if you stay here; I know our family was. The cottage is so comfortable and the owners are super accommodating. Besides that, the location is fabulous: two blocks from the main beach in Laguna, two blocks from wonderful eating and shopping, and a parking spot to boot. Extras: beautiful flowers, cute dog, comfy beds, very nice laundry room, and great water pressure in the shower. (sounds odd but each of my family members commented on that) Don't miss the farmer's market on Saturdays. I intended to stay in Laguna without a car, but that was silly. There are so many beautiful beaches to drive to and wonderful walking trails to explore. I highly recommend the Alta Laguna Park at the Top of the World at the end of Park Avenue. Best view in Orange County I was told. John and Marie's cottage truly felt like a home away from home.

We stayed at the beach house for 8nights from 1st Oct. My wife was thrilled with the property the photos on the website don't do it justice, it's really clean and also far more spacious than it looks. The house is in a great location it's a two minute walk to the beach and town its also got a great kitchen The owners Marie and John live right next door and they are really nice people who will help you with anything you need, if we vacation in southern calfornia again I would stay at their house again without hesitation

We returned to the Marie's cottage this summer and it once again exceeded all expectations. This year we discovered some great programs at the library, which is less than a block away. Our 3 year old loved the story times and activities that took place several times per week. Other observations: (1) July is one of Laguna's hottest months, but the house always felt comfortable. (2) I worked part of the day from the house, and the WiFi connection is strong and reliable. (3) Several good new restaurants have opened within a 5 minute walk of the cottage. The options are endless. (4) We had friends and family staying in other homes nearby, and no one's deal seemed as good as this place.

Recommended for:Families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway.

Perfect home for a family vacation

My wife and I and our two year old son enjoyed a perfect vacation at this cottage. As former residents of Laguna Beach, we know the area well. Marie's cottage is truly in the best possible location. Most of the city's fun activities are centered around Main Beach, which is a short and easy walk. The house was immaculate, and our toddler had plenty of room to run around and play. The inside temperature was neither hot nor cold, and we especially appreciated the reserved parking spot. To give ourselves an occasional break from the beach, we took advantage of several wonderful parks that are nearby. My wife and I have always loved this neighborhood, so we're thrilled that our son enjoyed it as much as we did. We have already told Marie that we'll be returning next year!

Recommended for:Families with young children, tourists without a car.

We have had a fun time staying here this summer (August 2010). The house is immaculate as it says and has every amenity you'll need, and much more. The family next door really make this a home from home and make you feel very welcome. The main centre of Laguna Beach is literally 3 minutes from the front door but the street is quiet and safe. Close by are numerous great restaurants, bars, art galleries and of course the lovely beach. Thoroughly recommend staying here either couples or families - we have 2 children aged 7 & 9 who want us to live here for ever!

I just returned from a great vacation in Laguna Beach, and a stay at this charming bungalow. Marie and John made sure our stay was comfortable, by having everything we needed available at their cottage. The cottage was a perfect size for the four of us, with a large living room for us to spread out in, and was spotless. The location couldn't be any better! It's located in a residential area, a few blocks from town shopping, Main Beach, and a short stroll to many of the other beautiful cove beaches. Ralph's Market, and Whole Foods are a 5 minute drive, or short walk. I hope to return to Laguna Beach soon, and would love to stay again at this wonderful bungalow!

We had a wonderful stay here in March - the weather was a bit cool but beautiful, and there were flowers everywhere! The cottage is in a great location - walk down the street to the beach, or to restaurants, shops, art galleries, Whole Foods, the post office, etc. Marie was very helpful and made some suggestions for locations to hike which we really enjoyed. I wish we could have stayed longer!

What a find in Laguna! Right downtown, and a short walk to Main Beach. John and Marie went out of their way to make our stay as comfortable as possible. Their cottage is immaculate. They pay great attention to little details, such as local grocery store discount cards, wine, candles etc. We can not wait to go back!

We had a wonderful stay at this great find! The location is ideal, we enjoyed the easy access to everything and proximity to the beach. Our family stayed at this wonderful beach house this summer and we can't wait to come back! The house was so beautiful, clean and you just can't beat the location. We want to thank you again for sharing your very special house with us. This is the third year we have rented your great 2 bedroom house. We feel right at home the moment we enter. Your furnishings are always updated, so clean and new, and comfortable. The decor is so welcoming; soft music playing, a beautiful plant on the table. The second bedroom is a big plus for us as we have family in the area. The guest parking is also a plus. We never have to search for a place to park. We enjoy our short little walk to the beach, stores and restaurants each day. The kitchen is fully stocked as well. The books and games you provide are perfect. You have thoughtof everything to make our stay comfortable, relaxing, and fun. Thank you again and see you next year!

When we arrived, the cottage was exactly as described in the listing. Marie stopped by to greet us & to let us know if we needed anything to let her know. The beach chairs & umbrellas were great to have on hand! Our four year old daughter was delighted with the selection of toys & videos provided. We are former residents of Orange County, so we were very familiar with the area. We used to spend almost every Sunday afternoon in Laguna, but what a treat it was to actually feel like residents of the town for a week! Ralph's, Trader Joes, & Gelson's are all very close. We loved being able to walk to dining, the beach, and all of the shops! One evening we were having a group of friends to the cottage for dinner & John and Marie were kind enough to lend us a chair from their own dining table so we would have enough seating! All of our friends were so impressed with the house! In our opinion, if you are staying in the area a week or longer, or traveling with children, the Beresfords cottage is the only way to go! We plan on staying here again next year! By the way, Pomadoro had exceptional Italian food & was very kid friendly!

What can I add that hasn't already been said? And all true! We borrowed bikes, beach chairs, beach toys, sunglasses! from John and Marie -- both were incredible hosts. The cottage is just adorable - just enough space for our family of four. (Our daughter slept in the living room to stay away from her brother). A generously stocked vidio and reading library was a nice added benefit. The ability to walk to get a coffee, dinner, breakfast, Whole Foods, art galleries, dinner, was great -- and Trader Joe's is just a short drive away for less expensive, healthy foods and wines. We hiked on mountains and in canyons, with views of the ocean, in the mornings (we went to three different parks) and to the beach or shopping most afternoons. The weather was the best it can be in June - sunny and dry and 70-80F. Heaven!

Perfect location, and a great 1930-ish cottage for a single family. John & Marie went out of their way to help us with some terrific amenities (Pack-n-Play, beach chairs, etc.) and were wonderful hosts -- finding the right blend of offering help, while staying clear to afford us privacy in enjoying the cottage. The outside street sees alot of traffic, but the walk to Main Beach and downtown shops is just fantastic, and well worth the traffic. The street parking reserved for us worked fine too. Kitchen was well stocked with pans/cooking implements, to allow us easy use of the kitchen. House is really perfect for single family. Would definitely go back again. Be sure to hit the Ralphs Supermarket -- open 24 hours (would have saved us alot of time on 1st day, when we were roaming looking for groceries the evening of our first visit). In all - a great place. Definitely stay there is you're interested in a quality LB scene.

We had such an awesome time staying at the Beresford's cottage! You couldn't ask for a better location, a better home, or better hosts. We stayed for a month, and hardly needed our car. If you're looking for a place that is close to downtown Laguna, and Main Beach, this cottage is it! It's the perfect size for a family of 4. I could go on and on about the Beresford family, but suffice it to say they went over and above on a daily basis. We will definitely stay here again, and add to the positive memories already made!

This is a terrific rental in Laguna Beach. Marie and John are very accommodating and friendly. The house is cute, clean and close to shops, restaurants, and a running path near the beach. There were fresh tulips in the living room. My two teenage kids and I were there the week of March 17. Just the right size place for us. Much better than a hotel.

Our family of four (2.5 year old and 4 month old) spent three weeks at this house and it was great! The house was a perfect size for our family and my sister-in-law stayed with us for a few days. The location is excellent because you are two blocks from the beach with a nice play structure and one block from downtown Laguna Beach but you are in a nice neighborhood. The owners live next door and are so accomodating and friendly. There are a lot of extra nice touches like the porch swing, fruit bowl, wine rack, kids movie selection, beach gear, and two parking spaces. We love this beach house and will definitely be back.

What a great vacation! The cottage is very clean and nicely decorated. The location is fantastic. A very short walk to main beach and to town. Also, a great view of the sunset over main beach just outside. The owners truly care about their guests comfort and have a lot of nice little touches like toys for kids, maps, informaiton about Laguna, a great movie / book selection, oranges on the table, etc. I would highly recomend it and it will be my first choice when I return to Laguna.

This cottage is truly a great find! We just returned from a one week stay with our teenaged kids and we all had a blast! The cottage is extremely clean, comfortable and well equipped. It is close to the beach, shops and restaurants, galleries etc. It even has parking which is a bonus in Laguna! The Beresfords are very accomodating and made us feel very welcome. We all loved this cottage and would definitely stay here when visiting Laguna (one of our favourite destinations!)

Our stay at the Beresfords beach cottage was one the best family vactions we have ever had. The Beresford's cottage is the perfect place to experience Laguna Beach. Nicely decorated, roomy and comfortable - everything you need to make your stay hassle-free is available. The Beresfords really are the best (their two friendly Labradors are an added bonus!). The Main Beach, Heisler Park, restaurants, art galleries, coffee shops (even the library and Post Office) are all within walking distance and the Saturday morning Farmer's Market is a wonderful treat! We enjoyed every minute of our stay and are already making plans for next year! What a blessing - thanks so much!

We had an amazing stay at the Beresford's cottage. It far exceeded our expectations! The cottage is very clean and welcoming, and John and Marie are more than accomodating! We would recommend this cottage for a short or extended stay to anyone going to Laguna Beach! You can't beat the location! Only 2 blocks to the beach and town, and the view from the front porch is impeccable! We walked to the beach, and all over town. The ability to prepare your own meals, make your own coffee, etc... leaves far better memories than any hotel! Of course the local cuisine is a wonderful choice and is only steps away, no worry about parking! I am new to the vacation rental industry, and I took many notes from Beresford's as to how I want my future guests to feel when they stay at one of my rentals!!!!

We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Beresfords' Laguna Beach cottage. The house is adorable, with all of the amenities (including beach gear and toys for kids); it's on a busy street, but the noise is well worth the convenience of being just two blocks from town; and Marie & family make sure that everything is perfect for a great stay (topped off with two sweet labradors in the backyard!). This charming house was the perfect place to unwind while still being very convenient (walking distance) to the wonderful restaurants and beaches at Laguna Beach. All the amenities of home (kitchen, generous TV, and even bathrobes) with a true vacation feel. Just close enough to the main attractions with none of the hustle and bustle. Plan your arrivals and departures to avoid the day beach visitors using Rte. 133 Sat and Sun mornings (inbound) and evenings (outbound). This property is a gem as are the Beresford's. Can't wait to visit again (and again).

I spent the month of February at the Beresford's charming cottage, and it was a wonderful experience!! The Beresford's are great hosts, who are there to answer your every question of need. The cottage is the perfect location--just a short walk to Main Beach and downtown for shopping and gourmet eatting. Watching the sun go down behind Catalina Island from the front porch was definitely a bonus! I'm looking forward to returning next year!!

We just recently returned from a fabulous spring break vacation in Laguna Beach. This quaint cottage is a wonderful place to stay, if you are planning a trip to the OC. Besides the fact that we could watch wonderful sunsets right outside our front porch, the main beach (and the heart of downtown) was just a short walk away. John and Marie were great hosts and made us feel at home. The worst part about staying there was that we had to leave! We can't wait to come back and would wholeheartedly recommend this Laguna Beach gem to anyone!
