Mount Pleasant cottage description
Coleman Cottage is in the middle of everything wonderful that Charleston has to offer. This beautifully appointed home is located in the heart of the historic area of the Old Village. This is a charming neighborhood within 10 minutes of beaches and historic downtown Charleston. You are minutes from the restaurants on Sullivan's Island or gourmet dining in downtown Charleston.
This historic home has quite a history! It has been moved twice and was owned by the late Mt. Pleasant Mayor Francis Coleman. Beautifully renovated in 2007, it has hardwood floors, a designer kitchen with marble countertops and top of the line appliances, and a lovely bedroom and bath. It was part of the Old Village House and Garden tour in 2010.
If you are headed to the beaches, you can choose Sullivan's island or the Isle of Palms. Both have beautiful strands of pristine beaches.
You can walk down to the Pitt Street center for an ice cream cone or shopping. The Pitt Street bridge is a great walk to go crabbing or catch a fish.
Alhambra Hall is a mile away and has a park and views of the Charleston Harbor.
There are many restaurants within walking distance of this house so you can dine and relax on the Shem Creek waterfront and watch the boats and dolphins.
You can also walk to Shem Creek to charter a fishing boat, rent a kayak or paddle board or buy some fresh seafood from Mt. Pleasant Seafood.
The Memorial Waterfront Park is at the base of the Ravenel Bridge. Here you can park to walk the bridge for spectacular views of the city or walk along the pier.
Just a short drive from the house is Historic Downtown Charleston. There are so many wonderful things to do: historic homes, a horse and buggy tour, some of the best restaurants in the country - too many things to name!
The owner is more than happy to answer any questions or just point you in the right direction. This is a town that you will love!

A hidden gem!!
A hidden gem!!
Let me start by saying I have rented many houses via VRBO. This is the only one where I feel led to give a review. The owner was extremely kind and able to be flexible with our needs. She exhibited true southern hospitality. The house is located in the middle of it all, however, you have NO idea you are in the middle. Everything about the home was wonderful, charming and peaceful. We were torn on staying and enjoying the house or walking to the many restaurants and activities nearby. You are within easy walking distance to Shem Creek, Okra Grill, Shelter, Old Post Office Restaurant, a gas station for sundries, and many more. The home has TONS of history and it was so neat to be a part of that. Everything was perfect, to the last detail. If you are looking for a place in Mt. Pleasant, you found it!!

Better than home
Better than home
We stayed here in April of last year and found it to be the perfect home away from home-in fact it was better than home. The location is wonderful as one can stroll the streets of the Old Village, head to Sullivans for a walk on the beach or enjoy a walk over the Ravenel bridge with its marvelous views of the city. Just minutes from downtown Charleston and all of the wonderful sights, shops and restaurants there, it was wonderful to cross over the Cooper River and return to our little piece of paradise away from the crowd. Everything about the home is wonderful from the welcoming front porch complete with a hammock to the gourmet kitchen to the fabulous spa bath and luxurious bedroom. No detail has been overlooked! This truly is the best place to stay in all of the Charleston area!

We were a little torn about staying in a home vs hotel but loved the idea of having more space. This did not disappoint!! The cottage is lovely and in a great location - midway between beaches and downtown. The home is very charming yet has all the modern ammenities one would want. The kitchen is state of the art. We had a great time cooking our shrimp and relaxing after touring the city. If you want to go out for dinner, The Old Post House is a couple of blocks away and we ate at the back bar. Very nice and great food! The owner goes out of her way to make sure everything is perfect. There is even an honor bar for beer and cocktails!! Reminded me of Europe. Great place and location. Hurry to Charleston!!

About the owner: I have lived in the Charleston area for over 30 years. Having lived in the Historic Downtown and the Old Village, I have a special appreciation for the beauty of this area. Right now I spend most of my time in another state, so I love to introduce visitors to my wonderful city. You may also meet Priscilla, the cat, who comes and goes on the porch. She is very shy and loves her neighborhood and yard.
