We had a fantastic Easter holiday at this beach house. The photos and descriptions are very accurate. The house is brand new so everything is very clean and the beds and baths were awesome! Being right on the oceanfront was amazing for the kids, they could play on the beach and the adults were close enough sitting on the patio for supervising. During the beach walks when the tide was out we saw over 60 starfish! The house has everything we needed for a large family. The laundry was a great feature, as well as the added touch of having cloth grocery bags hanging in the front closet. We enjoyed using the kayak and the bikes that are available too! Many evenings were spent lounging around the fireplace watching the ferries come and go. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone. Su was so helpful in all our questions and transactions.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers.

If you want a breath taking view and to be spoiled in this fabulous house this is the place for you. We had a girlfriend 5 day getaway and Su arranged a wonderful spa day for us brought right to the house. This house is perfect for getting together with families or friends. All you need to bring is your suitcase as everything plus a little more is provided for you home away from home. You will not want to leave. We will definitely be back.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.

Departure Bay Beach House has made it on our list of places to stay on Vancouver Island. We were thrilled that the house showed just as it was advertised, although pictures can't do justice to the views. This is a beach house in that it is situated directly on the beach - but the house itself is sophisticated, well-appointed, and neat as a pin (it's newly built). We arrived to expansive views in a designer house and found ourselves calling it home for 3 nights. We made good use of the large kitchen. Lots of dishes and utensils made for easy cooking. Nights were spent enjoying the warmth of the fireplaces while sipping wine and chatting. The upstairs family room made for great relaxation, just looking out over the bay and watching the ferries and planes. Bedrooms are over sized with comfortable beds, TVs, and plenty of storage. Bathrooms are new and fresh with lots of designer touches. Our family used the 3 days to catch up with friends, play games, and basically unwind and relax. Truly a great getaway and so close to everything! And if we had a question, the property manager was easy to reach and provided a wealth of information about the area, restaurants and shopping. There were no hiccups with reservations, arrival or departure. We look forward to our next holiday in Nanaimo, this time with friends. This property is special.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

A home that made ??us happy, and our children and grandchildren during the two weeks of our stay in Nanaimo. Modern interior, spacious with all the amenities for a unique experience in family. Not to mention the breathtaking view as the ground floor to the first floor, on Departure Bay with its unforgettable sunrises. External works are beautiful and in harmony with nature and the ocean. The owners are very attentive to our needs. Our desire is to stay there as often as possible. Again, a great place that we highly recommend! Une maison qui nous a rendus heureux, ainsi que nos enfants et petits-enfants, pendant les deux semaines de notre séjour à Nanaimo. Un intérieur moderne, spacieux, avec toutes les commodités pour vivre une expérience unique en famille. C'est sans parler de la vue exceptionnelle tant au rez-de-chaussée qu'à l'étage, sur Departure Bay avec ses levers de soleils inoubliables. Les aménagements extérieurs sont superbes et en harmonie avec la nature et l'océan. Les propriétaires sont vraiment à l'écoute de nos besoins. Notre souhait est d'y séjourner le plus souvent possible. We were about the first to stay at this stunning house. We loved the place. Spacious and relaxed; well equipped kitchen and perfect tools. Fascinating views. Especially the sunrise. Take a coffee mug, a blanket and just stare... We felt warmly welcomed by the owners representative who helped us with all kinds of tips and hints for the island. Coming from Europe, we were very grateful for all the assistance, far beyond what we could expect. Perfect. Instead of travelling by car or motor home, we had decided to stay at one place and do day tours from there. This house was perfect for our way of travelling during that fall. Coming "home" at night gave us a nice, relaxed chance of reflecting the day. We would love to come again.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, people with disabilities, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.

About the owner: This custom built home is owned by our family. It was custom designed and built by one of Nanaimo's most well-respected builders. It sits on the site of one of the original Departure Bay summer cottages built circa 1900. The original wood-frame summer cottage was not salvageable, and so, in 2012, a custom designed house was built on the site. Lots of history. Brand new luxury home.
