An Ideal Waterfront Location
Departure Bay is short distance from shopping and dining with a number of restaurants within walking distance of the house. Nanaimo is a thriving community of parks, beaches, charming eclectic shops, waterfront walks, marinas and myriad dining choices from fine to casual, plus all the modern convenience needed for an enjoyable stay. These include grocery stores, gas stations, libraries, theatres, restaurants and delis, specialty food shops, spas, doctors and dentists, massage therapists and beauty salons.
The city of Nanaimo sits mid-Island and is a central arrival and departure point for BC Ferries to the BC Mainland. There is also an airport, or you can come and go via seaplane (Harbour Air, Seair Seaplanes or Westcoast Air) into Nanaimo Harbour from downtown Vancouver or Vancouver International Airport. The seaplane trip is only 20 minutes!
The TransCanada Highway (Hwy #1) runs directly through the heart of Nanaimo. From here you can venture north to Mount Washington, Courtenay and Comox, west to Tofino or south to the Cowichan Valley and Victoria.

About the owner: This custom built home is owned by our family. It was custom designed and built by one of Nanaimo's most well-respected builders. It sits on the site of one of the original Departure Bay summer cottages built circa 1900. The original wood-frame summer cottage was not salvageable, and so, in 2012, a custom designed house was built on the site. Lots of history. Brand new luxury home.
