What a wonderful place for a weekend away. It took us only 90 minutes to reach the house, and when we did, what a pleasant surprise. Unassuming from the outside, the house is very well-appointed within. Our large family gathering were made quite comfortable, and we were so happy to find a place that welcomed our children. The views are impossible to beat, and we kept finding ourselves simply standing and staring out at the water. We sat on the deck constantly, and we even got to make a fire on the beach and make s'mores. The older kids were in heaven. Thus we had an incredible time. After we got home our eldest realized that she had left a very expensive item back at the house. I did not want to drive all the way back with kids, so I emailed the owners. They went out, hunted down the item, and mailed it back to us. Our heroes! We will absolutely go again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thank you for a wonderful stay at your amazing beach house, we had an absolutely stellar time. Upon arriving we were immediately taken back by the beauty of the area. With the estuary right out front and the beach out back we were offered amazing views without leaving the house. We watched the resident eagle fly overhead throughout the day, and a family of geese go about their business. The Kitchen was very well equipped and we made some fantastic meals both in the kitchen and on the gas grill while there. We can’t say enough about the sunset, watching the sun sink into the distance gave us pause. With the water as the backyard it felt like we were on a boat anchored just off shore. One of the highlights was enjoying a bonfire on the beach and stargazing on a clear night. While there seemed to be plenty to do in the surrounding area we had no desire to leave. Hanging out at the house and on the beach was a perfectly relaxing retreat with plenty for the kids, adults, and our dog to do.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

Thank you Chuck and Karen for making your wonderful beach house available to us over the holiday weekend. My wife and I are from Seattle and did not expect how relaxing and recharging a quick weekend getaway to Whidbey Island could be. The house was wonderful and I enjoyed sitting on the deck at sunrise, during the day, and at sunset. You can say that I was a permanent fixture on the deck in your comfy adirondack chairs. I also enjoyed your Roku and Pandora entertainment systems. We were able to relax to some "island music". The views from your living room are amazing. At high tide it was like being on cruise ship with the waves crashing just 10' away from the deck. I can imagine that your house would be the perfect vantage point to catch a late summer/fall storm from. I left some rock cairns near the deck...and a little fire ring (not used)...hopefully they'll last until our next visit or maybe future visitors can leave their own too. We'll definitely be back!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car.

Had the most amazing time at this house over the winter break. The house is literally ON the BEACH, and you can walk for miles in both directions. Our kids collected shells and rocks, and we took amazing pictures of the birds (multiple eagle sightings!) and wildlife (seals). Can't wait to return, will definitely do that soon.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

The West Beach House on Oak Harbor was a great place for my best friends and I to stay and relax. The pictures on this site don't even begin to show the beauty of this house and the extent the owners took to make it a gorgeous and comfortable retreat. The house was very clean, the beds are top of the line and the view was breathtaking. Think Restoration Hardware meets Williams Sonoma but not in a stuffy or pretentious way. The house exceeded our expectations and had everything we needed. Oak Harbor is a short drive away to grab last minute supplies. We were lulled to sleep every night by the sound of the ocean. I would recommend this property to friends/family and hope to visit again soon.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

I recently spent three nights at the West Beach House! We enjoyed a quiet celebration on my father's 75th birthday - it was a very special event and a perfect place to spend it! We happened to hit it as a a nice Pacific storm was blowing through the area - it was exciting as the waves crashed just off the deck at high tide (this is generally a calm body of water in front of the house)! The views from the main level living areas as well as from two of the upstairs bedrooms are spectacular - unobstructed to the water! The house is extremely well equipped for a rental house! We ate most of our meals in and never felt we needed any additional anything in the kitchen!! The beds/furniture and finishes of this house are all first rate! The weather did not stop us from enjoying the trails in the State Park nearby and exploring Langley, Coupeville, Deception Pass and Anacortes. Spending time at this house anytime of the year would be awesome - we loved it!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Our family of 6 stayed at the house for a week in August. The weather was beautiful, the blackberries were coming on and the scenery was spectacular! The house had a great layout, very spacious and the location right on the beach was ideal. This end of the island was perfect for long walks on the beach, no traffic to speak of and huge views all around. One nice surprise was the open space on the mainland side of the house, with rural farmhouses and natural fields. A wonderful respite from city life! We had a wonderful and relaxing time at the West Beach House. The beach is RIGHT THERE! The kids had a great time digging in the sand and throwing rocks in the water. We took long walks on the beach and had relaxing meals on the deck. There is even a fire pit for s'mores. Groceries are 10 minutes away, playground is a 5 minute drive. Everyone had a great time and the house is very comfortable. We'd definitely recommend this well maintained and well supplied home. Thank you!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

Owner info
About the owner: Chuck and Karen have lived in Seattle, Washington for over 20 years. We love Washington, our new beach house, and the San Juan Islands. We bought the house to enjoy with our family and friends and to escape the daily demands of the city. We walk on the beach to the State Park that is less than 1/2 mile away, catch our own Crab and just hang out in doors with a warm fire. We share the house with our friends and family, and now with you, and yours! We realized that we were working too hard and wanted to slow down and enjoy life. We looked for over a year before buying our West Beach House. It has been one of the best decisions we've ever made have no regrets.
Why the Owner Chose Oak Harbor:
The beach and house are spectacular and we loved its proximity to Coupeville, Deception Pass, and Ebey's Landing.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
From East to West, the House is nestled between the Pacific ocean and a natural wetlands preserve with plenty of eagles, beautiful birds, and otters. From North to South is the Olympic Peninsula and the gateway to Canada.
