The location is ideal--situated between Siesta Key (a 5 mile drive) with it's world famous white sand beach (recently voted the best in the country!) and it's quaint 'Village' shopping area filled with casual dining places and pubs, and Lido Key, (a 6 mile drive) equally famous for St. Armand's Circle with it's many upscale shops and restaurants.
Your vacation home was built in the 1920's, but has been totally renovated inside in a contemporary style, while maintaining it's cottage charm on the outside. The new kitchen cabinets and appliances include a refrigerator with an ice-maker & filtered water, built-in microwave and a dishwasher. It is fully equipped with all sorts of utensils, dishes, glassware, pots and pans and small appliances--everything you need if you enjoy cooking! The bath is newly renovated with ample storage and new fixtures. The bedroom is large and features a queen-sized bed with storage drawers beneath, a four drawer dresser, and mirrored closet space with plenty of hangers. The open living/dining area is spacious and inviting with leather couch, wicker side chairs, large coffee table, and a dining table that accommodates four comfortably.
The space also contains a work station computer area with two seats and built-in WiFi. All floors are solid, eco-friendly bamboo wood--except for the bath which is tiled. There is a fenced-in private rear yard with a gas grill for outdoor barbecues, table and chairs for dining, and a washer/dryer in a separate building. The small private front porch with it's two chairs & table is a delightful spot to relax at the end of a busy day.
The street location is extremely quiet, despite it's close proximity to all types of interesting diversions. There is a wonderful public park just a 2 minute walk away from you. It is loaded with amenities such as an Olympic-sized swimming pool, 4 tennis courts, indoor & outdoor basketball courts, a vibrant open pickle ball league ,fitness center, and waking/jogging trails.
You are one mile to the Southside Village which has many diverse restaurants, pubs and Morton's Market, a gourmet grocery store with fresh produce and ready-made items to take out, and also a very tempting bakery. Your other option for groceries is Publix, a fully stocked supermarket just 1 1/2 miles away.
Downtown Main Street, again with a wide selection of diverse restaurants, shops, and nightlife is 2 miles from your doorstep, and it is only three miles to the downtown waterfront with boat rentals, park, and two restaurants with waterfront dining (a casual outdoor one, and one a bit more 'fancy' called Marina Jack's which also has a dinner sunset cruise boat). Golfers will have the choice of a dozen well-maintained courses, all in a 10 to 30 minute drive. There are also two executive courses (18 hole, par 3 shorter courses)--one a 5 minute drive the other only 10.

We are located in a residential area across from a public park containing two swimming pools, 4 tennis courts, indoor and outdoor basketball, walking trails, and a dog park area. We are one mile from a village area with several restaurants and and pubs, just two miles from a major shopping mall. Award winning Siesta Key beach is 5.5 miles.

About the owner: My wife and I are both former teachers, originally from New Jersey, and have been living in Sarasota for over 30 years where we are currently running a construction remodeling company. (My family was in that business and it was my summer job since I was old enough to help mix cement). We love to travel and always use VRBO to find great lodging.
Why the Owner Chose Southgate: We purchased our first Sarasota home in the 1980's in this area and found the neighborhood to be a most versitile location. It is a short drive to Siesta and Lido Keys with great beaches and restaurants; it's near downtown with all its entertainment options and shopping; and it it is a short distance to many golf courses.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment: Being in the remodeling business, we found this home to be ideal for upgrades. The contemporary look we added to the inside is surprising compared to the old Florida feeling of the design. The park across the street is City-run and has free tennis courts, basket ball courts, swimming , walking trails, and a free-weights gym if one gets the urge to pump iron.
