Our family reunion was a week long success. We rented three homes in CDA. (This one was the best). Thirty-three showed up from all over the U.S. (Cleveland, Ohio, Moose Lake, MN, Carrollton, TX, Provo, UT, Seattle, WA, Emmett, ID, Boise, ID, and Idaho Falls, ID). We had 12 great-grandchildren, 8 grandchildren with spouses, one guest, and two of our five children and spouses. It was a great time for all of us. Grandpa and Grandma are very proud of our family and were happy to visit and play with all of them. We saw an eagle and osprey fall into the water right by the new dock, caught a fish and take off again. (That was the first day!). Friday night a BAT visited us ( and we let him or her out the door!). We will remember this trip for a long time! A hammock on the porch and I could call this place Heaven! Ps. A couple more dish towels would make my husband’s job easier.

Thanks for letting us use your house! We had fun fishing, playing pool and inner tubing. We got to see my uncle run, swim and bike in the Ironman. We also almost caught the biggest catfish I have ever seen. So when I was inner tubing or swimming, I was scared. We have seen many animals like catfish, beaver, turkeys, geese, ducks, elk and deer. You have amazing birds here like Falcons, Hawks, Heron, Bald Eagles and Hummingbirds. Every night we would go and stand near the water and four hummingbirds would come really close and almost land on us!!

Thank you so much for your great lake house. Imagine my surprise when finding the perfect house online and finding that we know the owner! Must have been meant to be! I had been trying to find a way for the entire family to stay together for our little one’s first b-day and your home was perfect! We had family from Redmond, OR, Forks, WA and us from here in Spokane. We had fun playing on the lake, playing pool, playing games and just spending time together. Again, thank you so much for providing your home!

We totally enjoyed your home. We had many good meals and a few card games to enjoy. We would come again when the weather is better for a few golf games. We did play the Scotch Tasting Open at the Casino Golf Course. . . FUN but Cold!

Labor Day Weekend 2009 What a wonderful way to spend our family vacation. Beautiful views, quiet atmosphere and excellent fun. Westway House was truly a home away from home for all of our extended family. Having two families come together with six children all under the age of 12 means that vacations can be hectic. Our experience here truly made our trip an enjoyable, peaceful time together.

Thank you for the wonderful stay! Love the décor and all of the interesting lamps (especially the gorilla lamp). The little beach was great for the little kids, and we had fun making smores. Played lots of pool, had lots of great dinners and a terrific family time. A vacation to remember!

This was our first trip to the Idaho area. It was great! We found Westway House to be the perfect place to stay. The furnishings and decor are attractive, fun and comfortable. The view of the Bay from the front deck is beautiful. We were located close to both downtown and several delicious restaurants. Thanks for sharing your home. Although our stay was short, we had a wonderful time!

Charming home with great amenities. The view from the deck is spectacular in the mornings and evenings. The living areas are spacious and have a great cabin feeling. We particularly enjoyed the pool table and wet bar. Thanks for keeping such a clean and well kept lake house. P.S. The water was crisp and pure. I drank straight from the faucet! Thanks again! I hope to return soon!!

My husband and I stayed at this beautiful home recently, and were quite pleased with the experience. From the decor to the views everything is as described if not better. The amenities were thoughtful and well appointed; the beds and bedding were comfortable and the entire home is clearly spotlessly maintained. We loved the quiet neighborhood and felt like we were in our own home! We would certainly stay here again and look forward to our next vacation during the fall of 09 to enjoy the changing colors and crisp autumn mornings on the lake.

July 23, 2009 For years we have worn our beach trip hats Never before have we shared it with bats! Of course it would happen to the one who screams loud But she slept there next night, of that we are proud. When the oven failed to light And threatened our dinner that night, We called on our cell, John and his brave Southern Belle, In no time they set it to right! The wildlife we saw inspired our awe, No comfort was spared, which tells us you cared. The house all in all, made this beach trip a ball! Spokane Valley gal and her Oregon buddies

Thank you for a lovely time! Our time together was special. Life is full of moments. Our time here was almost perfect, until Uncle Doug burned the hamburgers! The house was very lovely! We enjoyed all the games and all of the girls worked on the puzzle until the wee hours of the morning. Great time with family. We look forward to our visit here next year. Thank you for starting our family tradition. Bakerfield, CA and Spokane Valley, WA

I thoroughly enjoyed your lake house! The views in the mornings and evenings are spectacular from the deck. In fact, we often ate dinner outside. The details give a rustic but very comfortable stay, and we truly felt at home for our entire trip. We rented a kayak from the city, and used your dock for the evening. Also, the pool table area with wet bar entertained us at night. Thanks for keeping up such a great vacation home!! I hope to be back soon and bring more friends from back east. P.S. The water was great! Drank straight from the faucet all week. Thanks again!

The house was nice and the lake was beautiful, BUT the water in the house stunk so bad it made everyone nauseous. Everytime we ran the water whether it was the shower, sink, toilet, dishwasher or washing machine, the smell stunk up the entire house like sulfar! Unfortunately, this is what we will remember the most about this place. For the amount of money it cost to rent, we were very disappointed. We will definitely go back to CDL but will be hesitant to rent from HomeAway. We had a blast on the water and enjoyed the lakeside restaurants: Eddies, Carlos, and The Beachouse!
Owner response:New State of the Art Filtration System Coming August 08 In response to Review # 115546, the kind comments about the house and the lake are appreciated. As owners, we regret that your stay was adversely affected by the odor of the water. We feel that if there had been an attempt by the guests to contact the Property Manager, it would have allowed us to resolve the problem immediately. No call was made to our Property Manager at any time during their 5-day stay. Our vacation rental has been booked solid every summer for the past 4 years, with not one single complaint. While there may have been an occasional variation in the water quality, there have been no water quality complaints prior to Review # 115546. In an effort to understand why the water quality would have suddenly changed, we were informed that it could have been due to the record snowfall in the Coeur d'Alene area this winter. Water levels rose to a record high as the snow melted, and may have adversely affected those homes in close proximity to the lake that rely on well water. Variations in water quality are also inherent to most lake homes. The current water system relies on an inline filter that is changed regularly and a water softener. It has sufficed for many years. However, to ensure this issue never impacts future guests, we are investing in a new WaterRight self-sanitizing treatment system paired with a Mixed Zoelite filtration system, to be installed in August. 2008. While we regret that one of our guests had an unpleasant experience, we hope this improvement will increase the enjoyment of our lake home for future guests.

I have stayed at this property more than once (before and after the water fix - which did solve the 'scent' problem) and both times I was equally happy with the accomodations and beautiful, serene surroundings. It has been thoughtfully furnished and you can tell the owners really take pride in their property. The pool table/game room is great for group socializing while the huge deck is perfect for snuggling up with a book in the shade or laying out in the sun to work on your tan. Their dock is also a great spot to sit and dangle your feet in the water or even fish if the mood strikes. This is an "off the beaten path" type location where a person can really unwind and enjoy the sounds of the wind in the trees without the distractions a place closer to town might have. That being said, downtown Coeur 'd Alene is merely a 10 minute drive away where boutique type shopping and dining can be found. All in all I'd have to rate this place as one of my favorite destinations because I can have a quiet, rustic getaway at the house and go out for a day on the town whenever I feel like it.
