Thank you, Lenae and Lori, for letting us stay at your place on the Northshore. What a great opportunity for us to have a place on the ocean, even if it was just for a short time. Sitting on the deck, drinking our coffee and listening to the waves was paradise. The house is well-maintained and has everything needed for a comfortable stay. The photos on your site accurately represented the house. Very easy access to Wi-Fi. Plenty of dishes, pots, etc. for cooking. Our weather didn't cooperate very well so it was nice to have the covered deck allowing us to sit outside while waiting for the rain to pass. It was also nice to have a grocery store close for the days we cooked in and the Turtle Bay Hilton when we wanted to eat out. Mahalo

This listing and the additional photo site are absolutely accurate. The owners keep their home exceptionally clean, and are extremely helpful and reply promptly with any question a vacationer might have. The home is secluded, fenced, and the yard well maintained. We were here for ten wonderful days. The kitchen has everything you would need (we cooked half the time). The Wi-Fi connection is solid and the entertainment center has everything anyone would desire. With a vehicle and GPS, you can reach any of the many beautiful locations on the island. We stayed away from the commerical Waikiki but do not miss Diamond Head and Ala Moana Park very close by. If you are into surfing, you are minutes away from the most famous surf breaks in the world - Sunset Beach, the Pipeline, and Waimea Bay with the historical Haleiwa town. The Polynesian Cultural Center is very close by for a Luau and/or learning about native culture. We leave tomorrow and are not thrilled about returning to our hectic corporate jobs - at least we had ten days in PARADISE!

Our stay at Kawela Kai was wonderful! We stayed here for our second anniversary. We live on the island and are very familiar with many of the locations on Oahu and we were so surprised to find such a beautiful, quite and secluded slice of paradise still available on the island! If you are looking for a secluded and romantic location, this is it! Lori and Lanae's cottage is simple, pleasant and clean. It is not as elaborate as some places we looked at, but it was very functional, livable and very, very clean! Even the windows were spotless! The location is nice and remote and has an awesome view of the ocean! The steps down to the beach are navigational but if you were an older person I think it would be difficult to manage the steep grade. The outdoor shower is absolutely fantastic and was used a great deal by both of us! We loved it. And we loved the 'turtle motif' on the wall. There really isn't anything negative I can say about this adorable 2 bedroom cottage other than the road noise can be bothersome. That was my only complaint but there is nothing that the owners can do about that. However, the owners were upfront about the road noise so we were prepared for it. However, if you take into consideration this awesome location and the gorgeous view you can forget about road noise...especially if you have a glass of wine on the lanai! :) Lori and Lanae were both very prompt and curteous. We've rented places before and I have to say they have been the best owners to work with. They are very prompt in their response and honnest and forthright about all their dealings. I would recommend Kawela Kai for a romantic getaway and really for anybody looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. We will be recommending this place to our cousin that is coming to visit this summer with his adult children. They will LOVE this location!

Thank you so very much for a great stay at Kewela Kai. The house was very clean, well kept and furnished-loved the newly remodeled bathroom! The view from the lanai is everything it is advertised to be. We stayed a week and it was so nice to have a great comfortable house to come "home" to every night to relax, chill and generally hang out. We used the laundry room more than once which was a nice modern washer and dryer. Only suggestion would be a light in the wash shed since it gets dark so early this time of year. If there was one we couldn't find it. We could go on and on about our time in Hawaii and being able to stay here but there are only so many characters available. THANK YOU Lenae and Lori for truly providing a home away from home while on vacation. Aloha and Ma halo. p.s. My O.C.D. got the best of me and I had to clean and organize the basket of snorkeling equipment. :) I hope the other guests continue to take care of this much appreciated equipment.

Came here after three days in Waikiki and truly felt we'd found paradise. We loved the house and its location for proximity to all we wanted to see on the North Shore. The Lanai is essentially where we 'lived' during our visit. Viewing turtles floating in the water as I write this review FROM THE LANAI! Beds were comfy. Everything as described. Plenty of accoutrements. The outdoor shower was a welcome friend as we returned from swimming with the turtle just down the road at Laniakea Beach (fantastic). Sunset Beach is nearby as is Ted's Bakery (and for the addicts: a Starbucks just a couple minutes away at Foodland). Beautiful little lizards coloring the evening were great too! Our family of four all worry that now we will be spoiled for future stays because no other accommodation will be able to hold up to our new standard. Again, this review is written from the Lanai as we are leaving in the morning. We are sad to be leaving. Thanks! From Washington (the state).

Thank You for a fantastic stay. Your home is a perfect get-a-way. The lanai was our favorite spot with beautiful views, soothing sounds from the waves and the sights of turtles. Location was just right far enough away from crowds but close enough to beaches and snorkeling. We did not want to leave but we figured we needed to, because the next renters were coming. This stay will be something we will remember forever. The listing and photos was accurate, the home was clean and well stocked. We got all the questions answered in fast and timley matter. Just perfect :) Thank You Again

We found this to be a perfect North Shore rental for our family. Owners were great to work with and the property was just as advertised. Clean, well-maintained, well-appointed. Covered deck and ocean-front yard were awesome amenities that you just won't find at any Waikiki hotel. Good location for exploring the North Shore. Highly recommended and we would definitely stay again.

Our friends, my husband, and I enjoyed your home for a couple of days in March. All I can say is that all of us wished we were there for a couple of weeks rather than a couple of days. We loved it! The surf was really up when we arrived, and we were just amazed at the sight from your porch. The home was quite comfortable and had everything we needed. If we go back to Oahu (which may happen in the not too distant future), we will definitely look at renting here again.

The photos and description were most accurate. The covered front porch is AWESOME with expansive views of the ocean where we watched whales each day. The house is very well-equipped with everything you could need during your stay. The owners were extremely prompt in answering questions throughout the rental/departure process. It is well located for doing whatever you would want to do. The Turtle Bay Resort is one mile up the road and we learned you can secure a FREE parking pass to enjoy the beach where they have a protected snorkeling area. We also like to walk a few miles each day and this was a lovely place to do that. We had a wonderful time!

Lenae and Lori, we had a wonderful visit in Hawaii and a very comfortable stay in your rental for our short visit this October. Your pictures and description fit very well. The sunsets were gorgeous from your back yard! We enjoyed walking along the ocean front near your property and the sandy beach wasn't far. It was very relaxing to sit on the back porch or in the back yard and just watch or listen to the ocean. We didn't get to see any whales from your property on this visit, but did watch a kayaker going back and forth! We spent a lot of time at Shark's Cove and Waimea Bay, but also enjoyed other beaches just a short drive away. We noticed they were setting up for surfing competitions at Sunset Beach, but our stay was too short to be there for that. Enjoyed our first attempts at snorkeling this visit to Hawaii which was a lot of fun! It was exciting to see such beautiful ocean life! We saw very beautiful fish, an eel, turtles and much more! Just wish we hadn't run out of time to do more of that. We look forward to visiting again and would enjoy staying at your rental again. We'll certainly recommend your property for a nice, relaxing stay to our friends and family. Mahalo!

The house is just as described except the view is way better in person. Lanae gives you great instructions to the location plus good sight seeing locations nearby. The house is very clean and well kept. It was easy to make it home for a week. The location in North Shore is peaceful and perfect. It is close to some great beaches not to mention the one out the back door.

Wow! What can I say. Your home was amazing! It looked just like the pictures and I couldn't have asked for more. It's practically right on the water and the sunsets were beautiful. There was even a rainbow in the back yard! We planned a family vacation after a very long hiatus, since my youngest son will be leaving for college in a few days. Your home was ideal as a base between all the activities we had planned. It was clean and comfortable and roomy for it's small size. The kitchen was well equipped and easy to cook and clean up in. The A/C kept the home quite cool, but I found the air flow through the home was more than adequate, plus you could hear the surf and there was always a nice breeze. We could have easily just kicked back and relaxed our whole stay there. I would highly recommend it for those that want to stay off the beaten path, it's definitely a nice retreat from the larger commercial hotels and urban areas. I'd definitely re-visit Kawela Kai the next time I stay on Oahu. Mahalo nui loa! Aloha! The Foster Family Sabro, Marquita Justin and Ethan

A really great place to stay! We had a wonderful time on our Hawaiian adventure at Kawela Kai. The house is very comfy, nicely decorated and CLEAN! The well equipped kitchen (rice cooker - yeah!) allowed us to eat family meals several times. The lanai is extremely nice to enjoy anytime of the day. The beds are firm and comfortable. Ceiling fans in every room allow you to avoid using the AC all the time. My girls had a great time boogie boarding at Sunset Beach just down the road. Also, saw turles on the beach at Shark's Cove. Exploring the tide pools right in front of the house was neat. A truly great location. If you don't like crowds, North Shore is the place to be - a lovely secluded hale, close to pretty much everything. Mahalo nui loa for sharing it!

It gave us a place to come HOME to each night. This is our 3rd trip to Oahu and absolutely our best. I (we) cannot wait to come back again.... to this place of such comfort and beauty. Aloha & mahalo, Allison and Rio PS - the photos you've posted are lovely, but they simply can't do the beauty of the place justice.

This little house is an absolutely perfect getaway on the North shore. They are ideally located just between Sunset Beach and Kawela Bay, far away enough to be secluded, and yet near enough to all amenitities, such as Haleiwa town and Ted's bakery (the best chocolate haupia pie!). The house is exactly as described, clean and comfortable for a small family. They have a sweet set up with access to boogie boards and snorkelling stuff. We really enjoyed spending time by the ocean and watching the sunsets from the balcony as so many others have done. There are so many turtles up here.... I was so sad to leave and I can't wait to return.

Aloha Lenae & Lori, Our October 2008 stay at Kawela Kai was wonderful. Kawela Kai is clean, cozy and above and beyond well equipped. The view is spectacular. We practically lived out on the deck and we saw turtles every single day. We were visiting Oahu for a wedding and the location of your home was absolutely perfect. The wedding was 4 houses down from Kawela Kai so we were just steps away from our friends. It couldn't have worked out better for us. Mahalo, Mahalo, Mahalo!

Dear Lori and Lenae, how could our Hawaiian vacation have been better? It could NOT have. Your home is so beautiful. Our breath was taken away within minutes of arrival, opening the curtains to the ocean and seeing a ray and whales spouting... later a turtle popping his head up while swimming by. The house is cozy and comfortable, you could not ask for more or a more awesome location. The neighborhood is safe and quiet, it feels like it is your own piece of paradise... and IT IS!!! THANK YOU with all our hearts for sharing Kawela Kai with us. We are so sad to not be there today (we left yesterday) we are sitting here looking at all our photos. Thank you so much!

How could our Hawaiian vacation have been better? There is no way it could have. It was absolutely awesome having a clean, comfortable "home" away from home. Within minutes of arriving we saw a ray, whales breaching and a turtle swim by. How soul soothing to rock on the lanai and watch the ocean, then walk right down to it and feel like we had a private beach? It truly felt like we were home and hope to come back and stay again and again.

My husband and I stayed at your comfortable and relaxing hale for one week in February 2008, and we had a fantastic time. Your home had a lanai with a gorgeous view of the Pacific Ocean accompanied with some beautiful sunsets. It was also nice being able to eat in by either using the outdoor grill or cooking on the stove. Your location allowed us to easily partake in many fun activities near your home, including shark encounters, deep sea fishing, horseback riding, and just going to the many beaches that are on the North Shore. Mahalo for sharing your home. Aloha!

Dear Lori and Lenae, Thank you for making your house available to our family over the past several years. Although I have always enjoyed staying in your home, I was even more thankful for the coziness and relaxation it provided this year. My husband broke his leg surfing during our stay, so we ended up spending a lot more time "hanging out around the house" instead of running around the island. We still had a wonderful time. We loved eating meals out on the lanai while we watched and listened to the waves. We also really loved the easy access to the private and safe beach just below the house--it made it very easy to entertain our 3 year old son for hours on end. The outdoor shower is a big plus too, especially for the sandy little kid when he is done playing on the beach! My husband, (since he wasn't doing a whole lot this trip:))also wanted me to mention that he REALLY enjoyed the wireless interent this year too! We look forward to our stay next year! Thanks again.

The view alone would have been worth it, the fact that the kitchen was so usable, allowing us to enjoy some quiet meals on the Lanai, watching the waves come ashore really made the week complete. WE WERE FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO FIND THIS GEM ON NORTH SHORE. 4 OF US STAYED FOR A WEEK - HAD MY OWN PRIVATE BEACH FOR A WEEK! THE OWNERS HAVE ADDED MANY PERSONAL TOUCHES TO THE HOUSE, AND THE LANAI WAS WONDERFUL, THE VIEW TOO BEAUTIFUL TO DESCRIBE. THE SUNSETS WERE BREATHTAKING! SURF WAS UP MOST OF THE TIME AND WE WENT TO SUNSET AND PIPELINE TO WATCH THEM CATCH THE WAVES. IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING AWAY FROM TOURISTY WAIKIKI, I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS. THE ONLY NEGATIVE IS TRAFFIC NOISE FROM THE HIGHWAY, BUT THE OWNERS ARE VERY UPFRONT ABOUT THIS. THE LOCATION AND VIEW MORE THAN MAKE UP FOR THIS.

You provided a great service in this wonderland of activites and vistas. We hope that we will be able to return to your wonderful home in the near future (perhaps at Christmas time). The house was very clean and bright. The accomodations were beyond expectastions. Best of everything to you. Steve and Margie Beck Redding,CA

To the owners, This was my third time renting your house. I've usually stayed three or four weeks. I would like to thank you for this accomodation. It's a great location, I've enjoyed my stay and want to return. Look forward to renting again. Kevin

We had a great time! Such a nice beach house in a perfect setting. It was very peaceful. We went to several beaches in the area. At this time of year some were taped off due to danger, but we were still able to see some awesome waves! We enjoyed walking through and shopping at Haleiwa. We stopped in at Aoki's for shave ice. With a scoop of macadamia nut ice cream at the bottom and mixed island syrups; this was a very tasty treat! Yummy! We enjoyed our visit to Hanauma Bay on the southern side of the island. While snorkeling we saw some beautiful fish in their own natural habitat. We also visited the Polynesian Culture Center and enjoyed visiting several villages and then completed the tour with an extremely entertaining show. All in all we had a terrific stay. We got a lot of peace and relaxation staying here. Thank you! Carolyn and Steve

Just wanted to say we enjoyed our stay at your beach house a great deal! It was so much fun. We had a relaxing and peaceful trip. We loved your house. It was so clean and nicely decorated. Also, it was so open and airy. The view and the feeling of being right on the beach was great...the sunsets, the turtles, the warm water, the hot sand, the relaxing walks on the beach were all wonderful. We have a cabin in Tahoe and leave a guest journal for the renters. It is really fun to read and see what people think about the place. We will leave this in case others would like to write about their stay. We hope others enjoy their stay as much as we did! Thank you! Ken and Sheree
