Joshua Tree house description
This fresh and colorful guest house is perfect for a small family or couple. The day bed in the living/dining area sleeps two. It is a trundle set up with two twin beds. There is a queen sized sleep number bed in the bedroom.
Kitchenette offers apt. sized frig with icemaker, microwave, hotplate, and large toaster oven. There is dishware and cookware to accommodate twelve place settings, wonderful linens and towels, and ample outdoor and enclosed porch seating for enjoying the seasons.
Both charcoal and propane grills are provided. There is a fenced in back yard to make a safe place for children and dogs. The property is adjacent to public land on two sides, so we take our dogs and they can run off leash and chase rabbits, squirrels, and quail.

For visitors to Joshua Tree National Park, we are 3.9 miles from the Black Rock Canyon campground. Desert Hot Springs is 23 miles away, Palm Springs 30 miles, Morongo Casino is 30 miles away. It's easy to find and get to us, we are one mile up a gently sloped paved road from highway 62, where you will find all the conveniences you may need. Otherwise 50% of the total rental amount is required plus the $49 insurance upon making the reservation, and the remaining 50% of the rental amount is required no later than 30 days prior to the arrival date.

About the owner: We are an artist and an architect who needed a getaway from Los Angeles, preferably a short drive. Our friends found this area first and we followed their lead. At first we thought of it more as an investment, but soon fell in love with this delicate and exotic landscape.
Why the Owner Chose Joshua Tree:
After losing out on a 'short sale' property, we decided to look at this one. While the ad showed just a few bad pictures, the text explained that it had 8 bathrooms!! and was designed by Frank LLoyd 'Write.' We could not resist exploring those possibilities, and were amused to find that it had 3.5 baths, someone had just added the three and five to come up with 8. The realtor evidently just made up the 'Frank Lloyd Write' part, thinking that the house had similar design elements. To our surprise, he was right, it is a sprawling mid century modern home with few right angles and many interesting quirks. We found out since that Frank Lloyd Wright and his son were indeed working in the area when our home was built, 1958, so maybe someone local at least took notes? Anyway, please come visit and decide for yourself!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
You won't find many vacation homes with all of our amenities. At every opportunity we provided all of the comforts and perks that we ourselves enjoy, making this a fully furnished and outfitted vacation retreat. Each room is nicer than a fine hotel, with quality linens, new beds, appliances, and entertainment equipment. There are various outdoor and indoor seating areas, with a private screened and roofed porch for that in-between time. Your dog is safe in our fenced backyard, and can run free as well in the wash adjacent to our property. We see all kinds of wildlife from our multiple large windows, including jackrabbits, cottontails, squirrels, multiple species of birds, and even an occasional peregrine falcon enjoys our birdbath out back. This guest house, sleeping four, is a separate wing of a larger vacation home, The House of Three Wishes. It has its own screened porch and entrance, driveway, living room with daybed, (two twins), kitchenette, and queen bedroom. En suite with the queen bedroom is a fresh and updated full tub bathroom with travertine tile, grab bars, and plenty of natural light. The location is perfect and easy to get to, on paved roads a mile from highway 62. You will be able to hop down the road for any necessary supplies, while feeling a million miles away once you tuck into our place.
