Luxurious Condo at Turtle Bay -Only $195 Per Night Through Ma

Year Purchased: 1990

Why the Owner Chose Turtle Bay

The condos at Kuilima are by far the nicest place to stay on the North Shore. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and impeccably maintained. There are 3 swimming pools, tennis courts, and barbecue and picnic facilities. We have 24-hour security and a nice, quiet environment. From our lanai, we have a lovely view of the golf course and Koolau mountains, with a little lawn where children can play safely when we come back from the beach. The condo is situated perfectly to catch the trade winds, so although we have air conditioning we never use it because the tropical breeze is so pleasant. We can walk to the beach, stables, restaurants, and other facilities of the Turtle Bay Resort. At the same time, we can get to the beaches, restaurants and shops on the North Shore and Windward Shore in just a few minutes. The location is ideal.

The Unique Benefits at this Condo

We remodeled the entire condo several years ago and spared no expense. The kitchen has lovely maple cabinets, silestone counters, and GE Profile appliances. We installed a gorgeous travertine floor in the living, dining, kitchen, and lanai. The bathrooms are also travertine, and there is a spa tub in the downstairs bath. The living room furniture is top-grade Lazy Boy upholstery. Hawaiian art decorates all the rooms. It is a very pleasant place.

Owner's Map of Turtle Bay

My husband Ted grew up on Oahu and has always loved the beauty and aloha of the North Shore. When he took me to Turtle Bay to meet his family, I fell in love with it too. We purchased this lovely condo shortly before our wedding on Kuilima Point. Since then, we have had many happy times here with our family, friends, children, and grandchildren. Ed still surfs on the Phil Edwards longboard I gave him for a wedding present. We both love swimming, snorkeling, hiking, and browsing the art galleries and shops. We also like to visit the Polynesian Cultural Center and see the spectacular evening show there every year. At the end of the day, we walk down to Kuilima Point to watch the sun set before having dinner at one of the nearby restaurants or at home. We enjoy the area's fine restaurants, but we also love the little cafes and lunch trucks where it is easy to meet people. On Sundays, we attend Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Waimea, and stay to visit with the parishioners. Everything is so close to the condo that we always have a relaxing vacation here.

There is so much to see, do, and learn on the North Shore that cannot be found in the standard guidebooks to Oahu that I wrote a guidebook myself. The title is "Oahu's North Shore, A Guide To Its Treasures And Beauties." Ted took all the photos and created the maps while I researched and wrote the 355-page text. Get a free copy of the Guidebook with a stay of one week or more.

Great Home-away-from Home

Date of Stay: 04/05/11 Review Submitted: 07/29/11

Although I had been to Hawaii (Oahu) twice before, this was my first time on the North Shore, and a great experience. It was made so partially by my stay at this condo, which I rate on a par with a Marriott timeshare I have on the mainland. The phots on the website are accurate, but don't do justice to actually being in the surroundings. Centrally located on the North Shore, adjacent to the famous Turtle Bay Resort, the condo is within minutes of many fabulous sites and attractions in this laid back, natural Hawaii setting, yet only 45 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. It is well appointed, with excellent cross-ventilation and ceiling fans so that the room air conditioners were not used at all in my 10 day stay. The lanai faces on a golf course with hills in the background, while from the entrance it is only a 5 minute walk to the beach, restaurants, and other facilities of the Turtle Bay Resort (which are open to the public). If you don't wish to walk, adequate parking is available. The Polynesian Cultural Center is only ten minutes away, while Sunset Beach, Waimea Bay and the Banzai Pipeline are a few minutes in the other direction, For historical viewpoints, don't miss quaint Haleiwa Town and Waialua, or the several Heiau's (holy sites) in or near Waimea Valley and Waimea Falls. You haven't seen the REAL HAWAII until visiting this area, and this condo is the perfect base for your activities. I would return anytime, and recommend it highly.

fabulous North Shore getaway

Date of Stay: 03/15/10 Review Submitted: 09/08/10

This cheerful, spotless, modern condo has become our favorite Hawaiian escape from mainland reality with friends and family. A beautiful home away from home with a full well-equipped kitchen, two full baths and easy access to all that Turtle Bay has to offer. We love to lounge on the beach and eat at Ted's Bakery, then watch the kids play off the lanai. We walk to the water to see the turtles, and enjoy pupus with sunset views. The surf is world class. The golf is Big Break famous. The Polynesian Cultural Center is 5 minutes away. All this with travertine and jacuzzi tubs...why do we ever leave?

Best Kept Secret on the North Shore - This Condo!!

Guest: Kris10LuvsHawaii (Salt Lake City, UT)
Date of Stay: 06/14/09 Review Submitted: 05/15/10

My husband and I have traveled to Oahu many times, and the last THREE VISITS (including our honeymoon) we have chosen to come back to this very condo. The kitchen is newly remodeled as are both bathrooms. Beautiful tile work throughout, comfortable beds, jetted tub is great, newer furniture, stylish Hawaiian-themed bedding. There is a loft that is great for kids with 2 beds (you can easily sleep 2 couples and 2 kids). We loved to open the windows and fall asleep to palm trees swaying in the air -- Not loud tourists & traffic like you do in Waikiki!! The location is spectacular! Peaceful, quiet, and just a short drive into town and minutes away from Pipeline, Sunset, and Wiamea Bay. If you don't feel like driving you can walk to Turtle Bay's beach or visit one of the several pools right outside the condo - you get a key when you check in, and each pool has BBQs that are great for family or group trips. I would reccomend this condo to anyone looking for a TRUE Hawaiian experience that is relaxing, peaceful, and that is WORTH EVERY PENNY. Tips: Walk from the condo to Turtle Bay's beach for a late afternoon swim, then head to the Pool Bar for a mai tai and watch the sunset. The owners keep a colapseable laudry drying rack on the lanai. Use it for beach towels to dry faster. Buy your groceries on your way from the airport to the condo - once you get settled in you won't have to fus! Only complaint - Dishwasher door stuck a few times. Stereo is a little dated - bring your ipod speakers.
