Six of us (4 adults, 2 kids) spent spring break here and had a nice time. Beds were REALLY comfortable and the condo was clean. We had several minor maintenance issues--nothing serious, but it is definitely in need of some attention (most lamps were not working, portable fans did not work, shower door would not close, slow drain in one bathroom sink, sliding and screen doors require a strongman to move, front of fridge has significant rust, beach toy stock is totally depleted and/or worn out). The location of the condo was very convenient, though it was a drive to anything beyond the resort. Pools were nice and mostly in service. We saw monk seals sleeping on the beach by the resort every day, which was terrific! The beach at the resort was very usable and an easy walk. Parking there was never a problem, if you prefer to drive down. We had a lot of helicopter noise at the condo due to some military training center that is behind the condo, across the highway, but it was not overly disruptive. You are just going to hear road noise and helicopters--not the surf crashing, if you leave the windows open. Even during spring break this resort was not crowded. Then again, the resort itself is under construction, so the spa was closed, as were some of the restaurants, so it may have been less busy as a result--not sure. There are few options for restaurants in this area, and the hotel restaurants were typically a 2+ hour wait for dinner--definitely plan ahead and make reservations. The condo itself was devoid of all supplies, so do come prepared. It had salt, soysauce a small bottle of watered down dishsoap, one sponge, two rolls of tp and that was about it. You'll need to pick up tp and paper towels as well as laundry detergent if you plan to do any laundry. The dishes and kitchen tools were well stocked, but some condos come with supplies left over from previous tenants, and this one clearly does not. It appears to be completely stripped down between visitors, so plan accordingly. Best part of our trip was chatting with the handyman who gave us terrific suggestions for restaurants and activities, and helped us avoid the tourist traps. He recommended Cafe Haleiwa for dinner (don't let the appearance of the joint scare you off)--terrific meal! Well worth giving it a try if you are in town on a night they serve dinner. Overall, a great trip and a good place to stay--but it could use some basic maintenance to get it back to a luxury feel.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: These are the first negative comments we have received, as we work hard to make this the finest condo in the area. This is a tropical climate. Although the refrigerator is only a few years old, there is some rust beneath the water and ice dispensers on the door as a result of water “dribbling” or overflowing from the dispensers. The only effective way to prevent rust in this climate is to do without having water and ice on the door, a convenience most of our guests enjoy. Sliders and screens sometimes get sticky, but in this case we found some had been knocked off the track, a situation that was promptly corrected. These guests seemed to have many problems. They needed personal assistance to obtain passwords and key procedures that were provided in the written instructions. They had difficulty with lamps and fans because most of the electrical outlets in the condo are connected to wall switches. Rather than turn on the wall switches, they kept turning the switches on the lamps and fans on and off and moving the plugs from one outlet to another until the system was no longer working. Our local property manager tried to help, but had to wait until their departure to reconnect and test all the lamps and fans. Everything is in good working order. The kitchen is well-equipped. Like most condos, we provide enough soap, toilet paper, paper towels, and detergent for the first few days. For safety and sanitation purposes, food left by previous guests is removed before the next guests arrive. We cannot provide beach toys or beach towels, as those items “come and go”. There is usually a supply of extra towels, boogie boards, sand toys, and other items that can be taken to the beach on the lanai, but we cannot guarantee what will be there on a specific date. Many guests purchase those items at Foodland, Long’s Drug, and other local stores and leave them on the lanai. Information is readily available. All guests who stay 7 or more nights receive a free copy of our 355-page guidebook: Oahu’s North Shore, A Guide To Its Treasures and Beauties, that is available through Amazon.com. It includes extensive information about numerous local restaurants and cafes, all the beaches and surf spots in northern Oahu, tourist attractions, hiking and biking trails, and other activities, with short lists and suggested itineraries to maximize your time. You will also find dozens of brochures for local activities in the lobby of the Turtle Bay Resort.

We stayed here for a week and it definitely lived up to the pictures and our expectations. So comfortable with many luxury features. The tropical-inspired decor captures the spirit of Hawaii. The unit design takes advantage of island breezes so the air conditioning was not needed even in August. Cooking in the well-equipped kitchen was a joy as was dining and relaxing on the lanai. From the condo it is a short drive (or a pleasant walk) to the upscale Turtle Bay Resort. We enjoyed its beach as well as the resort's restaurants and shops. The pool bar was the place to enjoy sunset. The resort and the proximity to nearby (mostly uncrowded) beaches and attractions complemented the laid-back luxury of this North Shore vacation condo. A super vacation spot!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

We stayed here for a week with 4 adults and two children. There was plenty of room for all of us. The pool was very close to the condo and the beach was just a short drive down the road. We loved driving to all the nearby beaches each day. The kids loved the sand toys and boogie boards provided by the condo. Everything was clean and comfortable. We did have to wash towels and washcloths while we were there and make sure you take your own beach towels (which we had done). Excellent time was had by all. Thanks for letting us use your condo.Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing.

This condo was great! It had everything we needed. Tons of boogie boards, beach mats, toys for the beach, and 2 sets of snorkeling gear. The house was comfy and clean! The location is great. The owners were great to work with and answered all my questions prior to our stay!! We never had a chance to check out the pool but we did go to the public access beach at turtle bay. It was a good beach...enough waves to boogie board and they were small enough that we could snorkel too. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!!! Thank you!!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

We really enjoyed staying at the condo. It was beautiful and clean. We loved the location, 10 mins from all the best beaches. The kitchen was well appointed, nice to be able to have meals "at home." The owner was very helpful and available for any questions. We used her book every day, don't know what we would have done with out it, very helpful. We will definitely recommend this place to our friends. My wife and I took our family for a vacation. The condo is as advertised, a wonderful place to stay. I highly recommend this location. The view on the lanai is great. You are looking out on the Turtle Bay golf course. My ten year old daughter thinks this is the best vacation ever. I recommend staying at least a week. The book you receive from the owner patricia contains history and fabulous suggestions. Thank you for allowing our family to stay at your condo.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

My family and I just returned from spending 2 wonderful weeks at your lovely condo at Turtle Bay. We have rented other condos through VRBO and in comparison we found this one to be equipped with everything we could possibly need. The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes, utensils and glasses. I would not hesitate to recommend your condo to any of my friends who may wish to visit. We used the restaurants at the resort and found the beach to be very attractive and the condo had all the beach chairs etc. that we could possibly want.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Although I had been to Hawaii (Oahu) twice before, this was my first time on the North Shore, and a great experience. It was made so partially by my stay at this condo, which I rate on a par with a Marriott timeshare I have on the mainland. The phots on the website are accurate, but don't do justice to actually being in the surroundings. Centrally located on the North Shore, adjacent to the famous Turtle Bay Resort, the condo is within minutes of many fabulous sites and attractions in this laid back, natural Hawaii setting, yet only 45 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. It is well appointed, with excellent cross-ventilation and ceiling fans so that the room air conditioners were not used at all in my 10 day stay. The lanai faces on a golf course with hills in the background, while from the entrance it is only a 5 minute walk to the beach, restaurants, and other facilities of the Turtle Bay Resort (which are open to the public). If you don't wish to walk, adequate parking is available. The Polynesian Cultural Center is only ten minutes away, while Sunset Beach, Waimea Bay and the Banzai Pipeline are a few minutes in the other direction, For historical viewpoints, don't miss quaint Haleiwa Town and Waialua, or the several Heiau's (holy sites) in or near Waimea Valley and Waimea Falls. You haven't seen the REAL HAWAII until visiting this area, and this condo is the perfect base for your activities. I would return anytime, and recommend it highly.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1990
About the owner: My husband Ted grew up on Oahu and has always loved the beauty and aloha of the North Shore. When he took me to Turtle Bay to meet his family, I fell in love with it too. We purchased this lovely condo shortly before our wedding on Kuilima Point. Since then, we have had many happy times here with our family, friends, children, and grandchildren. Ed still surfs on the Phil Edwards longboard I gave him for a wedding present. We both love swimming, snorkeling, hiking, and browsing the art galleries and shops. We also like to visit the Polynesian Cultural Center and see the spectacular evening show there every year. At the end of the day, we walk down to Kuilima Point to watch the sun set before having dinner at one of the nearby restaurants or at home. We enjoy the area's fine restaurants, but we also love the little cafes and lunch trucks where it is easy to meet people. On Sundays, we attend Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Waimea, and stay to visit with the parishioners. Everything is so close to the condo that we always have a relaxing vacation here. There is so much to see, do, and learn on the North Shore that cannot be found in the standard guidebooks to Oahu that I wrote a guidebook myself. The title is 'Oahu's North Shore, A Guide To Its Treasures And Beauties.' Ted took all the photos and created the maps while I researched and wrote the 355-page text. Get a free copy of the Guidebook with a stay of one week or more.
Why the Owner Chose Turtle Bay:
The condos at Kuilima are by far the nicest place to stay on the North Shore. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and impeccably maintained. There are 3 swimming pools, tennis courts, and barbecue and picnic facilities. We have 24-hour security and a nice, quiet environment. From our lanai, we have a lovely view of the golf course and Koolau mountains, with a little lawn where children can play safely when we come back from the beach. The condo is situated perfectly to catch the trade winds, so although we have air conditioning we never use it because the tropical breeze is so pleasant. We can walk to the beach, stables, restaurants, and other facilities of the Turtle Bay Resort. At the same time, we can get to the beaches, restaurants and shops on the North Shore and Windward Shore in just a few minutes. The location is ideal.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
We remodeled the entire condo several years ago and spared no expense. The kitchen has lovely maple cabinets, silestone counters, and GE Profile appliances. We installed a gorgeous travertine floor in the living, dining, kitchen, and lanai. The bathrooms are also travertine, and there is a spa tub in the downstairs bath. The living room furniture is top-grade Lazy Boy upholstery. Hawaiian art decorates all the rooms. It is a very pleasant place.
