Our New Home Away From Home
Our New Home Away From Home
I was drawn in by the title as the Most Luxurious Condo at Turtle Bay and it is true. I have stayed in the condos at Turtle Bay a number of times over the years and this one was the by far the best and exceeded our expectations. Well built and very comfortable. The entire process from booking to checking in and out was smooth. We did not need to contact Patti at all. The next door neighbor was such a delight and helpful if we had any questions. Location was perfect that we did not need to run the air conditioners. We enjoyed and appreciated the high end appliances, faucets, marble and travertine tiles, dad especially loved the 55" tv and I was pleased at all the little things that was condo was supplied with...I needed a bandaid and neosporin and found it in the first aid kit. I just cannot say enough. We just felt at home. We stayed for only 2 weeks and plan to come back next year hopefully for 3 weeks. I highly recommend this condo to anyone that appreciates comfort and quality.

Manager response: Thanks so much. We are glad you enjoyed your stay.
My wife and I absolutely loved our stay at this well equipped and maintained Condo at Turtly Bay. The facility had all the basic amenities one would find in a home and then some. The place was clean, and tastefully and ergonomically furnished. While we were only two of us, this condo is more than enough for a family with children. The location is perfect in a gated Golf course community on the North Shore away from the city skyscrappers and traffic. This allows you to enjoy the beautiful contryside, and yet be closer to several key tourist attractions. The beach is a stone's throw away from the condo. Our hope is that future residents will help keep up the overall quality maintained by the past residents. The rooms are very airy, with lots of natural light streaming in. Staying in the resort itself was half the pleasure. We have already recommended this to our families, and will look forward to staying at this cozy facility in the near future. Our sincere thanks and appreciation to condo owner Ms. Patti O'Rorke for managing and maintaining this top notch home.

My husband, myself our two year old son and folks stayed at the condo for my sisters wedding in October! We had a great experience, and would highly recommend Patti's condo to anyone. It was very well equipped for all our needs, especially our two year old son. It had baby gates, play pen and several beach toys which made things very easy on us. The condo was well cleaned when we arrived and very easy to find from Honolulu. Several of our friends and family rented condos in the same area and Patti's was the nicest and best equipped by far. All the neighbours were really friendly, and we really enjoyed our stay! Hope we will be back soon!!

Best Buy on the North Shore
Best Buy on the North Shore
I have stayed at this condo twice in the last 2 years, most recently this July. I logged on to VRBO to see if it was available during my 2014 wedding anniversary to book it for yet ANOTHER trip. My husband and I have had nothing but great experiences here, so I was quite shocked to see such a bad review from a tenant who arrived shortly after my stay in July. The North Shore is a place of natural beauty, and with that comes a little bit of sand and bugs, but this condo has always been clean, tidy, and perfect for us. Fabulous location, multiple pools onsite, a beach onsite that is protected from the big winter surf (especially great for kids and seniors), great dining within walking distance (grab a mai tai at the Hang 10 Surf Bar at the Hotel and watch the sunset), 2 golf courses, horseback riding, and you are a 15 drive from Pipeline, Wiamea, and Sunset Beaches. I have stayed in a few other rental properties both at Kulima Estates and offsite at a rental by Sunset Beach, and this is by far the best quality rental that I have stayed in on the North Shore, especially for the price. We never used portable fans as that we opened the front and back door and the breeze flowed freely. At night, we did use the window units which worked so well that we had to turn them off because we got cold. We never noticed any noise from it. I would reccomend this condo to anyone - I already reccomend it to my close family and friends and hope to visit agian this summer.

Manager response: Thanks, Kristen. We love to see you return each year, first for your honeymoon, then an anniversary, and now with your beautiful little daughter. Aloha.
We enjoyed our stay in the North Shore area but as to the "luxury condo" not so much.Road noise was we heard at night as the old A/C units (window type) were so noisy and weak that we turned them off after trying to sleep with them on and opened the windows for air. We found tiny ants were all over the kitchen counter.A giant cockroach ran across the counter while preparing diner on our second night and I found another huge one in a kitchen cabinet when I was looking for salt and pepper, the amount feces at the back of the cabinet makes me think it was not a new guest.Sitting on the couch next to the lamp and door to the lani there was a swarm of small flys that would land on you. Bug spray helped some and that was left at the condo for the future. The master bath shower valve was very stiff and my wife had to use two hands to get it to work. The sliding screen door would not stay on the track (broken wheels). This older condo has some up grades but needs better maintence and pest control. I did not do a review until now because the deposit had not been returned, only after phone calls with messages (they never would answer the phone) Some of it did get returned but I am in a dispute with the owner for the remainder and there was no reason given. That is the reason for "BEWARE" and I believe the owner being dishonest in her dealings with me and my family in this matter the other items are an FYI to all interested in this unit. My review is truthful and accurate. It is the policy of VRBO to not put personal info in the reviews. I wish it were not so as would be glad to speak to anyone interested in the details of my experience. I do have an open case regarding this owner with VRBO and hope this can be resolved as they say they take these matters seriously.

Manager response: This ludicrous review is a problem tenant's attempt to retaliate because we withheld $90 of his damage deposit to cover part of the damage he caused and asked him not to return. This tenant disregarded the clear terms of our rental agreement, denied responsibility for the damage and expense he caused, and repeatedly threatened that he knew how to manipulate VRBO's system if we held him responsible. When we deducted $90 from his damage deposit, he published this diatribe. It is the only negative review we ever received, and completely false. As you can see from the 5-star reviews of the tenants who stayed in our condo shortly before this tenant arrived and immediately after he left, and the numerous other positive reviews of past tenants, our property is maintained in immaculate condition. My husband and I stayed there immediately before this tenant arrived. When we left, everything was in perfect condition and there certainly were no bugs. (We have regular pest control service by the premiere company on Oahu.) While we were there, we had all the screen doors and wheels replaced, the carpets and upholstery professionally cleaned, and the travertine floors resealed. Our lovely furnishings were enhanced with a brand new French door refrigerator, new vertical blinds, a hand-tufted carpet, new lanai furniture, new linens, and even a new garden. It is a beautiful, treasured vacation home for us and our many guests who return each year.
Great time on North Shore
Great time on North Shore
This condo was exactly what we needed for our family of four. Well equipped for cooking, plenty of towels, comfortable beds, and enough room to feel that we were not crowding each other. We came to Oahu to visit our daughter living in La'ie, and this was only a 10-minute drive away. We spent much of our time in La'ie, playing at Hukilau Beach, visiting Polynesian Cultural Center, and getting groceries or ice cream, as needed. Although there are lots of beach rentals in La'ie, the beachhomes there look pretty run down, so I'm glad we opted for the well-maintained condo. Our daughter tells us this part of Oahu can be quite rainy in the winter months, so while I would definitely come back to this condo again, I would continue to make the trip in the summer.

Manager response: We're glad you enjoyed your stay but please be aware that you don't need to worry about winter weather at Turtle Bay. Although it is only 7 miles (about a 7-minute drive) from Laie to Turtle Bay, the weather is quite different. Laie is on the Windward side of the Koolau Mountains; the rain falls there when the clouds reach the mountains. Turtle Bay is on the North Shore, where the weather is nice year-round. So when you come to see your daughter in the winter, she can come and stay with you at Turtle Bay!
North Shore Treasure
North Shore Treasure
We were pleased with the nice comfortable relaxing accommodations. The condo is perfectly located with access to the Turtle Bay Resort amenities, as well as the infamous 7 mile north shore beach stretch. The beautiful north shore beaches are free from heavy tourism.. Within a short driving distance, the north shore beaches are very easy to get to. We enjoyed great food. hikes. paddling, kayaking and the best snorkeling.. This beautiful north shore condo at Turtle Bay is the best vacation we EVER HAD in Hawaii.. Patti left GREAT instructions regarding the resort as well as how to navigate our way through the North Shore via her book.. The owners really made this condo feel like HOME! We had a very hard time leaving because it was so serene, quiet and tranquil. EXACTLY what we were looking for. If you desire a family or romantic vacation getaway from the tourist trap or "concrete jungle".. THIS IS THE WAY TO EXPERIENCE THE NORTH SHORE.. It is TRUE HAWAII.. The way it SHOULD be seen.. The natural beauty of Hawaii without any commercialism! It exceeded our expectations. We look forward to making this our annual family vacation spot! SO BEAUTIFUL!

Manager response: So glad you enjoyed our home in Kuilima and that my book helped you find the amazing treasures and beauties of the North Shore.
Six of us (4 adults, 2 kids) spent spring break here and had a nice time. Beds were REALLY comfortable and the condo was clean. We had several minor maintenance issues--nothing serious, but it is definitely in need of some attention (most lamps were not working, portable fans did not work, shower door would not close, slow drain in one bathroom sink, sliding and screen doors require a strongman to move, front of fridge has significant rust, beach toy stock is totally depleted and/or worn out). The location of the condo was very convenient, though it was a drive to anything beyond the resort. Pools were nice and mostly in service. We saw monk seals sleeping on the beach by the resort every day, which was terrific! The beach at the resort was very usable and an easy walk. Parking there was never a problem, if you prefer to drive down. We had a lot of helicopter noise at the condo due to some military training center that is behind the condo, across the highway, but it was not overly disruptive. You are just going to hear road noise and helicopters--not the surf crashing, if you leave the windows open. Even during spring break this resort was not crowded. Then again, the resort itself is under construction, so the spa was closed, as were some of the restaurants, so it may have been less busy as a result--not sure. There are few options for restaurants in this area, and the hotel restaurants were typically a 2+ hour wait for dinner--definitely plan ahead and make reservations. The condo itself was devoid of all supplies, so do come prepared. It had salt, soysauce a small bottle of watered down dishsoap, one sponge, two rolls of tp and that was about it. You'll need to pick up tp and paper towels as well as laundry detergent if you plan to do any laundry. The dishes and kitchen tools were well stocked, but some condos come with supplies left over from previous tenants, and this one clearly does not. It appears to be completely stripped down between visitors, so plan accordingly. Best part of our trip was chatting with the handyman who gave us terrific suggestions for restaurants and activities, and helped us avoid the tourist traps. He recommended Cafe Haleiwa for dinner (don't let the appearance of the joint scare you off)--terrific meal! Well worth giving it a try if you are in town on a night they serve dinner. Overall, a great trip and a good place to stay--but it could use some basic maintenance to get it back to a luxury feel.

Very nice condo. Comfortable beds. Kitchen well stocked with dishes cooking utensils, etc. Good cable t.v. Selections. Annoying screen doors on both sliders. Would stay again if returning to North Shore.

Manager response: The screen doors and sliders have been replaced. However, in a tropical climate even new screens and sliders can get a little "sticky". We work hard to maintain everything in the condo so it is a lovely home away from home for our own family as well as our guests.

Year Purchased: 1990
About: My husband Ted grew up on Oahu and has always loved the beauty and aloha of the North Shore. When he took me to Turtle Bay to meet his family, I fell in love with it too. We purchased this lovely condo shortly before our wedding on Kuilima Point. Since then, we have had many happy times here with our family, friends, children, and grandchildren. Ed still surfs on the Phil Edwards longboard I gave him for a wedding present. We both love swimming, snorkeling, hiking, and browsing the art galleries and shops. We also like to visit the Polynesian Cultural Center and see the spectacular evening show there every year. At the end of the day, we walk down to Kuilima Point to watch the sun set before having dinner at one of the nearby restaurants or at home. We enjoy the area's fine restaurants, but we also love the little cafes and lunch trucks where it is easy to meet people. On Sundays, we attend Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at Waimea, and stay to visit with the parishioners. Everything is so close to the condo that we always have a relaxing vacation here. There is so much to see, do, and learn on the North Shore that cannot be found in the standard guidebooks to Oahu that I wrote a guidebook myself. The title is 'Oahu's North Shore, A Guide To Its Treasures And Beauties.' Ted took all the photos and created the maps while I researched and wrote the 355-page text. Get a free copy of the Guidebook with a stay of one week or more.
Why Turtle Bay:
The condos at Kuilima are by far the nicest place to stay on the North Shore. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and impeccably maintained. There are 3 swimming pools, tennis courts, and barbecue and picnic facilities. We have 24-hour security and a nice, quiet environment. From our lanai, we have a lovely view of the golf course and Koolau mountains, with a little lawn where children can play safely when we come back from the beach. The condo is situated perfectly to catch the trade winds, so although we have air conditioning we never use it because the tropical breeze is so pleasant. We can walk to the beach, stables, restaurants, and other facilities of the Turtle Bay Resort. At the same time, we can get to the beaches, restaurants and shops on the North Shore and Windward Shore in just a few minutes. The location is ideal.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
We remodeled the entire condo several years ago and spared no expense. The kitchen has lovely maple cabinets, silestone counters, and GE Profile appliances. We installed a gorgeous travertine floor in the living, dining, kitchen, and lanai. The bathrooms are also travertine, and there is a spa tub in the downstairs bath. The living room furniture is top-grade Lazy Boy upholstery. Hawaiian art decorates all the rooms. It is a very pleasant place.
