The Royal Mango is completely and totally fabulous. Me and my family just got back from a 13-night stay and we are already planning our return! The house is well off the beaten path and the property is full of amazing fruit trees and flowers and stands of giant bamboo. We ate the best oranges I've ever had in my life -- -plump and so juicy they almost come apart in your hand. And one evening I made boiled green bananas. Yum. The photos didn't accurately represent the experience -- but only because the actual reality was so amazing and really impossible to capture on film. Moloa'a bay is an amazing, unspoiled gem of a beach and my kids would have happily spent every day bobbing the waves or snorkeling the small reef on the southern end. The walk to the bay is a delight. There's a tiny waterfall, jungly vines, amazing flowers, and beautiful birds (though there are also roosters which can be a little noisy -- bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper!). The owners were wonderful -- very pleasant to deal with. The cottage itself is a low-key affair with tasteful beach decorations and a nice small library of videos and beach paperbacks. They also had a Kauai guidebook and a fish identification book which were very helpful. The furnishings were clean and well-maintained and the kitchen had everything we needed. Moloa'a bay is around the corner of the north shore and so doesn't get the heavy rainfall of Hanalei (which in one day while we were there got 20 inches!), but it did rain occasionally. Even the drenching rain is warm though and if we wanted sunshine we just drove to the south shore. My kids would have cheerfully spent every day all day at the bay, but we made them hike in Waimea canyon and snorkel at Tunnels beach among other things. I absolutely recommend the Royal Mango (or the Mango Shack if you have a smaller group)! We can't wait to come back.

We really enjoyed our stay here. My husband and I found this place a great value and worth a visit. The island is beautiful and the location of the rental is easy to spend a day at the north shore and then spend the following day close to the shops and towns further south. The rental owners are wonderful and easy to work with. We also loved spending our mornings with the house kitty that is so sweet! Would love to come visit again!

I have stayed at both the Mango Shack (2010) and the Royal Mango in 2012. I absolutely love both properties. I am very thankful to the owners for keeping the prices where my family and I can afford to stay. I've visited a few places but I am the happiest on the island of Kauai and the Mango property. It has beautiful banana and mango trees. It's on a nice road not far from the great waves and beautiful water of Moloaa Bay. I brought 5 girls with me this last time and we had a pleasant & peaceful stay at the Royal Mango. Everything that we needed was provided. It's so nice and cozy. I love the feel of the breeze coming through the windows at night and the morning wake up call from the roosters. The house itself is magnificent. I can't wait to come again. Hopefully in 2014. I never want to stay anywhere else while in Kauai. The Royal Mango is my home away from home. Thank you Kim and Annalisa for your sweet hospitality which is truly a blessing.

We stayed in the Mango Cottage and Mango Shack and really enjoyed both. The setting is absolutely gorgeous. Extremely serene and secluded. The cottage is very clean, comfortable and the kitchen is fully stocked. We really appreciated the beach toys that were available--we didn't have to pay extra money to rent snorkel equipment! The Shack was my personal favorite. Loved the windows in the kitchen and next to the bed as I got to wake up to the jungle each morning. Also, the outside shower was spectacular. I personally love to be outside so I treasured the opportunity to bathe in nature. The owners were very responsive and easy to work with. All in all, I highly recommend you stay here! Enjoy--Kauai is a dream come true! Don't miss the Napali Coast hike, its stunning!!!!!!!

We are here now and we just love the place. This house was just in the perfect spot, in between Kapaa and the North Shore, yet close enough to go to Poipu for the day or even Salt Ponds. Loved the oranges and Pomelos (large grapefruit) picked right in the yard (BEST POMELOS I HAD ON KAUAI). This place has everything you need to suit your vacation, FULLY EQUIPED. Loved the LARGE living room/dining room/kitchen area, lots of seating and very roomy. Nestled in a quiet area where the birds chirp and the crickets sing. Had lots of snorker gear, boogie board and beach stuff too. One of the better rentals we stayed at on Kauai. Loved the large porch too, huge yard. GREAT PLACE FOR KIDS! The owners were very nice to work with and we hope to come back again. MAHALO KIM! Matt, Christy, Kya and Kiana - Victoria, BC

We had just gotten through the wedding, and if any of you have been through that lately you'll know that it takes a little time to unwind after that experience. We knew when we were looking for something to rent on Kaua'i, the garden isle, the honeymoon island, that we didn't want the typical experience. We wanted something better. We turned down offers from two family members to use their RCI points and go spend a week for free in some resort with pools and sauna's and lot's of other people. By the stroke of luck, we found the Mango cottage. It was like being on Gilligan's island, which I heard was filmed around there in that there was no body around to disturb our week of bliss - except we got to stay in a beautiful cozy cottage. It reminded me of Emile's home from South Pacific. I kept singing Some Enchanted Evening to my beautiful wife, over and over. Typical morning, I would get up and jog a mile up the street to the fruit stand and have an amazing cup of coffee, and pick up some perfectly ripe strawberry guava and papaya and other things I had never heard of. Then I would head back stopping in the yard to harvest enough oranges to squeeze some juice for us. After that, the island was our playground. But nowhere we went did we find anything more peaceful than our own honeymoon cottage. Mahalo Royal Mango.

My husband, my 2 kids and I spent a wonderful 7 days at the mango cottage. The cottage was perfect. Secluded down a private windy road, no more then 5 minutes from a quite beach that was perfect for my 2 year old. The cottage had everything we needed for the kids, toys for the beach for the baby and snorkeling gear and boogie boards for the teenager. The kitchen had everything you would need to cook your own meals. The orange trees in the back yard were loaded! We made fresh orange juice every morning. Thunder, rain, the grunting of stray pigies and roosters is mostly what you will hear in this beautiful place! The cottage is a step back in time to the old Hawaii. We cant wait to go back!!

This is in a great private, but accessible area between Kapaa and Princeville. An easy drive to Hanalei for the beaches and shave ice. Just down the road is beautiful quiet Moloaa bay. The house was stocked with everything we needed: cooking supplies, guide books, movies, wireless internet, beach supplies.... The grounds around the house this time of year have oranges, avacados, Malay apples, and pummelos. There is no excuse to not get plenty of fruit in your diet when you stay here! The owners are easy to communicate with and give good detailed information. Highly recommended!

This is a beautiful house with plenty of room for a family or small group. I was immediately impressed when I walked in at how nice the house itself was. It has a spacious living room and a big, open kitchen. There is room for sleeping in the living room, if you have a group. The two bedrooms are in the back of the house and were plenty large enough for us. They face away from the street and look into the "orchard" of fruit trees. Because the front of the house has tropical plants in front of it and there is a hedgerow separating the house from the street, the entire house feel secluded. There is a large porch and the grounds are very large (way more than 2 city lots, in my opinion). I loved the fact that there was a washer and dryer because in the tropical environment I ended up washing my bathing suit and towels more than I had suspected. My friend *loved* the fact that there was an outdoor shower, although I enjoyed the indoor shower. :> We had a 2 year old child staying with us and the owner provided a crib and high chair. There were lots of DVDs around for a break during rainy downtime and toys to take to the beach. The house was very clean and the property was well-maintained. The beach is a short drive or a longish walk away, but it is never crowded. At most, a few groups of people were on the very long beach. Bring your snorkel gear and check out the octopus. The view form up the side of the hill from the beach is breathtaking. Wow! Thinking about this makes me want to go back. It is a beautiful house with a beautiful beach down the road.

A Fantastic vacation at this beautiful home. If you enjoy a "At Home" feel and you like the more laid back vacation this is a wonderful place. Great jungle setting with one of the best beaches on Kauai just 3 min. down the road. Loved picking our own fruit off the trees and relaxing in the evening to the sounds of the birds, instead of traffic. Would highly recommend a stay here for anyone with the adventurous side. Beautiful.

We enjoy lazy Hawaiian vacation days here at The Royal Mango. Our four children and their friends have enjoyed reef walking, snorkling, and swimming at beautiful Moloaa beach down the street for as long as they can remember. It's a great beach for all ages. The park like setting of The Royal Mango is a lovely place to rest, and hang out alone or with friends. Access to the rest of the island is convenient - although you'll have to be motivated to leave the tranquility of The Royal Mango! Moloaa has great weather too! (It's the dry part of the North Shore) You wont be disappointed if you are looking for a bright and clean cheery home to explore the island from.
