Picture a cozy log cabin situated in the scenic San Juan Mountains and whether its summer or winter you have the perfect Colorado vacation site! It is a serene place where you are able to enjoy the amenities of Durango Mtn Resort (Formerly Purgatory) and the historic town of Durango without the crowds and noise.

This is a real log cabin nestled in a beautiful heavily wooded area near a high mountain lake but close to Durango (20 minute drive in the summer) and 12 minutes south of Durango Mountain Resort. The cabin has three bedrooms (two with queen beds and one with twin beds with cozy down comforters and brand new mattresses) plus two full baths. Sit in front of the fire or soak on the deck in the hot tub under the stars. In the summer lounge in the hammock. A full kitchen and washer & dryer offer all the comforts of home.

A short 7-12 minute drive takes you to the Durango Mountain Resort (Purgatory), home to some of the best Nordic and Alpine skiing in the Rockies. (By the way, check out the Oct 2001 issue of Ski Magazine - My husband, Ed Mackey was named one of the top 100 ski instructors in the country!!. He can get you started or help you become a "double black diamond expert").

After a exhilerating day skiing or boarding, enjoy a soak under the stars in the hot tub. Sip hot chocolate in front of the wood fire, or hike down to the lake for a little ice skating on a "classic Colorado" lake surrounded by mountains. How about a romantic sleigh ride to an old miner's cabin for dinner, snowmobiling, snowshoeing or simply reading in front of the fire or soaking in the hot tub?? This winter wonderland is perfect for relaxing or enjoying winter sports.


Speaking of summer, the area comes alive with scenic chair lift rides, alpine slides, music festivals, and world class mountain biking. Look out your front windows for a wooded aspen and pine view with a backdrop of mountains. This charming cabin is surrounded by hundreds of miles of scenic hiking and biking trails where wild flowers, waterfalls, and wildlife abound.

Perhaps you would enjoy white water rafting, world class fly fishing or golfing. Or take a ride on the famous Durango Narrow Gauge Railroad to an Old Mining Town. Visit Gold Mines... Ghost Towns... "Go Jeeping" on Incredible Mountain Passes! Or just read a good book in the hammock!!
