From the moment you arrive at this perfectly orchestrated San Juan Island vacation rental home, you’ll understand why guests return to this premier home year after year.
Montauk perches over the waterfront at the end of a private road. The setting is pure Northwest, with beautiful views of surrounding islands and the sea, yet there’s a flavor of weathered Cape Cod, Eastern seashore, and English garden as well. The design integrity, quality of construction, and attention to detail give evidence that this is a cherished Island vacation home. Every item is artfully chosen to complement and complete, yet there is no pretension in the effect. Montauk is simply very comfortable and very attractive.
High ceilings, painted woodwork, wide plank flooring, serene colors, soft fabrics, and splashes of bright create lovely interior spaces. There’s room for all to gather on plush overstuffed chairs and sofas in front of the fireplace; there’s another fireplace in the den where one might sneak off to read a book (there's also a queen-size sofabed in the den.) A large dining table for family meals is at one end of the living room. Guests will find meals a joy to prepare in the kitchen with a Viking range, honed granite counters, a large prep island, and breakfast nook (it’s tempting to have morning coffee on the flagstone patio as well).
The master bedroom is on the main level of the home, offering a king size bed and windowseat. The generous master bath features exceptional tilework, heated floors, dual vanities set in Carerra marble counters, soaking tub & shower. The two-story guest wing is located on the opposite side of the home. The main level of guest wing contains a laundry/mud room and two bedrooms with queen size beds and a full bathroom to share. Upstairs is a third guest room with two twin beds plus the entertainment room with a 63' flat screen TV (and queen-size sofa bed) and another full bathroom.
Outdoors, there is a large deck with furniture groupings, heaters, and BBQ. The hillside below is sculptured with exquisite gardens, flagstone steps, tree swing, and a firepit by the shore. Another path takes you to the absolutely beautiful beach where a kayak (BYO) may be launched.
Our home is cared for by a local rental manager who is on call should you need help. They will take care of making your reservation too!
